Great video! I loved watching you two work together to build your quail hutch! It turned out beautiful. I love the color. And thanks for showing them hatching they are so very cute. I’m looking forward to seeing them all in the hutch.
Thanks so much for this video! I actually found you via your rabbit hutch build and thoughts "I bet this sort of design could work for either quails or rabbits!" so i love that at the end you say that this cage design would also be backwards compatible. :D
To help save money, on the tops, back, and sides, use mosquito net instead. I would recommend for the door hatch on the doors, to be at the bottom, and not the middle, as the quails should be able to push the corner of the door enough to tilt and get out. Even better, put two door hatches on each door, one on top and one at the bottom. Great cage design, though.
Just wanted to mention that Quail jumping and hurting their heads is a myth..yes they jump but there is no gaining momentum, LOL quail pop around the cage no matter the height.. Mine are 2 ft. high and they are just fine,, Happy little quail..I enjoy them tremensely and they are quite intertaining,,hagd..
It a beautiful green colour. I like the pvc hardware cloth. That’s a nice touch. Did you consider using it for the ceiling as well? I wonder if that would help with quail injuries as the hardware cloth is pretty harsh. As for the screws, I really like using 1” narrow crown staples. You can get pretty cheap air nailers if you have an air compressor and it makes installing hardware cloth very easy. Great video!
I'm going to be using your measurements of the quail hutches and build almost the exact same thing for both my bearded dragons. Thanks for the inspiration
Hello from Wrightsville Ga I enjoy your videos they are very educational. L have a question in one of your videos you doctored one of your does eye I have a doe that I need to doctor what do you put on it thanks in advance
I use Terramycin antibiotic ointment from Tractor Supply! Just use a warm, wet cottonball to clean the eye (never force it open) and then once it softens enough to open, I put a small dab under the eyelid and gently massage it. Do this for 2-5 days, twice a day, and it usually clears up nest box eye symptoms.
Typically it’s one square foot per quail, so this would comfortably house 8 adult birds per level. That being said, I currently have 20 something growouts in the bottom level 😂 butcher day is soon!
Greetings. How deep are the trays, what dimension are they and do you have link you can share for the trays. I'm looking for deeper tray and liking what I see here.
I got it from KW cages! It took FOREVER to ship. Just like anything from KW Cages, the quality is superior but the customer service is severely lacking.
Could you use this for one single rabbit? If so, would you need the “fancier” flooring? My bunnies are lop/Rex mixes and I’ll be getting some pedigreed lops soon.
Did you put anything on the wire like along the cut edges? I'm in the process of making this, but nervous about little bits of hardware cloth poking out and scratching or hurting the birds
Pretty irritated with myself about using staples instead of these screws. I have sooooo much of those screws on hand 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️ all future upgrades will be done with screws from now on! 🤣🤣 thanks!! 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Where did you find those trays? What will you do with the eggs? Pickle them? They seem so small for cooking lol. We raise a variety of chickens plus Muscovy ducks. Our Silkie and Key West Hens lay pretty small eggs but not as tiny as quail.
Trays are from Rural King! We will be eating the eggs for breakfast, making mayonnaise, tiny deviled eggs, and selling hatching eggs, to name a few things 😊 we will also be using the quail as meat birds!
They are so cute! Trying to watch all of your rabbit videos. We are going to start raising rabbits for meat. Any advice? Should we raise pure bred or mixes?
Even if you are raising for meat, I would still buy pedigreed rabbits from a reputable breeder. They will be a bit more costly, but you can always sell the babies as purebred/pedigreed and you can also get into showing or 4-H/FFA if you have kids! Reputable breeders typically sell the best rabbits from the litters, whereas backyard meat breeders will sometimes sell any rabbit regardless of size or conformation (which can yield less meat for you in the long run).
Your quail hutch looks very similar to my one but there is one thing your hutch needs to be improved to make sure it is safe from predators. It was the trays that have the gap above them for predators like rats or raccoons to burrow into the hutch and kill your quails.
@@TealStoneHomestead I was saying the gap between the tray and bottom of your wire mesh, the rats can get into the tray and bite your quail’s feet, this may not kill your quails but your quails will be seriously injured and stop laying eggs due to stimulation by fright.
OMGOODNESS SOOOOO CUTEEEEEEEE I LOVES THOSE BABY QUAIL CHICKS Some advise pls So I want to have a rabbitry and I was wondering what the easiest breed is!? I want to start with the easiest breed I am probably going to start when I turn 12... I also want to do showing and my moms friend has meat rabbits so if I have and extras I could give to her.....I am looking for a breed that u could be pets but also show rabbits
Nice seeing someone use good screws for the mesh instead of staples. Adds a good amount if predator proofing.
Such a lovely video!! Thank you for all the details on building your quail hutch!
This video did put a smile on my face, I enjoyed watching it. The bottom heavy gauge mesh is a good idea indeed.
Best cage I’ve seen for quail
lol baby quail yellin at Jamison. they are so cute!
It looked like it was telling him a thing or two! 😂
Nice job. A joy to see and learn together. Look forward to seeing how things turn out.

Hi💕

Great inspiring video. I would have painted the wood before sawing and turned the cage up side down to install the braces.🙂
We typically paint the wood beforehand, but we got impatient this time around 😊
Nice build! Where did you guys get the 14 gauge coated wire? How did that work out? Thanks.

Love your build for the quail hutch! Approximately, how many adult quail would this house? Thank you.

Oooh how exciting. I would love to build this for my gf and her quails! Any idea for when you plan to post the plans? I can't wait to get started!
Hopefully soon!! :)
Where did you get the containers for the poop trays? Great job on the hutch!
I got them from Rural King! The 24" trays are $9.99 a piece, not bad at all :)
Greetings. How deep are the trays, what dimension are they and do you have link you can share for the trays. I'm looking for deeper tray and liking what I see here.
Where did you get the droppings pans for the underneath? Are they 2X2?
We bought our wood and we’re so excited To get started with quail!
Great job!!
nooooo it needs to be teal! this is very beautiful by the way
If I had my way everything would be teal 🤣
@@TealStoneHomestead wouldn't the yard look great with everything teal! omg;
Can you tell us how the quail hutch is holding up
Most builders use 2x4's
You have a very nice husband. I love the joke about the pink and green wood hehe
He makes me laugh 😆
lmao right now. i know the sound of a crow collar anywhere
Inspirational videos! Question: where did you purchase the pricey wire for the floor?
I got it from KW cages! It took FOREVER to ship. Just like anything from KW Cages, the quality is superior but the customer service is severely lacking.
Hi!
how many full size quail can you keep in here?
For the floor is that quarter inch or half inch and how is it working for ya guys a year later?
Starting to think about making this for my rabbits already…
Where did you get the poop trays how much where they and what is the dimensions? Thanks

I know this video is 3 yr old but where do I find the 2x4 tray? 😂

The color of the paint is beautifull But quals are groundbirds, so sad to see them on wire... (and also unnatural for rabbits
