Do you already have a visa to work there? It will depend where you are teaching - private academies, universities, etc. In general, you’ll want a quality TEFL with teaching practice like CELTA or CertTESOL.
@@ESLTeacher365 The visa is in the process, we have applied for the Canadian PR. I was thinking to apply for online teaching. CELTA is great for teaching adults, but not kids, so just keep that in mind. It also depends on where you want to teach. If you fill out my survey in the description I can better guide you.

Hi, Jamie! I have 8 years of experience teaching or training adults in English Language Training; I have also worked as a Curriculum Developer (ELT) and Content Writer. In your knowledge or understanding, how is Trinity CertTESOL? I don't want to teach young learners at all. Is TEFL mostly about teaching young learners? Will it be worth every penny if I go for Trinity CertTESOL? Please guide if you can!
CertTESOL is the Trinity brand TEFL. I haven’t taken it but I did take CELTA and they are similar. They are very good courses for teaching adults. It depends on how you want to use it. It’s usually for new teachers or a top up for experienced teachers. There’s also more advanced courses like DELTA.
Can i teach english as a non-native speaker if i know almost no grammar? I'm pretty fluent in speech and writing, but it's all instinctual and subconscious. When someone asks me why is something the way it is in english all i can say is "it's just is". Would these courses help me bridge that gap or are they more for people who just need to brush up on their already existing understanding of the language?
You absolutely need to know grammar to teach English. If you do a TEFL course it won’t teach you the grammar, it will teach you how to teach grammar. I recommend brushing up on English grammar first. There are lots of helpful books!
I am Spanish. I hace a BA in English philology and Master's in Teaching but to teach abroad are not válido I need Tefl or Celta, I was suggested to do celta since I have already experiencia ,but is like having two master's in Teaching
CELTA is more equivalent to a bachelor’s than a master’s. DELTA is the master’s equivalent. It really depends on where you want to teach. Which countries are you interested in? For non-native speakers it’s always best to be as qualified as you can since some countries, schools and employers prefer native speakers (which is unfortunate and discrimination 😔)

im indian, which one is best to get job in abroad
For non-native speakers I recommend International TEFL Academy (link in the video description) or CELTA.

Jaimie would love for your advice, I just subscribed to your channel. My sister is changing her career and she wants to be able to teach remotely anywhere in the world. She is considering an academy but I don't think really is worth it. Would you be able to provide a consultation with me on how can she start. My sister only has High School Degree.
Hi! I offer teach abroad coaching. You can email me at the address in the description to book a session.
CELTA would be considered an expensive course? I'm from Argentina, Thanks!
Yes, CELTA is one of the most expensive courses. However, they don't offer job search assistance. So I personally recommend ITA over CELTA if you are looking for job search help.
Hi what do you think about TELF International? Are there any other schools that are better?
I only recommend certificates where I have personally spoken with the company about their certificate. I haven’t spoken with TEFL International. You can find my recommendations in the description box.
Did I miss something? I thought there were going to be links for some courses?
There are links in the description box 🙂
Hello, this video is very informative and I really appreciate it. I personally will be graduating in 2025 with a degree in modern languages (Japanese) and I want to apply for the jet program to be an assistant teacher in Japan. I know jet does not require a certificate or experience in teaching but it is recommended. I have no prior experience teaching at all but I’ll have a bachelors soon so I’m not sure weather or not If I should go for the middle cost of certification or the more expensive one based on my situation. I would be so grateful if you could give me some insight, I am hoping to get a certification before I apply for jet in fall 2025 while also going to full time university (so I need a more flexible certification process if possible if you know of one).
I recommend filling out my survey or sending me an email (linked in the video description) so I can personally guide you 🙂
Hi, thank you. This video has been very informative.
wanted to ask your recommendation on the TEFL which is accepted by the Government of Canada.
I am actually planning to move to Canada for work. I have a 10 years of teaching experience, so I think the MID-LEVEL TEFL would do. I am looking to do mostly online teaching. What would be your recommendation specially on the one the Canadian employer would accept. Thank you.
I am ready to work both in private academies, universities, and online as long as the TEFL certification allows.
Can you suggest any online site to acquire the appropriate certification please?
@@joshADV That's great that you have a visa! I have some online TEFLs linked in the description box that you can check out.
I did not realize that people get both a TEFL and CELTA. I'm being told that having the money and time that I should get the CELTA. I'm 51, have 3 degrees and have done some teaching and substitute teaching.
CELTA is great for teaching adults, but not kids, so just keep that in mind. It also depends on where you want to teach. If you fill out my survey in the description I can better guide you.
I need a Personal Tefl course. Jamie I'm from Ghana can you help
For non-native speakers I recommend a level 5 course with teaching practice.
hi there! do you think that primeir tefl best than the institute of ireland?
I’m not familiar with the Institute of Ireland. I only recommend certificates where I have personally taken the course or spoken with the company.

Is it a must to take it for traveling abroad to any arab countries ???
It will depend on where you are from, your qualifications and where you are teaching (private schools, business English, public schools, etc) but in general yes, it’s required.
World TESOL ACADEMY IS OFFERING TESOL IN 34 DOLLARS.NEED SUGGESTIONS...Should I opt for it?
If you want to teach online ONLY, it's ok. If you want to teach abroad, absolutely not.
Great video! Thank you! Will send you email.
Do you recommend TEFL Institute of Ireland? Is their 120 hour TEFL Certificate course good?
I have not personally tested it out yet. I only recommend courses that I have tested so I can verify if they are legit! I will put it on my list of courses to try.
Hi, I didn’t find the video about your CELTA pros and cons..didn’t you regret about doing it?
Try searching CELTA and ESL Teacher 365. 🙂
Can u pls tell which certificate want to get jobs in gulfs or foreign countries as English Teacher?
Check out the description box of this video for certs I recommend. Higher paying countries in the Middle East often prefer CELTA.

You can always get a level 5 TEFL course or do add-on courses like Business English. You can check out the description box for courses I recommend. Are you considering working for Outschool or freelancing?
no teaching degree, no certficate but has a teaching experience through seminars inside our church and outreach. and want to learn and teach abroad. what's good tesol/tefl level for me? thank you for answering this message. God bless
It depends on if you have a bachelor’s degree, your budget for the course, your nationality and where you want to teach. Please fill out my survey and I will email you back with some recommendations!
Is Level 5 required when teaching online? Or is it the same as Level 3 or advanced?
Most companies will only require a level 3 (120 hour) certificate.
Hi Jamie,
Thank you for this video!! Can you please help me? I have master's level education in the sciences and have some teaching experience with children and university students. I've debated going with ITA, but after seeing your video maybe I dont need something so exhaustive. What I'd really prefer is a program that offers other bonuses like visa and in country support (this would be my first time out of the country!). I would deeply appreciate your thoughts on this.
Please fill out my survey in the description so I can better guide you 🙂
Many thanks for answering! Yes, I am aware of DELTA and DipTESOL as well.

what is a good school to attend?
This depends on where you want to teach, if you are a native speaker, if you have a degree and how much experience you have.

Which one should I take? I am still unsure. I have never worked as a teacher before, and this going to be my first experience.
International TEFL Academy or CELTA 🙂
I am Spanish. I hace a BA in English philology and Master's in Teaching but to teach abroad are not válido I need Tefl or Celta, I was suggested to do celta since I have already experiencia ,but is like having two master's in Teaching
CELTA is more equivalent to a bachelor’s than a master’s. DELTA is the master’s equivalent. It really depends on where you want to teach. Which countries are you interested in? For non-native speakers it’s always best to be as qualified as you can since some countries, schools and employers prefer native speakers (which is unfortunate and discrimination 😔)

Hello Jamie
Just find your channel and subscribed;-)
My husband is native English speaker and he teach business&economics here in Dubai.. This is his second year so he is still NQT till next year
He is 50 years old
I’m wondering is it possible to teach English online if you are a bit older?
He has BA in Hospitality and Tourism
Master in Human Resources and PGCE in Business
We are planing to perhaps live in my country in the future ( Croatia) and wonder if he can make a bit of extra money online even if he will be over 50
Please be honest ha ha
Regards from us from Dubai ♥️
Yes, it’s possible. However, if he teaches business and econ, it would be best to start his own freelance online teaching business to teach business English since most companies pay poorly these days.
