    Cheers for this video. Over the past year or two, the conversation seems to have changed from whether one SHOULD have a TESL / TESOL / TEFL, to WHICH institution / certificate one should choose. I get it, so many programs popping up. These videos are necessary. That's for informing new and developing teachers!

    You come across so authentic ! I have a BA degree and I'm currently teaching on cambly (only about a month!). I'm interested in completing a TEFL course but without a practicum ! I'm only planning to teach online. What do you think of TEFL Professional Development Institute (120 hr)... I saw a link for a FREE 120 hr course with them but you have to pay to receive the actual paper Certificate !! This whole area is a bit of a maze 😳

    • @ESLTeacher365
      @ESLTeacher365  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      If you are only teaching online, then you don’t typically need to invest in an expensive course. However, a quality course will give you strategies and resources to improve your teaching. I recommend The TEFL Academy Level 3 course if you want to teach online. They have an entire module on online teaching and the course is worth it in my opinion. Free courses are usually just articles you read and quizzes.

    Thank you for this video! I am an American and thinking about the Maximo Nivel school in Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. I am a native English speaker with a BA and no teaching experience. it is about $1600 at this point, not including airfare and apartment rental for a 4-week course. If I round up to about $5000, just to have a buffer, it seems like a good deal for the whole experience. It depends on your nationality, if you have a degree, where you want to teach and if you want to each adults or not. CELTA is great for the EU and Middle East for teaching adults. However, no job support is given. If you want a comparable course with job search assistance, I recommend ITA: bit.ly/ITATEFL

I know jet does not require a certificate or experience in teaching but it is recommended. I have no prior experience teaching at all but I’ll have a bachelors soon so I’m not sure weather or not If I should go for the middle cost of certification or the more expensive one based on my situation. I would be so grateful if you could give me some insight, I am hoping to get a certification before I apply for jet in fall 2025 while also going to full time university (so I need a more flexible certification process if possible if you know of one).
