Don’t replace your machine next time. The fix is when you arrive at your machine in the morning, the handle should be up ready to insert a capsule. Don’t place a capsule inside the holder yet. First carefully touch the underside of your lid where all the spikes are and gently but firmly twist the spikes just enough to dislodge them from their stuck position. That’s it. The spikes just get stuck. As long as the spikes can rotate freely, you shouldn’t have an issue with the machine. Also, make sure you never hold the brew button unless you know you are teaching your machine how much to brew from that capsule size.
You may want to keep an old capsule, remove the lid, and clean it. You can run this blank capsule after a brew to clean your brew head between cups or at least between flavors. I would do this as much as possible even after every cup to make sure the system stays crystal clean for your next cup. Yes, it will waste water. Save it for your acid loving plants please.

All that extra work on a more expensive machine....it negates the rason fir buying these overly expensive aluminium leaching pods...then you might as well buy a manual espresso machine or a bean to cup ...you get cheaper, fresher , freshly ground bean coffee with. Pods are old and stale and 10x more expensive. I have one of each pod machine...they all turned out tastleless, small, expensive after a year of trying thes pods out, had a dolcegusto, nespresso, espresto(k fee) etc....pod prices got very expensive eventually. I invested in the cheapest philips bean to cup and the 1kg beans that I buy are way cheaper, I now enjoy freshly ground, great tasting coffee...I can choose any brand I like of beans tooo...YAY

Nope sorry but it just kept blinking at me and never worked the pins never got stuck it was an electrical malfunction I ran through all the options to retest and still gave me the blue light which isn’t even in the instruction manual so thanks for the info but it wasn’t the case for me. My new Virtuo Plus Deluxe works great no problems… but they need to figure out the virtuo next machine I bought the karafe and everything for it I was bummed but I’m happy with my new machine

Mine is definitely going back as the problem is intermittent. worked fine for 11 months (around two coffees a day. I also have an Inissia for espresso shots. That one never failed in 10 years of heavy usage) but first started to "process" one in two capsules and now none. did so many "water clean"s that, water what comes from it is crystal clear. None of the mumbo jumbo worked. It feels like the machine is not recognizing the capsules. I would get the same blink if I try to brew and there is no capsule in the machine (spins stops/ flashes brown and returns to steady white)
Vertuo Next tries to do too much on such cheap plastic machinery :( once you take the fun out of making coffee no crema will make you happy.
thanks for reading... I actually wanted to smash the machine to bits with a hammer and post it on youtube! I got it literally for free as in Europe they have a promotion where the value of the machine is refunded in capsules. I might just go get another one as I really like the coffee. The machine is still under warranty but I would destroy it for $50 if anyone wants to see the insides of it
online? Maybe that will make Nespresso take a serious notice huh?

I got a Vertuo Next to save money from Starbucks and so far I did not get disappointed. The coffee tastes much better than my old Keurig and just looks better with the crema on top. The machine reviews worried me at first but hey I thought if the machine lasts few months I made the money back compared to Starbucks, lol. Nearly a year later the experience is still spot on and I mostly used reusable pods, no real issues so far. All in all it was worth it but refilling the reusable pods is a nightmare compared to Keurig.

I LOVE my Nespresso Vertuo round head! I bought mine used and it works perfectly. The first owner had it for two years and used it a few times a week. I brought it home, ran the cleaning cycle, reset to factory settings, and voila, it’s been a dream machine! I adore it so much.❤

I bought my Virtuo Next from a liquidation outlet store and it has worked great for the past 4 months. I got an error light where it wouldn't brew the other day so I unplugged it, waited 30 seconds and the plugged it back in and it has been working ever since. I figured since it is computer related, it has to reboot sometimes.

This is our second K-Classic. We had our first one for many years, so when we had to replace it, we wanted nothing else but this exact th-cam.com/users/postUgkxBrV-RbF5Nk0Rlt9i15aao-YMzqzTG8Vf model. We use it for about three people everyday in the morning. The taste and quick brew is one of the reasons we like it so much. There are so many choices of brands of coffee that we would grab what was on sale and test the different brands from there. I would definitely recommend trying different brands of coffee to find the ones you like the most because there are brands that quite frankly taste horrible.

We bought a round head two years ago and not one problem with it. It's excellent. I bought a Vertuo Next for my office, as it's a bit smaller and sleeker. It has all of the same trouble you mentioned. I haven't gotten one cup of coffee from it. I began searching videos to see if I was doing something wrong and I came across this. So, I guess I'll be trading this is for another round head.

That was a great video. Thank you, I'm at stage two now. Sent back vertuo Next for exactly the same reason, and waiting to receive vertuo premium as promised by the customer support team. In fact, I wasted 3 sleeves in trials of clean, descale, reset, factory settings. Finally, I will cut it short, When I receive my replacement, I will put it on the marketplace, and I will never buy any more nespresso machines or capsules. I will get a professional one. These machines from nespresso are all crap.

Had two within a year. I drink coffee religiously. I used a virtuo plus in a hotel I was staying at. It didn't wake my fiance up being a few steps away. It's SIGNIFICANTLY quieter. The vnext breaks down for heavy users and is unreliable. Youre quite lucky that yours hasn't given you issues yet. By the way, I REGULARLY descaled and clean my next every couple of weeks on a day off and it still gave me problems . Both did. If yours starts showing issues, just go for the virtuo/vplus . Way quieter, easier to clean and reliable .

don't get me wrong Linda but the actual coffee from the Vertuo line is superior. I used to have a Stormio (big cup) from the Vertuo in the morning and Fortisio Lungo from my Inissia later on. There is also a wonderful Fortado from the Vertuo range. Try them at your local Nespresso if the testing station is open. But the actual Vertuo Next machine is nothing but frustrating. As if someone has time to send machines backwards and forwards all the time... that is pointless

Love the Nespresso coffees and the overall look of the machines. I am on my third Nespresso machine. First one was a Vertuo that did pretty good and then started leaking. Bought a Vertuo Next and used it till it started sounding like I was standing at the end of a runway next to an F-15 on full afterburner. Performance continued to diminish, not brewing full cup, blinking lights etc., got a second Vertuo Next from a relative that had only used it briefly and didn't want it. So basically a new machine. I'm a regular coffee drinker, 2-3 cups per day, and brew more if guests are involved. After a couple of weeks, same issues involving noise, not brewing full cup, blinking lights, numerous wasted pods despite running de-scaling and cleaning cycles. Glad I saw this video. I will probably try a round head machine based on your recommendation. If nothing else this prevented me from buying another Vertuo Next. If the Round Head doesn't fix it, I am probably done with Nespresso.

I've had round head for nearly a decade , I simply wait on sale in dec or with coffee credits , then sell my working round head machine on Craig's after cleaning decaying making sure it works. Win win , but I stick to round head chrome version . I've not had any issues. The sellnisba win win for example if I buy with good credits sale 100-150 credits and machine is 200, or less , then insell for around 60obo (cleaning kit) that way I'm not out anything, someone gets a good machine for cheap and I get a recently built unit. Many people do a similar thing with Drills that are on sale with multiple batteries.

I too thought my machine was faulty but in reality, it was ME that was faulty!! Not having educated myself on the machine, I did not realize there are different size pods that represent the amount of coffee the machine will pour (each pod size has barcodes the machine reads). As far as the orange blinking error light..if you place the pod in and lock it, walk away for a while, and come back to brew, the error message will occur...so you have to halfway open the lid, enough to reset it but not to let the unused pod drop....OR you can simply remember NOT TO walk away from the machine once you load and lock the new pod. Be sure to brew it quickly thereafter. I also own the CitiZ which I love for its design but this Vurtuo Next gives me the option to do the Pour Over when I have family over and a cup at a time won't necessarily do.

  • @lazpalmer3222

so umm... hold open the metal pieces when opening it so it doesn't throw the pod away if opening it???? also if it flashes red, unplug and plug back in press button and it works. only happens occasionally with self-packed pods using my own grounds. over-rides the safety off/needs cleaning red flashing. Been working just "fine" for me for years

I've had the machine for 1 1/2 yrs, past the 1 year warranty. Nespresso support offered to extend my warranty at no charge and upgrade me to the round head. Got a Nespresso Vertuo Next for my birthday a month ago, and I got the same issue as the person that said that their machine “froze” ( at time stamp 1:54 on this video - the comment/review titled “I’m at a loss with my Nespresso Vertuo Next”). And like what you mentioned that the first red flag was a leaking machine!!! It happened to me too! My boyfriend actually owns a Vertuo round head and he has had it for a while now without any issues. So I 100% agree with this video and I’m considering switching, or rather, upgrading to the same machine he (boyfriend) has. I really enjoy Nespresso coffee and I still have lots of pods I haven’t used. Considering gifting myself a vertuo roundhead or a vertuo plus for Christmas, but for now I’ll stick with instant coffee and give some capsules to my boyfriend so he can save money hahaha. To anyone considering getting a Next: SKIP THE VERTUO NEXT, JUST GET THE ROUNDHEAD OR VERTUO PLUS!

I bought the Brevelle Vertuo almost a year ago. The same model you ended up liking shown at the end of your video..(I need to break the Starbucks habit too!) I've not had one issue. There are a few things to think about though, in order to prevent some of the issues that popped up from the other models you showed, and to preserve the life of your unit.. 1) never slide the machine around. Its heavy and will likely result in leakage at some point. Clean you machine at your discretion using just the hot water process. Make sure to descale as recommended by the mfg. About 6 months in my case. It's based on how many cups of coffee you make monthly. Never run vinegar through the system. Use the Nespresso descaling solution. Its cheap.

My guess is I got lucky on this one. I bought a Virtuo Next at Costco in Feb 2021 and use it regularly, I have done the recommended cleanings and descalings. So far the machine has been working with no issues. Sadly you were not so lucky here. Either there is a trend in your usage, or pattern that is different from mine, or your water could be hard.
The company that made mine is DeLonghi. I have heard Beeville just about anything is typically reliable.
    Steps i do,
The system is open (and stays open when not in use)
I plug it in and fill with refrigerator filtered water
Add the pod and close, count to 10 and press the start button.
It warms up and start spinning and dispensing as expected
Then when I am done I pop it up.
On the rare time there is an issue, I just grab it and reuse it (if it did not work at all).

Customer support was pretty awesome by the way. Anyhow, it works. It’s convenient, and fast. It brews a good enough cup of espresso. With the frothing device, you can make a passable latte. Of course it’s no replacement for a real espresso machine, but it’s faster and won’t break your bank.

Re empty capsule, Cesar makes some excellent points , I don't remove the tops of empty capsules, I simply flush them with water at kitchen sink takes 5 min each for Luongo, the grounds are so fine that they come out the holes (eventually with some vigorous shaking and turning 90 degrees so disk is verrticle in sink it will seem to be not working but trust me on minute 5 it will ) I leave the tops on this way no fear of water back splash during machine operation I use either a small capsule or a large one depending on how much water is pre loaded . I do this to flush and get the heating plate in the machine pre heated . Never ran one for cleaning though. I have allot of empty capsule , why ? Eventually the top gets too many holes in it . Then a handy clean clean one with only holes from coffee brewing is there . I've not tried recapping.......yet I do have a breville grinder that costs more than my nesspresso round head chrome. ;) best of luck ill make another reply about my experience with machines

I’ve had this same issue with mine. I had the exact same make and color as your original one. It worked great for a couple of weeks (with daily use), then it starts chugging and spitting the coffee being brewed. I haven’t reached out to Nespresso yet; but I will. Thanks for this video. I thought it was me doing something wrong!

Everything you explained with your vertuo next machine literally just happened to mine with less than 2 months of owning it. I was on the phone with them this morning and they offered to replace my machine right away at no extra cost, they are sending me a brand new vertuo round head now. I am glad I made the right choice this time around. The rep on the phone even told me hes had his round head for 3 years with no issues and highly recommended the round head. Not as fancy looking but I look forward to getting it so I can be done with all this nonsense.

YES! Same problems. Thank you for patiently describing your issues. I've talked with customer service several times and they are ill prepared to help. I don't get it - because my friend has the same machine - purchased a few years ago- and never had this problem. Now I see this machine on ebay for very low costs. I love the taste of the coffee when it works. But to keep replacing the actual machine doesn't make sense either. Thank you once again for providing this vid.

We’ve had the Nespresso DeLonghi machine for original pods for about 9 months and absolutely love it. It actually makes real espresso with 19 bars of pressure unlike the Vertuo line. A friend gifted me a Vertuo machine for my b-day this month and both my wife and I agree that the original line tastes quite a bit better. The only slight issue is that we have really hard water in Oklahoma and so instead of descaling every 6 months, we need to do it every 3-4 weeks, otherwise the taste of the espresso goes down hill fast.

I have hard water so just use demineralized water.
When everyone started mining how their keurig broke after a year, mine gets used 4-6x daily and I’ve had it for almost a decade. Still works perfectly.

    • @Kluneberg
      @Kluneberg ปีที่แล้ว

@@Puglover130 You really shouldn't drink demineralized water(God forbid deionized). Water is supposed to have some mineral content. Having the water being demineralized makes it more reacting, when drank it will strip your body out of minerals and over time you'll develop mineral deficiency. Google it for more info.
Just use a brita or bottled water.

In Australia we don't have the Round Head model. We have the Vertuo Plus which has a dome shaped head. So I'm wondering if that's the equivalent machine.
I'm not sure I could afford the next price-point after the Vertuo because I think it's a big jump and I'm not a huge coffee drinker to really justify paying a huge sum for a coffee machine yet I want to be able to make a decent cup and serve one to guests.

After 2 years with the Vertuo Next, I got the dreaded double blinking orange light. I talked to customer support (which I must say was very polite and helpful) and after doing some troubleshooting, the verdict was a free replacement. The issue with the Virtuo Next is the bar code reader can get damaged, which renders the machine useless, because it can no longer recognize the pods. Definitely a design flaw. I'll see how my replacement does, and if it croaks, I'll just do the free upgrade to the better machine.

I have used a singular (Breville) Vertuo Plus machine since Father's Day of 2017 without any issues. I get the occasional descale alarms and complete the process and it just keeps running. It' s going on 7 years, no leaks, no plastic smell or taste, just good coffee. I would say that I do the "three press" to run the clean out cycle about once a month. That being said, a little attention to maintenance probably helps. I don't like to blame everything on a "post covid" world, but it appears everything has gone downhill since, both manufacturing and customer service. Hopefully we see a trend towards correcting that cycle soon.

Yes. Had exact issues along with overflow of coffee in the pod catcher. Cleaned it numerous times, and right after cleaning 1/2 my coffee ended up in the catch basin. Takes constant cleaning and maintenance. Have to use an eye dropper to blow out the little ports. Total waste of money. Daughter-in-law had the good one l. Didn’t feel I needed anything that fancy so got the one you showed with all the issues. Now I keep a towel under it because if it isn’t leaking water it’s leaking coffee. Not going to dish out an additional $300 just to get some froth on my morning Java. I’ll brew it on a percolator. Tastes better anyway and not near the hassle!

Yeah, sometimes I get this issue. Couple things I do fix it for me. Sometimes I unplug and replug the power cord. I never leave a pod in the machine, always drop pod after usage. First, follow direction to update the firmware. i didn't hear that in the video. Then I wipe down the inside of the machine in case the machine is dirty/or infrared can't read the bar code. Otherwise 90% it works where I turn it on, put a pod in, when its ready push the button. I have a Vertuo Next. I only kept it because you get great coffee and espresso from vertuo pods.

I am senior I.T. support Engineer for an American Company in Germany supporting ca 220 staff located in Germany, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Austria & Greece and I feel your pain 😀 I purchased my Nespresson Vertuo Next that included the Milk Frother as part of the Black Friday deal one week ago and so far so good, really nice results with every capsule. Admittedly early days so what I wanted to share is that although in our company we provide identical Laptops to 1000,s of staff it is more than strange that it is often the same few who experience issues that are often exclusive to them and even when that Laptop replaced they report once again issues that the vast majority seldom if ever experience. Based on this I would guess that if say 1000 people purchase the Nespresson Vertuo Next you can probably reckon that 20 of those will have some bad experience and half of those issues self inflicted by not reading the instructions carefully before and during use, just not good with handling hardware in General or just extremely unlucky. Now I am not at all suggesting that you fall into this category but murphys law is always there to frustrate us and I too am not excluded from this. I do think such posts warning against the purchase of a piece of hardware can be useful and hope you find a good reliable coffee maker. I still have my Phillips Senseo PAD coffee maker which makes a great cuppa and has being doing so every day for the last 1.5yrs and cheap and easy to use and will keep it at the ready should this one fail me.

I bought my first Vertuo Next on March 15. It stopped working one month later (wouldn't power on at all). My second machine only lasted a week before it started leaking at the head. Just picked up my third machine 2 days ago. This morning it started flashing orange and was leaking water into the capsule holder. It finally made my espresso, but it was making some awful sounds while it was working. This is the Breville version. I'm going to exchange it for the the Delonghi, hopefully this is a better machine.

I didn't have issues with Nespresso support though, I actually called and said I don't want to deal with another next I just want to switch to the round head, without hesitation customer support said sure. me and my boyfriend were surprised at how fast and little effort it took. clearly the next needs a revision. my mom and sister both have next machines that work and have been working for 2 years so it must be something within the last little bit.

Don't buy this one... after a year my machine starts to not recognize the capsules, and then they lunch an update of the software... worst,,, the machine make all the process... Clean/Decal but when it comes to brew coffee, run run run and starts blinking red then white again and in the app the message is clear " capsule don't recognized" over and over again.
After a video call with the technical department of Nespresso they realize the machine is inoperable to brew cause don't recognize the caps. Well they want to give me 30% off in a new one...
This is a common issue this brand and model have... You just have to see all over the internet, but they identified the problem... Know they have to recall all the machines but instead they give you a opportunity to buy a new peace of junk with 30% off, it's amazing this brand...
      Don't buy...

Thanks for the video. in June of 2021 I purchased the Next machine. Now, 1 full year later double orange light repeated over 4 days. My headaches starting to kick in. LOL. I probably drink more coffee than the average person, so I am sad that its now being replaced by the roundhead. I've grown attached to this next machine like it is my first born. Overall my experience with the machine was great, it did everything we wanted it to do along with multiple different sized coffee pods and fun seasonal releases. (Cheaper than Starbucks) I continue to be a Nespresso fan. The support team was very helpful in fixing issues several times over the course of the year starting at 8 months but my machine finally time for the graveyard just as the warranty expired. I kept my machine clean and descaled on a weekly clean /monthly descale basis. I hope this roundhead lasts longer than 1 year and I am excited to try it out.

My experience exactly, except for the plastic taste. I had a Magimix Vertuo Plus (a.k.a. Vertuo plus deluxe roundhead), working well and wanted a second machine for my bedroom - I chose the Next for a smaller footprint and Bluetooth. I’m not sure that it ever worked for a whole month without the fixed red LED indicating complete failure. Over a series of returns, repairs and replacements I got to know my DPD Driver very well, through the 10 visits he needed to make, collecting and delivering replacements. Eventually I called a halt and asked for my next replacement machine to be a Plus, not a Next and - Hey Presto! It does the job just like the first machine, reliably. Why can’t Nestlé/Nespresso either ditch this lemon or at least work out why it is so unreliable, as they must be losing an awful lot of money on many of these sales.

I bought a Next a few years ago. It worked fine for longer than yours ... perhaps half a year before it started leaking. Not soon after that I got the dreaded flashing red lights and refusal to brew. I cleaned it, descaled it, etc. Sometimes after sitting for a day I could get it to brew, but a cup or two later it stopped brewing properly. I got Nespresso to replace the machine with another Next and that one only worked for about a month. I didn't feel like dealing with Nespresso and going through the hassle of boxing up another machine and returning it, so I just bought another Plus (what you are calling Round Head). I've had that machine for 18 months and it's still working fine with no leaks.
The Next line does seem to be designed to fail and I'm shocked they even still sell it since surely they want people who buy into their ecosystem to spend a lot of money on capsules. Why sell a machine that has such a short shelf life when that very well might drive those consumers back to whatever coffee brewing method they were using before?

We are in Europe this year and got next here too, the trouble started a month after we got it, orange light that strangely shows or not with no visible connection to anything, and, worse for me, I can’t even close this machine because the lever on top does not work smoothly anymore. I am not looking forward to returning it because everything in this country is so hard to return (I bought a tea kettle and once I opened it at home to wash it I discovered that it was broken, took it back to the store only to be told that they’ll make an exception but I should have cut the tape securing the box and open it in the store to check the condition of the product). I’ve had two Nespresso machines. The first did not brew the coffee hot enough and always had to add hot milk to bring up the temperature. This was a known problem of the first machines produced. After a couple years, I ended up upgrading to another model made by DeLonghi with improved brewing temperature and has been working well for six years. However, I can’t say I’m crazy about the taste. I had a favorite pod but was discontinued. Most other pods taste the same and I find the artificial crema a little over the top. I still have the Nespresso and use it occasionally for a fast cup but now own an Italian made espresso machine which produces better results.

I got it as a gift. It works fine. Might a lil loud but it’s okay. Gets the job done. Don’t listen to this dude or others. Try the machine out and if it suits your need then keep it. It’s good for the price it’s at.

I’ve just watched your video and my situation is identical to yours’.
My first machine lasted only a few weeks before we began the process of regular factory re-sets, but it wasn’t long before these failed to solve the problem. Nespresso collected, and allegedly repaired the machine but 6 pods later, it’s failed again. John Lewis, from whom I bought it, insist it has to go back to Nespresso but Nespresso are saying it’s already been repaired so it’s down to John Lewis!
I’m totally worn down by my failing machine and wasted expensive pods. I now feel that no one is accepting responsibility. Had I not spent over £100 in pods, I’d ditch the machine, but currently I’m just stuck with a broken machine, with a 3 year guarantee and no one willing to take responsibility!

I have the round head and I have had issues. 1- machine would not spin after not using it for an extended period SOLUTION - use my clothes steam to thoroughly run steam over the spinning teeth of death. 2- very loud when brewing, I surmised it was a worn out cheap bearing, figured I would let it fail (but didn't have too wait long, see 3) 3 - machine would start brewing then stop, two flashing white lights followed, nothing could be done, descaling, cleaning, nothing would run, i decided to disassemble the machine to see if there was a blockage, none found, I decided to check the bearing. I took out the bearing and the rubber seal was deteriorating, fine black dust was everywhere. I removed one side of the rubber seal and used the only oil I have...coconut oil to clean the lube the bearing. I than partially reassembled the machine and with a smoother bearing i was able to get it into descale mode which ran smoothly. I then used a used pod and was able to brew a cup and the machine was also NOTICEABLLY more quiet. I ordered a new bearing on the ZON which will be hear tomorrow...free delivery (how do you do it Jeff?)
