Nice unit, nice install. One thing. Note on the part about hardware that has to be replaced. You recommended zinc hex bolts. That's fine if you live in dry climate. You may want to use stainless steel in northern climates. Stainless bolts are more expensive, but won't break bank. Also, a little lock-tite on those body connections would probably be good idea.
I did not use silicone but instead decided to use rubber foam that would seal as a gasket. I also filled the water channel so there would be no room to hold water also.
Can you buy the OEM rubber rain rail pieces that would fit where you did the weather stripping? Is there a Land Cruiser Prado part number to avoid Lexus up charge?
i believe someone in the comments section is doing just that. I haven't tried but am interested in looking into it for an upgrade video. Thanks for asking.
Cut the wires at your foglights and run to a battery source to see if it’s the lights or the power/ground. From there you can either replace the fogs or run a separate switch such as in my foglight video. I’m assuming you’ve already checked your fuses.
NICE.. looks great... i got mine in ... but im waiting on the oem moulding to fill in the channel to arrive before install... are you gonna get the black line fog lamp trim next?
@@GXBOB I bought the exact same HighFlying rails in February. I havent gotten a chance to put them on and I was worried about leaks so ive been procrastinating. One of my rear shells was cracked and I had to wait for a replacement too.
@@creepershaunt If you take a look at install videos by the big names such as Prinsu, Sherpa, etc...you'll see that they attach their bolts no different than the High Flying ones. Except they used silicone on their bolts and did not fill the water channel void while i went and did rubber foam inserts and filled up the water channel with rubber foam so there are no sitting water. If the big names are able to do it with the minimal , i'm sure you'll be fine with High Flying with some added protection of your choice.
@@GXBOB i'm definately going to fill up the bolts with silicone but im hesitant about the foam vs just buying the trim gaskets from lexus, I think its $200 for all of them.
Нi Bob, again from Siberia. I don’t understand why did you do this. Old ones are as effective as new ones. Don't you think the new ones look like you're from Texas? Sorry for my English. You are awesome!
I did it because my white SUV looks better with black trim. I am slowly converting the entire truck into a cleaner looking ride. My next project is a all black powder coated grill. Stay tuned for it.
@@GXBOBdisagree as paint is paint whether you shake the can or someone else does. My issue with the Oem rails is lack of functionality with my kayak rack system. Would prefer an aftermarket black version like the 4Runner. My gx460 (named hi ho silver cause she came from Vegas) is silver so the oem rails and bars blend slightly better but black would match my wheels and ko2s

Hi GXBob, my truck is stock, not lifted. The wheels are 17” without spacers. Running 265/70 17’s. We had to carefully drive home from the tire shop and do some trimming on the front wheel well plastic. But it looks nice and the KO2s are surprisingly quieter than expected.
oem rails/crossbars are too close to the roof and doesnt allow you to mount many roof boxes (yakima/thule) without scraping. these rails open it up to a lot of options for crossbars that now provide greater clearance.
Would it be possible to show crossbars mounted to the new rails? I’m sure you can mount several types of lights on crossbars for future videos. The rails look very nice
The white and black combo is such a clean f'n look
Wow . A 20 minute video with no F bombs . Bob is getting soft on us . 😉
Looks great Bob.
Because I saved it for the next video. Will come out shortly
Its beautiful 🍾🗽👍
OEM Moulding parts are ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH, CENTER LEFT; ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH, CENTER RIGHT, and Molding Roof Drip x2
Looks great!
Thanks Austin. By the way , you’re in my next video.

That's actually pretty slick, do you think they have matching crossbars?
They do not. I am looking into black universal aftermarket crossbars.

Hey Bob have you thought about installing the Black Line window moulding to replace the factory chrome ones ?
Yes I have. It’s on my list of things to do but I have quite a few stuff before I attack that one.
@@GXBOB Will be waiting.
Bob, have you researched the blackline window trim moulding and found a part number yet?
