Why not varnish the individual sub-assemblies before gluing him back together? It seems like that would yield a more complete and even coat with less paint rubbing off during the varnishing.
Since there is gun shells flying from the model, maybe paint the gun barrels red and add some bluish tint to the back of the gun, to make the effect of the gun firing
Day 10of asking EonsOfBattle to make a review of All quiet on the Martian front 2nd edition return of the tripods. If you want i can kiss your feet while begginh
9:14 For a minute I thought you were going to write "Yarrick" in the heart and now I can't get the idea that Gaz has a heart tattoo for Yarrick somewhere on his body. Great work has always by the way!
I saw his video where he painted them while drunk, btw I have a death guard army and seeing him paint them way better than me will intoxicated killed something in me 💀💀💀
Dude, that looks awesome! I think the saturation levels are spot on, having the skin being quite saturated but the armour slightly more muted really helps to direct your eyes to the face.
Jay, thank you for being such an exciting kitbashing colleague! I did an update on an old Biovore while watching this video. Your attitude was infectious to the point where I was willing to take risks. Happy to say, both models came out great! Time to paint...
Covering Gel CA glue with baking soda gives a very nice and very in scale wind blown sand texture, and for bonus points you can put down anything else you want in the sand before the baking soda, for extra extra bonus points bits of shell from a boiled egg make nice pottery or metal shards.
Theres something about the way you drybrush that looks so good! If not 2024, maybe 2025 could be the year we see you do a series painting a mini for competition...? You'd crush it.
Just found your channel, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm not a Warhammer builder (I'm a Gunpla builder), but I love your enthusiasm. Your techniques can still be applied to my own models. I have always LOVED 40k character designs though. Used to gush over them in magazines when I was a child.
It’s funny because yesterday I took an ork biker painting project out from the storage, and it is also a resin model ! Also, I wish this video came out before I started painting it, because I didn’t know that resin casts needed to be cleaned before painting ! I just need to be careful and I’ll add a varnish at the end !
So amazing as usual. What about adding one of those premade gun effects on the front of the barrel to have the gun be firing, since shell casing are mid-ejection on the gun?
would love to see some more of Jay trying his best! you're such a great painter, it's amazing how fast you churn stuff out but would be awesome to see how far you can take it
Speaking of "Never too much varnish" on my old metal Blood Bowl minis I would spray on 3 coats of gloss and 2 coats of matte. The newer plastic or resin ones, I just use 2 coats of matte.
You know, I keep finding myself being more and more drawn to Jay's videos. I can recognize myself when he speaks of being an impatient painter and loving to see results fast... CALL ME GUILTY AS WELL! He's taught me many tricks to paint faster and more efficiently, but keeping the quality high. Thanks for entertaining us Jay. Can't wait to see some more videos :)
I really like the golden gel and paste mediums for basing effects, The coarse pumice gel has been a sweet spot (although I do use the extra course and fine for different things). Might be worth trying for an experiment if you find yourself in an art store with a coupon sometime.
Holy shit! I'm getting into 40K miniature painting for the first time in 20 years - just bought the small starter pack with the three Infernus Marines and set of paints the other day, first base black spray and blue base layer body/jump packs done so far. I was literally just looking at buying this model! It's getting harder to find in Australia at the moment, but I want to start some Orks up because... well... Orks iz da best! I'd love to get my hands on a pack of Killa Kans too! Love the grey/black/gunmetal look to their armour.
Update! Just dropped back into my local hobby shop after work today and picked up about 15 new paints to to expand my collection, and start on my very first Ork Warboss XD I will definitely be picking up Thraka as soon as I can!
Yay! Best Boss Ghaz! Also stoked that you featured Hardcore Miniatures, who are an awesome small company. The model looks great, but I can tell you are an impatient painter, because I would have been off in the weeds on that model adding checks, dags, and painting every damn cable a different color. I would have liked to see more of a closeup on how you finished the rest of Ghaz's bionic bonce (the adamantium skull and the bionic eye).
At 8:55 mins, you got the dual cam. It took me a moment to figure out what was happening, but seeing the technique and touchup was that good shit. The paint on the finger showed a subtle transition of time as well. IDK who needs to hear that but whoever edits this good job man, that edit is so good tmr I'll sub to the patreon and message about that edit being good
artist hand giving us the bird in the background is always funny. Loved how this came out, don't sell yourself short Jay, you paint much better then 'Army Painter'. I came back at the end to edit this to say the editor who gave Jay the uwu face... that was evil.
5:43 How do you learn to personally move past this. I'm terrified of painting without doing sub assemblies and feel like I have to paint every angle of the part. 8:41 Using the wet palette lid as a texture palette *chefs kiss*.
Hi Jay, Do you use any airbrush thinner or airbrush flow improver at all when varnishing with the Vallejo Satin Mecha Varnish? If so what kind of ratios are you using? Thank you in advance!
Awesome paint job dude. For a future Ork video what assembling and painting up one of Kromlech's Stompa models? I was tempted to get one during their Black Friday sale last year but being made out of laser cut HDF was a little too daunting for me. They might be willing to sponsor the video if you reach out and it would be a pretty unique experience putting together a model that size out of wood.
Here is a little amateur tip for you, a pro painter, if you want bigger crackles from your crackle paint throw down a layer of PVA (Elmers/white) glue on the surface and let it dry right before you put the crackle paint down.
Hey Jay great work on this one. I really loved that you came back at the end and showed how to fix the broken shell casings, really helpful hobby skills. Sad news is after watching your video I think this Ghaz is better than the GW one 😢
This guy is the only reason I brought fallout 4 and played it for 300 hours and after playing fallout 4 to death, I started play fallout new vages and still playing to this day. This guy must have also restarted my love for warhammer for than two times now.
To not have his lucky and faithful banner bearer Makari, this is heresy! Jay, you make so make so many minis... how... could you forget this key figure to the mighty prophet of the WAAAGH, Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka!
You are a genuine person and I hope you find what makes you happy what ever that is. I want you to stick around but if you would be happier not on TH-cam then I think you should chase that.
I'm watching u since yeeeears dude and i gotta say u reaaally developed alot as a painter as of lately. its crazy! props. i would've drilled em barrels though ^^
Sorry I have a question about your bases , where do you get the cork you like to use for your bases , I've looked into it and sadly can't find a link or a video talking about which and where and what cork you use........thanks Jay
Alright buddy this! This is the lllaassst straw!! Not painting the under side of da bosses git clippa!! The female space marines, the other thing that was the last straw, and now this!! Da wagh might fail just cuz dis…..fantastic job on the paint job!! Def best Ghaz I’ve seen!!thanks gents!! Fantastic as always!!!
Please do some painting livestreams, I and I am sure quite a few others would love to ask you paining questions and get an answer live. Maybe make it a membership thing.

Looks like a Russian company. No thanks. Can't be trusted. And i wouldn't be giving them any bank information.

Oh you failed art school? Why not try politics?
Wait...what about Gazgul's lucky grot? He needs his lucky grot!
Excellent work as always though, you never fail to inspire.
you gotta pay 5 dollars more on top of this on sale costing as much as the official model base price
If they had the lucky grot GW might have sued them.
@AngelusNielson it's there in the video as you can see Jay handling it when he talks about the sponsor
@@AngelusNielson I guess they're going to sue them now since they have Makari on their webstore
But it's not Makari, it's a 'banna gobla'--not even a lucky grot! Totally different guy.@@internetman1213

For a minute I thought you were going to write "Yarrick" in the heart and now I can't get the idea that Gaz has a heart tattoo for Yarrick somewhere on his body. Great work has always by the way!
Totally a cheesy vintage looking tattoo of a heart with an arrow and " G + Y " written inside it 🤣
Jay: “I’m gonna take my time and do the arts stuff on this”
Also Jay: “LETS FIND A WAY TO MAKE IT FASTER”
Always impressed when Jay decides to try and paint something to the highest level he can, this is an *amazing* looking model. Really well done!
Day 4 of telling jay to paint his death guard
I saw his video where he painted them while drunk, btw I have a death guard army and seeing him paint them way better than me will intoxicated killed something in me 💀💀💀
I can get down with helping. Jay. Paint your motherfluffing death guard.
@@kaclag3987 maybe try painting while intoxicated, you know, for science and Papa Nurgle
Only assholes write those comemnts
I am behind this cause, Jay has been teasing us for so long 😩
Dude, that looks awesome! I think the saturation levels are spot on, having the skin being quite saturated but the armour slightly more muted really helps to direct your eyes to the face.
The Ghazkull she tells you not to worry about.
Absolutely amazing sculpt and a beautiful paintjob. Love it.
Jay, the beast and Ghazghul are completely different orkz my guy.
This man did not just say Gazkull Mag *UWU* Tkraka.
Jay, thank you for being such an exciting kitbashing colleague! I did an update on an old Biovore while watching this video. Your attitude was infectious to the point where I was willing to take risks. Happy to say, both models came out great! Time to paint...

Dude you are the first person I have ever seen show how to easily do those tusks! Thank you!
Absolutely fantastic paint job, the saturated skin works so well against the grim grimy metals. Another great bit of painting inspo/envy!
Theres something about the way you drybrush that looks so good! If not 2024, maybe 2025 could be the year we see you do a series painting a mini for competition...? You'd crush it.
finally, da biggest boss

Fun fact: Mag Uruk Thraka was named in "honor" of Margaret Thatcher

What an awesome paint job. You really have the TH-cam stuff cracked, high quality awesome videos and I don't have to wait like 2 weeks keep it up!!
So amazing as usual. What about adding one of those premade gun effects on the front of the barrel to have the gun be firing, since shell casing are mid-ejection on the gun?
Exceptional paintjob! Hugely inspiring. Thank you!

I’d love to see more malifaux content amazing paint job
That sculpt is insane
Jay, your painting is amazing mate. Been following you for a while, but this IS your best work!
I don't really have any interest in miniature painting but this guy's general enthusiasm is infectious. I find him really enjoyable to watch
I really like the golden gel and paste mediums for basing effects, The coarse pumice gel has been a sweet spot (although I do use the extra course and fine for different things). Might be worth trying for an experiment if you find yourself in an art store with a coupon sometime.

That is an impressive tactical tyre!
You’re right this is the best model you’ve ever painted. Seriously impressed man looks amazing
Brilliant job, orks is a army I always think of going to back to 8 years later, would love to see a video or 2 on thousand sons 🙌🏼
If you’re still looking for some cool basing material. I can recommend VMS smart mud. That stuff looks super real 😮
Did you know that the plate on ghazgul’s head is from the butt of a terminator.
I did know that lol, grotsnik knew what he was doing
I'm copying your horn painting method for my tyranids! The thin lines is a great idea
Yay! Best Boss Ghaz! Also stoked that you featured Hardcore Miniatures, who are an awesome small company.

I’m now joining this man on his quest to help him get you to paint your death guard army, so this is day one
9:02 Those ‘Instructions Details’ is what we were looking for as kids. *Heavy Metal* is full of Warning Labels
The only thing it's missing is muzzle flashes on the gun with a bit of osl. It's amazing!
The uwu heart gave me an idea of an ork Warboss painting a heart on their chest plate with "SHOOT HERE" written on it
😂that’s amazing
Somewhere in the grim darkness of the Midwest, before first light, Mr Jay is out there making videos.

Hi Jay, Do you use any airbrush thinner or airbrush flow improver at all when varnishing with the Vallejo Satin Mecha Varnish? If so what kind of ratios are you using? Thank you in advance!
What an intimidating beast, fantastic sculpt, I like it more than the GW version. Superb work, I'd be over the moon too.
If your orks can’t stop the (suspiciously powerful Sean) they certainly will crush Scott’s one painted unit of kallabites
The horns are AMAZING
Awesome paint job dude.

best hobby TH-cam channel by far
that model is crazy good
Jay idk how you did it, but you have outdone yourself!
This is exactly what I needed tonight! Thank you so much!
Dude your such an amazing painter! I think you should use this more on other minis and not just every now and then
Wow. What a result. Jay you make it look so easy. You're totally ready to tackle Morty
To not have his lucky and faithful banner bearer Makari, this is heresy! Jay, you make so make so many minis... how... could you forget this key figure to the mighty prophet of the WAAAGH, Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka!

Looks seriously good.
Sorry I have a question about your bases , where do you get the cork you like to use for your bases , I've looked into it and sadly can't find a link or a video talking about which and where and what cork you use........thanks Jay
It's generally admitted that many thin layers is the way to go, but it's not the only one. Look at Sergio Calvo, he does like his thick layers.
Ghazghkull Thrakka isn’t a miniature. He’s a largeature
5:56 Thanks for the Tip!

Great job it looks amazing!
'inspired' 😂😂
Man thats one euphemism
Verry impressive !! Wow ❤ now pleaseeee make your famous deathguard .. they are the best painted minis in the world if you ask me !
you painted your best 40k model - yet. might get even better in the Future :)
I fucking love this video I often watch it ,it’s just a good video especially the end result of the model
I forgot if you had Meganobz in your army already...if not...Da Gaz Guard is the next project.
It’s amazing to me that there’s so many companies out there that makes better 40k miniatures then GW.
Missing the checkers a bit, for a genuine Thraka, mate.
true ))
This man did not just say "Ghazghkull Mag UWU Thraka"
Please do some painting livestreams, I and I am sure quite a few others would love to ask you paining questions and get an answer live. Maybe make it a membership thing.
Wonderful work!
Whoah whoah wait can we talk about that texture on his bloat drone? How the heck did you do that
I think Nick would like a blue one of those for his bday
This is definitely a model you would want to have pinned The parts together and him to the base
those tusks are very bad ass!!!! love them!!
Needs burnt iron effects on barrels and exhaust stacks, IMO.
