Awesome video dude! That new Shimano BFS reel is a game changer for throwing wacky rigs with light line on a baitcaster. It’s so hard to pick a favorite bait, but I know I always have some kind of jig tied on.

Appreciate the answer Andrew I fish here in Florida normally the thick heavy cover a lot of pitching & flipping trying to master the wacky rig styles because of the heavy pressure the fish are under so I could give them something else to to look at

Another great video! Thanks. My go to is whopper plopper for topwater and wacky/neko rig 5" senko. You are right about the 10 lb test. I also find it works best. Line twists start to make me crazy by end of the day though.

VMC 1/8 oz wacky jig. I take needle nose pliers to the hook shaft and bend it out SLIGHTLY. Often times they come perfectly in line and that can lead to missed fish. Always let the rod load up before pulling back into the fish. You get 1 out of 20 when you try to set on a slack line. You did a great job of that in this video. Enjoyed seeing all the BPT anglers on Travis this week. Amazing!

Absolutely true; less is so much more. I’ve caught fish with panoptix in ten feet and watch the fish react to the bait. Totally awesome. I also started using VMC crossover rings huge difference rarely miss them. I watched that Cherokee tournament great job bro. I fished the Bfl regional last year, didn’t do very well came in 118 but had a blast. Great video thanks. Peace and God Bless

My go to bait on the little 500 acre lake that I normally fish here in Michigan is a Texas rig. I use an owner twist lock hook with a light pegged weight and a Reaction innovation sweet beaver in the hematoma color. Even when water is clear that black and blue catches them. Maybe because bluegill is main forage. Don’t know and doesn’t matter. Almost always get a bite on it.

  • @spacecoyote731

Here in FL, I always have a toad ready. Love the wacky rig, I almost exclusively throw a 1/8 oz flick shake, don't use o rings, and never, ever use brand new senkos, unless it's a full-on wacky fest, or in a tournament. My favorite tx rig worm is the Zoom Speed worm, so all my used ones get the tail pinched and used for wacky. Spinning rod is best for sure, for all the reasons Andrew statedd, and especially if you don't use o-rings. You'll throw the worm off the hook occasionally, which will backlash a baitcaster. (Come to think of it, I guess that can happen with an O ring too, so I just don't see the point in using them.). Caught em pretty good today on the wacky, targeting isolated spatterdock and a sandy creekmouth.

Confidence bait for me is a weightless truck worm / floating worm, followed closely by a finesse swim bait on an underspin.
Question on rigging wacky. Do you use an O-Ring, or two O-Rings, or just straight through the stick bait? I’m thinking two rings is best, so your hook is perpendicular to the worm. Wondering what you recommend?

Most productive for me: weighted Texas rig worm or senko type-- Yum Dinger, BPS brand or Ocho. Worm can be straight tail or small curly tail. Less often, ribbon tail. Normally on fluoro leader of 10-12 lb. test on 15 or 20 lb. braid.

I truthfully think the Bandito bugs are the hands down the best lures for catching bass. I put them right there with the Senko. I'm sure other creature baits are just as good but I really think Scott and the Googan team did an amazing job on the bandito bugs.

I've been recently using wacky rig and I've been catching a lot more bass at places, where it's hard to catch them. Although, the pond I go to where I catch on anything, they seem to not bite as much. Lol but, the point is, the wacky does draw our those big, stubborn bass. I like using weightless most of the time, on a bait caster and yea, I do go through worms a lot more I realize. Idk, I think bait casters make it go further, than spinning reels. So when it's summer and in the middle of the day and it's hot. Those bass are going to be further out in the middle and deeper. I also like to just let it sink as low it can go and just reel through bottom and just ride that bottom. I've caught alot of big bass that way, but idk if that's very correct way.
