Yes monofilament still catches bass and you have less break offs because of the stretch it is more forgiving and the cost is 1/4 of the price of fluorocarbon line. I like the 7 inch Senko for big bass. You da man Roland.
Using braid with mono leader cannot be beat. Benefits of having braid main line but the forgiveness and necessary stretch of mono leader is always a must for me
Thank you Roland just went out and got me some senko I make sure it's 297 green pumpkin plus I got me green pumpkin watermelon 912.. 🇺🇲🥊🎣💪💯🇺🇸.... Thank you Roland for giving us the knowledge and technique for us to become a better bass fisherman.💯💯💯
Roland I have to say thank you for everything you do I've watched so many videos on fishing and yet I've always learned way more on your videos no BS no sales pitch just straight up facts and you back it by catching large amounts of fish. I will have to also say I switch to monofilament on my own with my baitcaster and everything has been better My knots my wallet and my casting. Thank you for everything you do and sharing it with us

Awesome video Roland thank you for playing the wise grandfather to all of us ensuring all your tips secrets and wisdom that you've collected through the decades is much appreciated blessings and Aloha to you and your loved ones from the Great Lakes USA West Michigan checking in
I've caught more bass this year on a #297 Senko than anything else! Another good color for me has been the green pumpkin with chartreuse tail. They inhale the damn things! lol
I could listen to you all day Roland! Another great video! Thank you so much for providing such valuable information for anyone who enjoys fishing especially competitive fishing! you da man!!!

You give such amazing info Roland. My son's and I soak it up. I wish you were out here on the West Coast more often so we could meet you. I am taking my boys out the next few Saturday's in turn to Lake Jennings, Lake Hodges and Lake Poway. I will post picks of our catches to your channel so you can see how we do on the West Coast. Happy Fishing my friend. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Senkos and their many lookalike kin, have been my go to bait, in the last couple of tournaments. Fished them weightless, had good quantity, but most ended up smaller than what my team partner and I already had. Used mainly a black/blue or a baby bass color. But catching them was the most fun time.
I had so much luck fishing Senkos with wacky rig and circle hooks, I forgot how to really fish a worm. Well it's caught up to me, I have to be the worst worm fisherman out there..LOL - so thanks Roland for getting me back to basics, which I promise to do next time out - Texas Rig, Palomar knot, lightest weight possible, pegged- I have always used spinning gear and mono - usually 6 or 8 lb test, good distance casting
I us braid and flouro on certain rods for certain applications but my most used line has always been mono. Give me 12-14lb Stren anyday. Been using it since I was a kid and it hasnt let me down yet.
Roland: Great job on You-tube video presentations… learning a lot..I’ll be fishing clear waters of Canyon and Saguaro lakes in Arizona this fall. Question: should rig up my bait caster w/Texas rig Senko with braid & flouro leader or just mono? Thanks. Kurt St. George, Utah
Roland, love all your videos. You use green pumpkin a lot and I'm wondering if that is your favorite color. Going to look up your video on the uni to uni knot. 🎣🐟🦃🦌
Thank you, Mr. Roland. Please talk more about the MD reservoirs you cut your bass teeth on....Loch Raven, Tridelphia, Liberty. These are my home lakes! :)
I've started using weighted hooks a lot for worms. Good results. Basically a weedless rig but with more of a wacky fall. Do you ever do that? Still like the screw-in weights too. Great video as always Roland! You're the best!
Im thinkin he likes the senko 😂😂😂 Legend !! Don't sleep on the blk and blue flake 😉 His enthusiasm after all these yrs is Infectious. God bless you and yours Roland !!
Fluro carbon upsides: Does not tangle easily and is very durable, it is invisible in the water as well. Downsides: Really expensive, sinking in the water makes it harder to fish topwater lures along with not being able to watch the line when bait-fishing. and it does not cast as far as mono.
There’s a mold company out there that makes a core shot senko type mold where you can make the center hollow….I wonder how it might work to have the line go all the way through the worm and have the hook at the end of the bait.
Hi Roland. Thank you for your tutorials & recommendations! I am from South Louisiana. In your opinion, what type of bait/lures would you suggest for: Red Fish, Rainbow/Speckled Trout, and Sheep fish?
Roland, Triadelphia Reservoir is killing me this summer. Got any tips to catch them here in the heat? I know you did well on Triadelphia and Rocky Gorge a while back.
Mr. Martin you already know how I feel about the good ole 5 inch 297 green pumpkin senko. But the other day I was in the tackle shop and the had some of the 6 inch 297 green pumpkin senko’s. Have you had any luck with those?
Thas all i use is monofilament I can change out line every time I go out. For 50.¢ to $1.50: each reel to fill up.8 lbs line to 12 lbs line up to 20 lbs monofilament has been the maximum. But where I live there's not so big Bass.
U won't answer, but what is the purpose of a leader coming off Braid or which ever line? 😃😃😃, I should finish the video 1st before I ask a question, u answered what I was asking 👍
In my opinion you can’t beat a zoom trick worm wacky rigged with a split shot I’ve coughs hundreds on it and it still amazes me that the wacky rig is so overlooked
Try a weighted wacky hook. Or a straight weightless wacky work. I think they appear more natural than the split shot. You might trick some more skittish fish that way.
Any color will work, as long as it’s the 297 green pumpkin ;)
Green pumpkin, watermelon and Junebug is the only colors you need in soft plastics.

Florida in grass or anywhere heavy vegetation. Weightless or 1/16 just my opinion.
Thank you Sir!
When you bury the hook, is the hook point barely sticking out or is it deep in the middle of the worm?
I would like to know how many fishing poles and reels does Roland Martin have
I agree Roland I'm still a monofilament user. Maybe it's a Maryland thing. I would rather have fresh monofilament spooled than older fluorocarbon.
What do you have for simple a man do you have a the theater to the bug or the Seco I want those turn bought it
