I believe this illness to be a gift, as it shows where you went unconscious in life and what wasn’t working and what needs changing. Congratulations on your recovery

Being paralysed, unable to move a single finger and housebound like a vegetable is a gift???

Wow! You have been so inspiring Jop! I have realised that I am well on my way to recovery. I still get fatigued when I do too much and interested to see that you do to. I guess its just time that heals once you know what to do. The tools learnt on the CFS program are so valuable. I am back working and have integrated back into normal life albeit a lot calmer and a lot less stress! Still a work in progress!!

Glad I came upon this listen. The rest is hard and knowing limits is hard. Thank you for validating my struggle of not being able to stand long before needing to rest. Trying to understand my expression of CFS and needs of recovery and best implementations 💙💙👊🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Wow Jop and Toby, this really spoke to me today!
    Thank you.
    My takeaways from Jop:
resting is hard- but so necessary, just get on with it ( so helpful to hear this straight)
Health first ( after a day of trying to do too much- to do list before health )
I just found it really helpful to reset- remember to read my cards etc loads to think about and so encouraging to remember if I want it to work I just have to get on with it- even when I’m at a new level
    .
It’s easy to slip back into denial not acceptance.
I love how you just did it and got on with it and reaped the rewards of your patience. So encouraging. Well done you!
Toby I loved your explanation of brain retraining
    And
Hearing you remind me that CFS is neurological and not just mindset was also a very timely - I’ve been skipping the calming things which is clearly not working for me.
Wow, I’m on a path of renewed enthusiasm again! This is one to listen to daily! Bless you both!

Thanks Jop, I remember you helping me early on in my recovery at CFS health. You're an inspiration! So happy you're living life fully. Thanks for all the pointers, this program is one of a kind, but it all comes down to self responsibility 👍

Thank you for this inspiring talk! Acceptance of your condition -where you are now/today is so important. After three years it’s only recently I’ve stopped resisting. I agree that the language you use is so powerful! I have been telling people for years how ‘stuck’ I am and an insightful person asked me recently ‘Was it acceptable to be stuck?’ This set off a whole series of thoughts where I realised that it had been my choice to use that word. If I stopped comparing me now to the me before I wasn’t stuck I was just being me now! And actually was I a healthy person before - did I want to go back to being the people pleasing workaholic, non self compassionate me. No. So I re construed my language and decided that I am free not stuck - free to recreate a new healthy self. From listening to this podcast I’ve realised I need to go backwards and do less. Rest more. But that change in thought was liberating and I already feel calmer and happier. Thank you again for your inspiration.

    My take aways
Take a leap of faith by getting into the program
lean in and trust your body
It’s OK to ask for help and accept it
Do the work, no matter what that looks like keep taking a step forward
Believe in the process and you will start to trust yourself again
I am definitely sick and tired of being sick and tired and in pain all the time… Very frustrating !
Very powerful episode … thank you both 🙏💕🙌✨

This is spot on I'm so over the merry go round and into acceptance.. always used a saying of the day when I taught, so I'm starting the " card system" to read every day several times.. small steps add up.. it's not just the pages we turn/ it's the CHAPTERS that count.. inspiring, tu so much🙏❤️🕊️

Jop has explained this so well , I’ve got a lot from this video today, thank you
Toby please can we have something on moving from stage one to adding gentle movement. I’ve lost 21lbs and need to recondition but don’t have energy
I can prepare food in kitchen for 10 minutes but if I do one minute stretching on bed I crash…
What is restorative movement and breathing…. Is it sane as yoga
    Thanks …. Struggling Sue
Ps I’ve been doing nutrition, mindfulness etc for years

    • @suzannax
      @suzannax ปีที่แล้ว

It's not the same as yoga, it's slow increase in movement. For starters though you have to make sure you have a stable baseline. If you can't do the same thing everyday without pushing and crashing, that's what you need to focus on before building up. Hope that helps.

People who have good practical help, good support networks, always do much better in terms of management remission etc and oh what a luxury to be able to recieve help when you ask for it. The people left begging for many yrs on daily basis for practical help for many yrs do not get better so they gave up eventually as no options were left to ask for help tried so many avenues, no matter how much work they have done themselves including all of the above mentioned don't get better without any practical help. Hopefully one day people will be more helpful and kind to disabled people because my local community is atrocious towards mostly all it's disabled people.

Jop, thank you and well done 🎉 As always, just what I needed to hear. I could do with a copy of your cards 😊 but perhaps it would be more powerful if I created my own. Very inspiring. Cheers Toby.

My takeaway is that if statistics make you feel hopeless, ignore them.
Any progress is worthwhile, it doesn't have to be the black and white thinking of saying, if I can't make a full recovery, why try at all. I'd gladly take a 40% improvement.
