    We found this through one of our customers, Juan in Kansas City. He purchased the '03-'05 Motion Pro Nylon Throttle Tube for the Yamaha R6. He installed it on his Kawasaki Ninja 400 to reduce throttle throw, get a quicker throttle turn. This was a pretty cheap and easy modification. Visually, it doesn't look like a huge difference, but you can definitely feel it when you turn the throttle. If you've done this mod on your own bike, let us know what you think. All modifications done to your bike are done at your own risk and we are not responsible for anything that may happen.

    Ordered this and installed it in a matter of minutes. The difference in the motion in the video didn't seem substantial. In real life it made a lot of difference and makes the bike much more trackable. These videos have helped me so much in converting to a race 400. I try to use STG for every purchase possible. Thanks and keep up the awesome work!

    I think I can make a new tube at my work since I work with 3D printers. I can make this out of carbon fiber so it remains strong and I can modify that lobe to make the throw shorter if needed. Thank you for the videos. I’ve learned a lot about my bike and it’s transformed a lot over the last month. Wish YT allowed pictures to be posted.

    I bought this tube off you guys and did the install last night. There was no difference in throttle throw from OEM. I even swapped them back and forth using tape and a caliper to measure the throw difference. I measured maybe 1-2mm at best if anything. Not sure why my result was different.

    I noticed one guy mentioned this below, do you mind explaining how this tube is able to shorten the throw range without cutting off the higher end? I have a ninja 400 and the 1/4 turn is killing me on the open throttle upshifts.
    I'll take your word for it, but now I'm curious because I can't figure it out. Great videos, love the detail and thorough explanations.

    • @sportbiketrackgear

      The cam on this tube is larger than the one of the stock Ninja 400 tube is. There is no reduction in full throttle, just a shorter turn to get to 100%. This is the cheapest way to improve the throttle. The most effective is the Motion Pro Rev2 Throttle kit for this bike. Here is a link to the video install for that on our site: www.sportbiketrackgear.com/motion-pro-rev2-throttle-kit-kawasaki-ninja-400-2018/#pv__tabs - Van

I'm thinking of taking my ninja 400 on a 300-500mile trip all highway. Would that be to much on the 400 cruising at 8000-9000RPM's. I will be riding with friends on bigger bikes. i have a 2020 ninja 400 only 1800 miles, throttle stsrted sticking so i used this video for reference to disassemble throttle housing. put it all together and the throttle snaps back perfectly but there is no play. i tried making adjustments at the cable but its not giving me any freeplay what do i do?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      First let me say the throttle needs to be right otherwise the bike is not safe. All I can tell you is to try an follow these steps again and to double check your cable adjustments. Try to back them off a bunch to introduce a little play then adjust it out with the end result being just a bit. - Van

  • @letsride4496

    I installed a r6 throttle tube on my r3 but the throttle would snap back once the bars where turn left how dfo you fix binding

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sounds like the cables are too tight and need to be adjusted properly. I did not do an throttle tube install on the R3, only on the 400 so I am not 100% sure it fits the R3. Try loosening up the throttle cable adjuster (shorten the cable) and see if that helps. If that does not make a difference then you will need to tear the throttle down and make sure you have the tube installed properly. - Van

    • @sportbiketrackgear

      If you can not get the throttle to return properly then take it out. We did this on a 2018 Ninja 400 using the Motion Pro tube for the bike we mentioned and did not have any issues. ive been thinking about doing this for my 2019 ninja 400 but I am still a little hesitant on how well it fits. Since you have had this mod on for a while, can you give some insight on how its been? Are there any more official tube mods for it rather than using an r6 throttle tube?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I attempted this mod on my 2023 ninja 400 and my grips are sticking out more than the throttle tube. If I push the grip onto the tube any further it will touch the throttle housing and rub. My bar ends aren’t touching the over hang but it’s a little annoying to know that they aren’t on perfect. Did I do something wrong?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure which grips you are using but we used the Driven grips with this install. Some grips will stretch when you put them on and need to be compressed a bit. To do this slide the grip up to the throttle housing (make sure you do not have the rubber grip dragging on the housing). Once you have done that hold the grip at the throttle end then push the bar end side towards the throttle. If the grip was stretched this should shorten it back to its original length. - Van

      STG's first comment is correct. While the 05 R6 tube has a more aggressive twist, it also requires you to remove your throttle return cable. Whereas the 06 R6 tube allows you to keep the return cable, at a slightly less aggressive twist. I made a video on this as well, about 2.5 weeks before this video was posted.

    Wouldn't this mod just amount to not ever getting 100% throttle? Instead of the OEM 0-100%, now you have 0-85%. Awesome; not.

      No this mod reduces the distance you have to rotate the throttle tube in order to reach 100% or wide open throttle. - Van
