To this day I'll still sometimes boot it up just to do that haha, the world of Jak was the perfect escape for me as a child and I still hold the series in such a high regard :')
This game is truly a unique experience. It's extremely rare to find a platformer with the mature themes that this game bravely decided to tackle. From on screen deaths, to guns, to oppression and even slavery (holy crap). Not to mention the adult humour, some of which I'm honestly shocked made it into the game. I found the drastic change in tone from the Jak 1 jarring at first, but as I progressed, I became so immersed in the dark, brooding new world and plot that I didn't mind it. Plus Daxter is bloody hilarious in this game and I love him to bits.
Fun fact, the reason this game took a mature turn is because of a focus group conducted by Naughty Dog and their conclusion drew that children of this time wanted a more mature experience, thus straying away from the happy go lucky, cartoon-like games such as the precursor legacy and other titles similar to it like Banjo kazoie. When I found that out, I looked back on the games I played when I was a child. God of war, RE4, San Andreas and even Jak 2; I played for the mature dark themes. Perhaps games like GTA3 indirectly caused the focus group to reconsider the direction of the Jak series in order to keep up with the demand of the market. TLDR:; This game is so amazing for the fact it is literally a product of the time that it came out in, playing this game almost reminds you exactly how the early 2000s felt. Plus level design, story pacing, music score, and pretty everything else (except the bloody checkpoint disparity) all come together to make this game a gem in PlayStation classics
@@mindlessdillan Yeah, as a kid that grew up loving stuff like Madness Combat, Twisted Metal, GTA, Mortal Kombat, etc., it honestly felt like it just fit right in with what kids were obsessed with at the time. (Guns, cars, explosions, action heroes, watered-down alcohol/drug references, that kinda stuff) Edit: Oh yeah, Jak 2's checkpoints are the videogame equivalent of cold, old hotdog water

Such a beautiful and nostalgic track. Pretty dark game too. Makes you feel the despair of the people of haven city. i love this game so much, it will always be a staple of my childhood. Its such a dark theme that will stick to me until i die
I've always loved the cover art of this game. The images used are great and there's something so appealing about that blue background with the orange logo.
So Nostalgic 😢.
God i miss jak and daxter. I recently bought the ps4 bundle. Im reliving my childhood playing these classics. I just dont understand why we cant get a new jak game when we can keep getting old games coming to ps5 like ratchet games and crash bandicoot games. I honestly always preferred jak games over ratchet games, and i really hate the fact that naughty dog wont make a new jak
No point of doing that anymore. The panel which did this are gone and there are replaced by different people. It’s a risk now cause of that as it might go in a way we may not like
Naughty Dog are filled with people who aren't capable of making games like Crash or Jak anymore. They're too in love with their shitty realistic cinematic "masterpieces"
"Attention, description des suspects" "Je déteste l'odeur de ce quartier de la ville" "Attention je suis à pied" "On recherche les suspects" "Ici l'unité Alpha, on est en route" "Interdit de circuler ici" "Cette zone est interdite" "Bien reçu, on est en route" "Bien, on va vérifier" "Activité suspecte dans ce secteur" "Rien pour le moment"

When this game came out and I heard this music for the first time…
I COULD’T STOP PLAYING THE GAME
"Remember even friends might be enemies..."
Sometimes the villains really do be spitting bars and shit though dude. Lol.
"Verdächtige Aktivitäten in diesem Sektor!"
An alle: Gehe zu Fuß weiter!
"Ich hasse den Geruch dieses Stadtteils.."
"Seal off the area!"
ahh reminds me of the good ol days
"Sweeping for suspects"
Play this when you're out walking on a cloudy, dreary day. Trust me, it's worth it.
Imagine an open world game, with the map of jak2 would be amazing to develop this game in today's/ future tech.
What the fuck are you talking about? It was an open world game
"Follow me to a safer future!"
I just listened to 27 minutes of this without missing a beat. This music is absolutely perfect for just relaxing or working.
The city is safe. I will not allow harm done to you. Trust me.
