That's already a thing, check out pretty much any top level PB in the last 6 months and you'll see it. I even did it live at the ESA marathon in Sweden a couple months ago.
A lot of naughty dog games were for me. It's a shame no new Jak games have been released byt I'd love to play all of them from start to finish once again
Sandover Village has Crimzon boxes because for the cutscene they reused the TPL Sandover and there was some leftover code from that, so the scoutfly boxes are replaced by Crimzon boxes.
While you may not be able to entirely skip the Errol race, you can actually use your zoomer to push him off the edge at the very beginning of the race into the water section (be careful not to fall in yourself). He will continue driving into the barrier until his vehicle explodes, at which point you can finish the race as slow as you would like! Do NOT attempt to finish the race before Errol explodes, as he will rubber band to you shortly after racing away from him if he is alive. Credit to my 10 year old, extremely frustrated self for finding this lol.
If you use dark jak and stand next to erols car and dont let it explode he’ll drive half speed the whole time. And also if you miss a ring you can go through the entire race path without hitting another ring and youll win when you hit the stadium first
I wonder if Naughty Dog originally planned on Sandover Village being a playable level in the game, and that's why there's Krimson Guard boxes with Dark Eco in them.
8:58. It’s just because the TPL crates were just replaced with the JII crates, which is why they’re all in the same places as they are in TPL because ND just ripped Sandover’s level geometry from TPL and dropped it into JII. They probably just forgot to remove the crate spawns for Sandover.
Glad to see ya back! Here got some suggestions for you 1. You can skip the first boss fight with praxis on the palace roof. Just gotta beat the first phase is all 2. Speaking of the palace, after crossing the beam and watching the cutscene, you can actually backtrack across the beam and leave. Nothing happens except it's now more difficult to get back to the praxis fight because the ending platforms are down 3. I appreciate the work that goes into these my man!
8:47 Though i don't know how the game works internaly i have a theory. They simply created this level by straight out copying it from the jak 1 with some of it's assets such as crates. And if scout fly crate happen to have a code name "crate1" in jak 1 and kg crates also happen to have a codename "crate1", it would spawn the crate from the game where the level is.
After winning the final Air racer race, the Baron will order the Krimzon Guard to chase Jak down, but you don't actually need to escape, since dying will make the guards forget about him and you'll be free to go.
My thought on the Crimson Guard boxes appearing in Sandover village instead of the Scout Fly boxes is that the devs just imported the sandover area as is from Jak and Daxter and something under the hood has the Scout Fly box id or object reference be the same as the Krimson Guard boxes, likely due to the games having the same underlying engine.
One thing ive ALWAYS wanted to work towards, is making an entire video that goes from start to finish that shows all mentions of lore reguarding the precursors, info we have on them, interesting items in the world that some people may miss, precursor statues, etc etc, and see if we can piece together or figure out new clues, later do the same for mar and his legacy! i think the scout boxes/ crimson guard boxes were just happenstance, the games were still written using the same engine after all, they most likely used the same origin code for crimson guards boxes and the game thinks it has to put them in to sandover, as in the cutscene you pass the houses with those boxes in. also the zoomer section i KNEW they were all the same speed, it bugged the hell out of me growing up. but the single seaters are just easier to steer, so naturally they were faster while maneuvering all of the tight city corners/other vehicles
Myth: Is the drill platform modeled on the mountains? In the game, you can see a number of levels off at the distance at certain points, like the Precursor Temple outside of Haven or the Strip Mine across the water. The elevator/palace level is a good example of being able to see many minimally modeled level locations at once. My question is, though, can you ever see the drill platform? It is depicted as a facility above a crater in the mountains, but you never get a good enough look at the mountain to verify whether that location has been modeled into the backdrop’s geometry somewhere.
I always remember every time I got to the Erol race I would go up to his zoomer and go half-way into dark jak until his zoomer exploded. Pretty sure it worked with regular dark Jak at least, might have been big jak
Thank you for confirming the stealing the jetboard glitch. I tried doing this on a normal playthrough just to see what would happen, did it once then fell because I forgot I had one health.
Big fan of this series! All the work you put into each one is impressive Myth: Is it possible for all the racers in the class I-III races to die, so its just Jak on the track? If that happens can you win with a very slow time?
always a cozy video series to watch what happens if you are out of bounds and jump on an out-of-bounds zoomer, then have the zoomer despawn as you are jumping on it?
For Part 2, I think it'd be good to feature the Seal in Slums skip where you dark bomb the water. I think it's pretty well-known at this point, but it's definitely still neat. I guess one myth possibly stemming from that: can you do the same thing to the turret that stops you from going out-of-bounds in the pumping station? A couple others, maybe: the way you can get unlimited precursor orbs by mission restarts and get unlimited metal head gems in the mountain temple.
I never knew about that hiding mechanic at all! My guess why there's Guard boxes in Sandover would be that the boxes are modified scout fly crates, and the developers never bothered to clear the cutscene level of their spawn data. Could be wrong, but that'd be my guess.
I think the hiding mechanic had a random mention in the manual but is never mentioned in the game itself, which is insane because it's actually really helpful on certain missions and adds to the whole fugitive on the run vibes the game goes for.
The biggest myth in this game is Daxter having a secret death commentary in NG+, people still seem convinced it exists despite there being no evidence for it.
When it comes to stealing the Jetboard, whenever I was playing the Ps4 version, I started the Jetboard challenge, hover glitched out of the stadium, and at the last second, died by running into a crimson guard by accident. After I did that, the mission seemed to complete and I was able to keep the Jetboard, even after a save and reload. My friend tried doing the same in Opengoal, but wasn’t able to replicate. Not sure why he wasn’t able to replicate, but it was really nice having the Jetboard so early in the game
The Jak Trilogy is the most stubbornly surviving series ever. No developer does anything with it, but damn it if we die-hard fans don't keep talking about it!
There is a path to the developer picture of Jak II. There is also a path to the developer picture of Jak 3 but it is much longer and the devs even put gaps into the invisible ground to make it more difficult.
Can you drive a Zoom upside down? The answer is yes, but still fun to explore. My favorite way of flipping a Zoomer was to changes the height of a two-seater Zoomer by a bridge in order for the Zoomer to hit the bridge and flip the vehicle upside down.
That awful Erol race can be skipped in essence by simply not making any mistakes. If you keep Erol behind you and out of frame, as long as you don’t hit anything on the way to the goal his rubberbanding will actually keep him behind you.
Something I've always wondered is whether it's possible to steal a Hellcat cruiser and then drive it around long enough for the alarm to stop. Every time I've tried this the guards always blow up the Hellcat cruiser before the alarm stops.
Steal one in the port and hide under the bridge between the two towers. If they spot you just move to another side of the bridge and pretty soon you'll have a spotless Hellcat to freeroam in
Once upon a time, I remember loading the Dig Site Jetboard mission on mission select, but for some reason the wooden boards that sealed off the rest of the tunnel did not load. This allowed me to go down the tunnel that ordinarily led to the Lurker village, but instead it lead straight into an abyss. So maybe it would be fun to explore whether the wooden barrier could be bypassed early in order to get to the Lurker Village section of the Dig Site before the mission where you are supposed to go there.
Amazing video!! Hey, got a quick Myth!! In the seal piece mission at the water slums, there is a "proper" way to make it? I know there are ways to cheese it, and of course you can run and gun all the way to the end, but can Jak defeat all the Guards? I vaguely remember that the cruisers spawn back if you are too slow, so my true question would be if those cruisers are infinite or not...
Using debug mode, is it possible to spawn the Racecourse Zoomer and Boost Orbs in Haven City? In Destroy the Sewer Turrets, is it possible to reach the other side of the broken bridge when it breaks, above the Metal Head dark-room ambush? Also fun fact, using the Vulcan Fury on Krew’s boss fight allows you to shoot Krew into the eco transport, which he’ll phase through!
I know you're known/used to "mythbuster" style videos, but honestly just a good old fashioned LP of Jak 2 would be good, especially with all your knowledge. Think of it like a guided tour though Jak 2
Myth: Behind the mirror in the Hip Hog Heaven is a duplicate Hip Hog Heaven, along with doppelgangers of Jak and whichever other characters are in the bar at the time that mimic your moves. (This is how they achieved the mirror effect, the 'mirror' is actually a window)
Lovely video! I love this game to death, and I'm glad I get to see new content for it, whenever the chance arises! :D For the ring race against Erol, its possible for him to die by normal means, its just rare but it makes the race super easy. Another one is that if you destroy his vehicle before the race starts the game softlocks. XD If you damage his zoomer enough (like if its on fire) it will automatically repair itself upon the race starting.
I had no idea that I could do the sandover village glitch on my PS Vita ! I thought that was only an exclusive PS2 glitch. Oh boy. 😀 Makes sense you could do it though with the de bug mode. Never thought of that. Thanks bro ! I pretty much knew everything else that was either confirmed or busted though.
Love these videos, I’m learning so much lol! Question: when the metal heads have taken over the city, I noticed that if a scorpion metal head falls into the water at the port and water slums, it will occasionally get stuck in a damaged pose and just sort of freeze in the water like a statue? What’s going on there?
Missed these videos! I was wondering: is 'griding' with the Jet board a property assigned to a surface (like 'ground', 'slope' or 'ice') or is it something Jak can do simply because there's a sharp angle between two surfaces? Could it be possible for Jak to grind in Sandover village, since I assume they wouldn't intentionally program any grinding there?
This is one I've always wanted to know. If you lined up the two versions of Samos' hut, is there any overlap on the two maps? This one is hard I figure because you'd almost need a custom topographical map of the first two games.
Can you check to see in the circuit races that when you make your way on the track and when you destroy all the other races zoomers, that you can still race if you are able to make it back to the beginning entrance.
Great video man, looking forward to this new season of Mythbusters! I have two myths that I'd love to see tested: Is it possible to get a zoomer (big or small) through the loading doors into an area like Haven Forest or Dead Town? Is it possible to play as Jack during the boulder or spider section in Mars Tomb where you normally play as Dexter? Keep up the great work!
Do we know of any missions that were cut from the game? I already know the answer is yes, a city defense mission with Torn towards the end of the game that sadly also cut out with it a cutscene exploring his backstory, but maybe there is more though?
Great vid, those stats you showed for the Zoomers were very interesting, I’m curious where you found that. So it seems there is no speed difference between the many of the 2 seater Zoomers compared to the 1 seat zoomers, they just “feel” faster. Would you be able to get the exact stats for the toughness or health of the Zoomers? To see the real numbers of how much stronger certain zoomers are compared to others
The OpenGOAL project ported the game to PC, so anyone can gain access to the source code. The source code of vehicles is what was shown in the video. Vehicles do have health variables, so yes their “strength” can be altered.
In the pumping station, there is a grind rail that is accessible but not usable early on in the game. It leads to an area later on in the game. I've been able to get across this area early, however the door on the other side is closed. Is there a way to get to the other side of the closed door? I'm no good at the glitches and tricks in this game.
0:43 It's an easy false. There are missions requiring use of a gun turret, like the drill platform missions. There are missions where you need to shoot targets you cannot reach without a gun, like the factory you go through before fighting Krew. 1:11 Nope. Looks like you cannot continue progressing through the game if you "skip" this part. I wouldn't be surprised if you can still trigger that part by going to the location. By this logic you can technically skip any part of the game by simply not progressing through the game anymore.
Bit of an odd comment, the video literally tells you gunless is possible. Sure you cant complete every mission, but the myth says "complete the game", not to mention the Weapons Factory mission you mention is very completable without guns. Also you can skip the Kor & kid mission and still progress, but I guess Ruh wasnt aware of that (or left it out because it's pretty unrealistic without save states)
@@The_Stellar So you're saying because the final boss died without being shot that counts? By your logic it would count if even if ONLY the very last hit on he last boss is without a gun. Obviously that's not what is intended when someone says "complete a game". If your teacher says "complete your work" does that mean only answering the very last part of the last task on the worksheet and nothing else? If you're about to smash a girl and she says "let's go to completion" does that mean rubbing it out but only inserting yourself in her for the final stroke? If you spend millions of dollars for workers to build a skyscraper and you tell them to complete it, does that mean they should simply hand you the final part they'd use during construction and leave with your money? Nonsense logic.
@@mrlloydval2887 you're right that is nonsense, luckily that isn't at all what I said :) Completing the game gun-less means completing the game, without firing a gun, not sure what is so hard to comprehend about that. It does not mean shooting your guns the whole time and then hitting the boss without a gun at the end, no idea where you got that idea from. You're welcome to think that completing the game requires beating every mission the way the devs intended, I couldn't care less. honestly though, the rest of your analogies are just hilarious, so thanks for the laugh "let's go to completion" sounds like what ChatGPT would say during sex
@@The_Stellar So we don't have to beat every mission in the game the way the devs intended? Okay check out my world record speed run. It's 10 seconds. I simply enter dev mode as soon as the game starts and complete the game.
My biggest piece of interest with Jak II finally being in OpenGOAL is if we can find a way to consistently get Krew Skip
That's already a thing, check out pretty much any top level PB in the last 6 months and you'll see it.

if you try to shoot young samos in the forest after the protect samos in forest mission a subtle force-field protects him while he meditates :)

I know it's possible to beat Baron 2, Krew, and Kor without guns, but can you beat Baron 1 without guns?
yes***
Really enjoyed this one: comment for the algo
Can you bring the Titan Suit to Haven City and talk to NPCs with it?
Great game
Part 2 please
Can you get the crimson guard car into Haven City?
I think that was in Jak 2, if it was in Jak 3, correct me.
I think you're referring to the Factory Car, which is in Jak 3. I'll keep this one in mind for when I get to Jak 3.
Is there dynamic music when you have a weapon out compared to not having one?
Myth: Jak was supposed to be THE Mar.
Spoiler:
I already know the answer to this one, but I'll leave you to do the heavy lifting. Like Torn.
is it possible to get to skip from the pumping station missions to the drilling station missions
In the pumping station, there is a grind rail that is accessible but not usable early on in the game. It leads to an area later on in the game. I've been able to get across this area early, however the door on the other side is closed. Is there a way to get to the other side of the closed door? I'm no good at the glitches and tricks in this game.
I just realized this second area is called the Dig Site. It's been a while since I've played the game.
Does Mirror World modifier have more differences than just mirroring the game world?
I love you

10:29 OST name, please?

@@PunishedRuh Thanks a lot, man! 😃👍🏻

It's an easy false.
There are missions requiring use of a gun turret, like the drill platform missions.
There are missions where you need to shoot targets you cannot reach without a gun, like the factory you go through before fighting Krew.

Nope.

So you're saying because the final boss died without being shot that counts?
@@mrlloydval2887 you're right that is nonsense, luckily that isn't at all what I said :)
Completing the game gun-less means completing the game, without firing a gun, not sure what is so hard to comprehend about that.
It does not mean shooting your guns the whole time and then hitting the boss without a gun at the end, no idea where you got that idea from.
You're welcome to think that completing the game requires beating every mission the way the devs intended, I couldn't care less.
honestly though, the rest of your analogies are just hilarious, so thanks for the laugh
"let's go to completion" sounds like what ChatGPT would say during sex
@@The_Stellar
So we don't have to beat every mission in the game the way the devs intended?
Okay check out my world record speed run. It's 10 seconds.
I simply enter dev mode as soon as the game starts and complete the game.
Huh... didn't know there is a stealth mechanic
how much of sandover is rendered and can you leave sandover?
It is possible to bring Green Eco in mar's tomb?
