Hey all, hope you enjoy this one 😎 even though I use some pretty unique and specialist tools there are still heaps of tips and tricks throughout the video that all modelers could apply.
I’ve included chapters to make it easier to navigate through the video and with the new TH-cam update you will be able to see the different chapters as you scrub through the timeline, or the full list of chapters is in the description 😉

Luke - I suppose this is as good a place as any to add my thanks to others.'
This bridge tutorial is stunning, but honestly it's the sort of imagination, ingenuity, craftsmanship and quality we've long come to expect from you. Your hands are those of a true master and your mind works hard.
I especially want to comment on your generosity. There are a raft of others who post what is sometimes excellent material. There are also those who jealously guard their techniques and what they've learned, or who are not as able as you are to put the material they share across as artfully as you do.
Your posts are the product of as much hard work to get the video, and the occasional related linked extras, down perfectly as much as the design and construction of what you present. Your videos are now on my short list of go-to sources because I know you won't waste our time, your methods and instructions are tested, reliable and superbly well thought-out. Your results are an inspiration.
So, thank you as much for your generosity in sharing every detail as for the excellence of the materials and techniques you introduce us to. Your presentations are one of the best representations I know of, of the welcoming kindness of the modeling community worldwide. You are one of our best examples.
I'm an old Navy man. We take a sort of proprietary view of an old blessing that's been around as long as sailors have been, and I offer it to you with my thanks, respect and admiration: may you always have fair winds and following seas!

I had the chance to go to Ironbridge on a high school ‘holiday’ trip once, but the alternative choice was the Lake District, and I picked to go there instead. It was quite memorable, mostly because my classmates behaved like dicks and I got food poisoning, then someone else had to get medical attention for a cracked rib at 3am. Good times!

  • @allanatwick1606
    @allanatwick1606 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

When I first looked at the thumbnail pic I thought "that looks really familiar".
I used to live near the real iron bridge here in the UK, over 40 years ago!!
Woodworking type joints were used to assemble the individual pieces together and the bridge was considered a technological marvel in its time.
If memory serves me well its in a slightly different setting to what you've done. I think It's built in a gorge that had terraced houses running parallel to the river on one side and trees along the opposite side, it used to be a beautiful place but I expect its changed somewhat since I last saw it.
    Superb tutorial as always.
And it literally DOES look like the real thing.
In my opinion your the best scenery expert on TH-cam and your tutorials have helped me a bunch.
Thank you for your hard work.

It has changed quite substantially since then its now a busy highstreet with many shops restaurants and pubs including a world famous butchers and you'll probably remember the 4 cooling towers of ironbridge powerstation whish were some of the largest in the UK well they were demolished no more so it looks rather different there now.

@@kallumwilliams5020 I lived in Telford not far from the Thomas Telford school in a place called Wigmore woodside from the age of 5 or 6 and at about 7 my best friend and I got hold of a map book and decided it didn't look very far on the map so we walked to iron bridge from Telford. We got there OK but couldn't find our way back and my parents had to come and get us.
I don't remember too much about the area around it but I will never forget the bridge.
Oh, and the old iron works that was close to it, the school took us there on a field trip showing us how things were made back when the bridge was built.

The production values, trick photography, music and overall quality of these videos is really far and above what every other You Tuber produces. Thanks for the amazing videos especially in these hard times.

  • @MrBilld75

You're spot on with the claim that "water scenics really draw attention". Coming from an automotive scale modelling background, this is 100% true. We have a diorama category in scale auto shows/contests and epoxy water always draws people in and they tend to frequently win. The only time water dioramas lose in fact, is to other highly creative works that are equally interesting. Like one of the scene from Home Improvement, when Tim drops an I-beam through a car.
Apparently, the act of smashing an I-beam into a hot plastic scale model car, ends up with a lot of burnt fingers and isn't the easiest thing to do, lol. And he got the broken window glass perfect in the diorama. So he won by sheer ingenuity because people were in awe of the authenticity, it was an epic diorama. But water ones win every other year, so there, lol. I think one of the biggest questions besides "what was that like getting the I-beam smashed into the car so well?" was the question "how did you get the glass that is still in the door to look so real and jagged, it's so realistic" and indeed it was. It's one of the things that really, really catches the eye and do you think I can remember how he said he did it? Haha, it's been many years and I was only half listening cause my buddy's kid was blabbing.
