    So basically screw the mustang and get the roomier, more fuel efficient, and evidently faster Taurus SHO.

      If you have the extra $10k and more for some tuning love...OR...or...If you have small demons that were spawned from your seed and need to go to evil meetings like "soccer practice" and "recitals"...Sure, buy the SHO.

      Michael 1 It's only 300$ to tune your sho!!! Spend about $500 on mods for ur sho and ur looking at around 400hp! Not bad if you ask me and they have nice features like heated/cooled seats,paddle shifters and remote tint for back window! Shit like that you usually see on luxurious cars,i want one lol

    The Mustang has always been my favorite car and my favorite sounding car, but I do think the last gen of the GTO and the G8 were the best sound cars ever.

    I love seeing this :) I drive a 2007 Shelby, and we just bought my fiance a 2010 SHO. I honestly wasn't aware that they made these again ( I was aware of them in the '89-'90'ish version, didn't even know they were a thing again, or that they made them as long as they did!). We traded in her Edge SEL, and needed another AWD vehicle. Imagine my joy when I found out that I could get a TT V-6 AWD car, and convince her it was a good thing since it was AWD :) I swear, we get more thumbs up in her car than my GT500. Yeah, it's a pig-boat, 4K+lbs, but the AWD scoots it off the line nicely. She wants a bit more "sound" out of the exhaust. I agree, it's too quiet, but I told her that's what people expect when they buy a full-sized auto, zero road-noise. And man, that car has zero road noise. Not sure what they did, but I but 500 of those lbs went into sound-deadening!

      @ManSpider Not to necro this comment thread but I just picked up a used 2011 SHO. My insurance went up 66 CENTS/month from a Lincoln Town Car. 29 years old though, no accidents or tickets on record. Would not want to see what a new Mustang GT would do to my insurance rate.

    To be clear: The SHO is tuned. And FI cars benefit greatly from a tune. The 5.0 is stock in terms of power. Given the weight and V-6 in the SHO it is still impressive. G8s are decent cars from all I've seen and heard. But a stock G8 is a high 13 second car, the SHO stock is low 14s and the 5.0 stock low 13s. This is not a matter of debate. The numbers and videos are out there. For every G8s in the low 13s there is a 5.0 in the 12s. Once you start modding it is a different matter. All mods being equal the lighter, more technologically advanced 5.0 will always have the advantage, all fanboi-ism aside. The great thing about an SHO is that with its AWD, it is fast year round, no matter what the road conditions.

      Search TH-cam for "2014 5.0 GT vs 2011 5.0 GT vs Cammed G8GT". A G8 with ported heads, cams and many bolt-ons is beat by a 2014 5.0 with only catback. Is what it is!

      the mustang is not stock it makes 375 rwhp factoring in the 15-20 percent parasitic drive train loss that cars receive the mean the motor is puting out 450hp- 470hp and the stock motor for the 2011 mustang 5.0 put out 412hp and was putting about 330-350rwhp to the ground so it got some work done to it too (rwhp= rear wheel horse power)

      Ah, last time I looked a stock 5.0 ran 12.8@113.... You might want to update. It's a full sec and 8 mph faster than the G8 GT was. The G8 GXP on the other hand would get close, running a 13.2@110 mph.

    • @tech4dummies584
      @tech4dummies584 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tavante Tyler Stock MT82 5.0's have been putting down around 370 at the wheels on average, straight off the lot. Autos are making around 340 last time I checked. The kind of driveline loss you're talking about is closer to an auto, the standard doesn't lose nearly as much. And Michael Harris I've seen a stock MT82 5.0 with the brembo package and 3.55 gears run a 12.6 @ 113 if you can believe that. Guy was trapping at around 6,500 in 4th gear, where 3.73's would be all over the rev limiter.

    @MrCpe9775 The SHO ran 12.90 at the track, the Mustang ran low 13's. With a tune, the Mustang went low 12's, but when the video was shot, the Mustang was stock.

    Yes I read the title; I was talking stock for stock; THEIR SHO can beat a near stock '13 GT, which is indeed very impressive for what is essentially a CAI, tune, and exhaust. I plan to buy this kit myself when I get an SHO in the near future, assuming the Air Force accepts me :)

    I love the 2011 Mustang. They finally got it right, doing away with the anemic 4.6 SOHC as the base V8. But, and this comes from experience with V6 twin turbos, a turbo vehicle, especially a 6 cylinder turbo engine, has MUCH potential and takes little money to get a lot of extra horsepower and torque. All it takes is raising the boost. Depending on the size of the turbos and fuel injectors/fuel pump, you can get quite a jump in power.

  • @chrismonroe8417
    @chrismonroe8417 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Only thing they got right in the video was the G8 and that LS power ;)

    • @LivernoisMotorsports
      @LivernoisMotorsports  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      While we were quite partial to our g8 gxp, none of the cars in the video should be underestimated :-)

    • @twizz420
      @twizz420 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Chris Monroe Pfft, please... The LS is only good because the blocks are cheap and easy to come by. If you put the same amount of money into go-fast mods on both engines, the Coyote will outperform the LS even with less displacement. It's a newer, better, more efficient design. The things that hurt the Coyote are the physical size of the engine, it has less of an aftermarket since it's still fairly new, and the cost of the block itself. Those are the only reasons that the LS can still compete with the Coyote.
      Don't get me wrong - the LS has been a great engine up until now but the Coyote just IS a better engine. I would be happy to have either.

    The G8 is a GXP with a manual trans, cam, CAI, headers, and exhaust. It runs low 12's on a stock street tire wheel hopping like crazy. It would easily beat both cars in thei video

  • @cerebraldamage
    @cerebraldamage 14 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @TheArfdog The old 4v's have already eclipsed 450rwhp
    The new 5.0 has recently made 414RWHP with a drop in filter and O/R exhaust.

  • @rmiles01
    @rmiles01 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @TheArfdog
    i dont understand why you dont get it. the 4v motor has 2 intake valves per cylinder opposed to nthe ls3's 1 intake valve per ncylinder. the two smaller valves cover more area than one large valve.
    put it this way. its a hot summer day, and you can get a 12oz drink or a 20oz drink. but there is a catch, the 12oz is buy one get one free. so, 2 * 12oz = 24oz. so the two smaller drinks have more volume total than the single large one.

  • @LT1HILLINGHOE
    @LT1HILLINGHOE 13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @Cuseball121 LOL....neither one were spinning, so AWD had nothing to do with it. SHO just flat out raped the 5.0. An SHO has always made easy work of any Mustang since 1989.

  • @rmiles01
    @rmiles01 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @TheArfdog
    actually area of a circle is Pi*(radius squared)
    ls3 Pi*( .5 * 55mm squared ) is less than 5.0 Pi*(.5 62mm squared)
    per cylinder the ls3 has one (1) intake valve at 55mm. the 5.0 has two (2) 31mm intake valves.
    sooo what is it that you dont understand?

  • @bigm3436

    @AdverbAdjective In the meantime you keep on rolling those Hot Wheels on the walls and the lunch tables at school. Tell all your school friends about your collection and that you also have a vinyl Hot Wheels case to put them in when you're done playing with them at bedtime.

  • @wnt2gofst
    @wnt2gofst 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @40markava It is twin turbo and all wheel drive. Plus the stang only has suspension work in this video the SHO has a tune making it alot more hp then the 365.

  • @eyesonjamie

    What front bumper is that on the mustang? Looks awesome with the fog lights at the bottom.

  • @wnt2gofst
    @wnt2gofst 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @FordGTGuyThey are stripped interiors with a Kirkey racing seat, running 4.56 gears with a spool, clutch, complete drag suspension (adjustable struts/shocks, drag springs, adjustable panhard, Metco upper/lower arms), Bogart race wheels with slicks/skinnies, full exhaust, and then to top it off they "weren't sure" on the nitrous jetting.
    So after all that it is still only nos ok..And with those mods there is camaros and G8s running same times.

  • @rmiles01
    @rmiles01 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @TheArfdog
    500 crank or whp? its right at 450 crank from the factory. and when it comes to hp, its airflow that tells the tale. 4v > 2v all day. the cubes just make up for the lack of valves.

  • @willj78

    @GTO19020 Just to clarify, yes a tune on a TURBOCHARGED vehicle can cut 1-2 sec off the 1/4 mile time. Raising boost is the biggest factor in these tunes. BMW 335i, GTI, MAZDASPEED 3, COBALT SS T/C...all examples of such cars that have the potential to whoop major ass with a tune.

  • @spamcans05
    @spamcans05 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @TheArfdog I was talking mod-for-mod with the G8 in my initial post that started this debate. I was simply basing that on the 5.0 has a higher starting horsepower than the G8 GXP, therefore the same mods on each car, the mustang should end up with higher horsepower than the G8 GXP. Stock dynos for the GXP show 365-367rwhp and the new 5.0 at 375-378rwhp. Just my 2 cents.

  • @KASILL
    @KASILL 14 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @redd7188
    @redd7188 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @ohioborn80 the edmounds video of the dyno has the car putting down 395 to the rear tires which suggest ford is being conservative and it really makes close to 450 at the crank. Do you think that it is a bogus video?

  • @TheArfdog
    @TheArfdog 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @rmiles01 Um I never disagreed that CFM determined hp.
    But how are you going to get more CFM through a smaller intake valve area? (2150 mm^2 vs 2463 mm^2)? I'll let you guess which has the bigger valve area, it's not the 5.0. Smaller displacement and smaller intake means the 5.0 won't make more power with bolt-ons than an LS7. I doubt it would match even an LS3.

  • @BIG570S
    @BIG570S 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    5.0's make around 375whp stock...So that was a STOCK 5.0 vs a mod'd AWD SHO...Wow big surprise on the outcome on a race from 0-70mph!!! GREAT vid!! Now lets see the outcome on a 50mph roll vs that same stock 5.0!

    @LivernoisMotorsports Has there been any reliability issues with the ecoboost with the tune on it? The engine will be stressed a bit more than normal. I ask bc I currently have a 05 F150 extended cab 6.5' bed and after adding about 100 tq by using comp cams spr and porting the heads, ect. and the transmission did not last long and it burns through spark plugs (it isnt running lean). Even though the engine can run higher now, the cooling system hates it, hoses keep failing. 0-60 @ 5.2 sec

    @LordSamuelJ Yes, we do actually. The SHO and G8 are ours

    @miguelsanchss nah the 6.0 in the GT is the L76 from the GM trucks like the Avalanche and the Suburban. Needs the torque for the G8's 4,000 lbs. 361hp, 385ft. tq

    @LivernoisMotorsports So how much power does a SHO need to put down to keep up like that?

    Micheal Williams right because the 15K in performance parts for the mustang helped it out.

    @rmiles01 Right you are. The LS7 might have fewer valves, but the valves are big and GM did their fluid dynamics homework. I'm sure the Ford flows just as well, maybe more, but GM chose much bigger displacement and bigger ports, so it's going to flow more.
    Not trying to piss on the Ford motor, but it's hard to get that much power from 5 liters, NA. It would have to rev to 7800 (with a valvetrain made of unicorn horns) to make 500 whp.

    For one the 5.0 has done a 12.7 in the 1/4 and with a tune and slicks has gone into the upper 11s. Also are you calling 13 slow?

    the G8 is da bomb and when i was in Bahrain and saw the Chevy Caprice (that's what it was there even before Pontiac picked it up from the Australian Holden) I said a prayer each time i saw it hoping it would come to the states. Well it did and Pontiac died but my thoughts were that it would make a hot ass Impala but I'm good with a cooler name - JUST BRING BACK THIS AWESOME RIDE!!!! Other than that those two Fords would look good paired up in any American driveway. Ford is doing big things.

    I have a 96 ford thunderbird v6 with an Msd Coil, muffler delete, and oversized bearings for the crank, new rods and polished pistons. How does the tuning process work? And i assume its a Dyno tune

    • @LivernoisMotorsports
      @LivernoisMotorsports  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +George Farah Indeed it would be a dyno tune for this, we would not have a remote tuning option to cover that vehicle.

    • @GeorgeFarahGNR
      @GeorgeFarahGNR 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Livernois Motorsports well the equivalent vehicle would be a mustang, would there be anything custom

    • @LivernoisMotorsports
      @LivernoisMotorsports  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +George Farah Well, similar, but not necessarily equivalent. there are unique aspects of both vehicles and their corresponding calibrations. With that being said, we would only be able to do it in house, not remotely.
