We've been oppressed for too long! Far longer than the Scots and Irish. We were the first victims of English colonialism and yet we are too brainwashed to see independence as a viable option, probably too many English people in Wales at the moment for it to happen. Don't get me wrong now is not the right time, but in 5 or 10 years time I think we could pull it off. Cymru am byth

True! Only 1.9million in Wales are Welsh born. Out of 3.1million. So almost half the population is a foreigner, and whats even worse most of those foreigners are English. No wonder we see polls such as only 15 to 20% want independence. Who exactly are they asking?! Anyway, as long as Welsh is still being spoken and the name Cymru exists we will have won...as it irks them to this day that they couldn't finish the job. /|\

@@tomosprice8136 Agree, if you have Welsh ancestry you are more Welsh than someone who was born in Wales with no ancestral connection to the country. Those who founded the place. That's why I don't mind English born players playing for Wales. (Rugby or Football) As long as they a Welsh connection through ancestry.

I’ve always wanted Wales to be independent but I never knew of it would work this video does debunk all those myths. It’s insane why some of our resources does go to england yet west wales is very poor. This is not right it’s time for an independent Cymru but I know lots of small minded people aren’t going to like the idea either for reasons they have and I feel most people in Wales really just can’t be bothered this is the problem. With these debunked myths I feel as if Cymru would shine as an independent nation. And as Ireland are earning good money it’s because THEY control where it goes. If you look at the countries mentioned in the video, many were part of a bigger country before they left. In the cases of former Yugoslavia, the combined GDP of the new nations is a shred of what it once was. The wars that followed Yugoslavian seperation were some of the worst ever seen. If the UK broke apart you would be condeming the island to a conflict like the troubles on steroids. England isn't going to buy your water or electricity. In Estonia, Ireland, Latvia and former Yugoslavia, the results were borderline ethnic cleansing.

Some years ago I was visiting Wales and picked up a local paper near Cardigan. A letter to the editor proposed that if Wales became independent that there would be religious animosity and fighting similar to Ireland. Typical of conservatives who based their logic on fear, hate and ignorance. There is no religious conflict in Wales. Why wouldn't separation be like that of Slovakia? A LibDem rep at a town hall meeting I attended in Llangefni said that it would be illegal internationally for Wales to become independent. Did he mean like the Baltic Republics, Slovenia, other former Soviet republics?

@Welsh Independance Supporter But it is the Welsh government that wrecked our hospital in the 6th largest area of population in Wales. My A&E is now 25 miles away instead of 2 and we fought the rotten Welsh government for 10 years to try to change their minds. It was helped by Plaid that passed every budget that caused our downfall. It was passed when Helen Mary Jones was an AM for Llanelli she had the passing vote. She had said over my dead body but the party. I believe put pressure on her because Carmarthen is Plaid's little baby. much more to say about that. Mark Drakeford who advised the Welsh Assembly from the beginning and I believe the Welsh Office before was born and bred in Carmarthen and became health minister. Prince Phillip Hospital was the first to be downgraded in Wales. Llanelli was self governing but we are now ruled from Carmarthen by Plaid and independents. While being 50% of the population of Carmarthenshire the 3rd largest county in Wales we only have 33% of the vote. Llanelli is a Labour area. Llanelli's industry and population pays for so much across Carmarthenshire. I say get rid of the Welsh Assembly and I hope we do.

@Florentine 193 Name one historical benefit the Welsh have had under the UK?! (London's Leadership) name one and I'll agree with you. How many major projects in Wales have been cancelled in the last 5 years?! Due to the UK government!
The lagoon wasn't built for one reason and one reason only....Wales isn't allowed to be self sufficient and that would have went a long way towards it.
How about the Grand Prix of Wales?! A newer modern race course that no doubt would of taken over from Silverstone on the F1 circuit.
The list is quite large and you know the one thing they all have in common?! Approval from the UK Government.
Btw, the votes are biased and I have already stated the reason for it. 1.2 Million people in Wales are foreign born, with vast majority being English born. So it's not shocking to see such figures.

Why would anyone think an Independent Wales would be a good idea? Wales voted to leave the European Union. So what benefit would Wales have? It won't rejoin the EU. And will have to deal with the border issues that come from being independent with England.... I'm all for the Union and I live in West Wales. Groups like these want independence at any cost. Just for the sake of hating the English. If we are going to leave the EU. (Which Welsh voted voted for,) then we need to stick together

Education, health, police, pensions, housing, infrastructure, loss of English based business's etc, and possibly a hard border between us and England. Financial services ,what currency would we use? Please don't tell me we will try and join the EU to bail us out. I want a strong Wales within the UK, the Welsh Assembly is not the answer.

it is no wonder, with brexit and the chaos -farce in westminster, that independence in scotland-wales and irish unification* are all being discussed, even the unionists, must concede.....
that powers and privilges are centred in and around westminster,whitehall....
the city and coporation of london, unwritten traditions, the lack of transparency are disturbing, even a bannana republic seems more functional, than westminster.....
UK as centralised state, is not working or even ecomically viable, without radical changes, protests, marches, civil unrest, anger and fustration, high unemployment, lack of investment, in some of the already poorest regions for decades*...
scotland, northern ireland and gibraltar voted to remain in EU, england and wales voted too leave EU*, of course others say this was a UK wide referendum....and the vote should be respected* 17million for leave, and the 16million who voted too remain*....
so political divisions have already arisen, just over brexit*, also in the unwritten consitution of the UK westminster system*, devolution could be cancelled at anytime* with the powers returned too a dysfunctional and chaotic westminster*.....no that is no joke, its a westminster law*
the UK union jack* has no representation for wales-cornwall* cornish people whatsoever, being that these are orginal nations, at the very least they should be included, the same way that the royal flag....depicts the kingdom of scotland-ireland & england, but nothing welsh, let alone cornish*....
same goes with a UK & royal anthem* that is considered english, even mentioning ,historic anti scottish lyrics..... surely the UK and england should have seperate anthems...
and all national saints being observed holidays*..
the shameful situation, that many irish americans, and candians have recently talked about is that northern ireland* has no functioning government and that a northern irish party is in agreement with the tories,
surely this is at the very least ,is in total disregard for all religious-national & political comunities in northern ireland, not that anyone really cares,as northern ireland is at best neglected, and ignored...,being considered too poor and too small..... but even there, northern ireland has its own legal system, local issue currency and instiutions, that wales does not have....
please read adam price: wales* first and last colony of england....

@@Daniel-jy9so sorry, im confused by your reply. Labour did win in 97 and 2001, but both of those wins were with Scottish support. Since 2007 (i think) Scotland have been voting SNP, current predictions still show a majority support for SNP in Scotland. If you add up all the constituency seats for the UK, then minus all the scottish and NI seats, also take off the 8 seats that Wales are about to have taken off us in the upcoming jerrymandering, you will see its mathmatically impossible for labour to win in a general election. Labour is dead everwhere except south Wales. A labour Senedd is no good without labour in Westminster. It's sad, but true. The only way out of this mess is by voting plaid.
