I like how you gave its attack some respect and stop firing at 6:13 in order to counter its laser barrage. Sometimes extreme defense is the key to this game. Took me years to figure that out. 👍
Never knew the Tetran Core would take that squid formation and new attack pattern. They really added a bunch of new stuff to catch Gradius veterans off guard.

I think you mean Shinya. He is very skilled at using direction type while finding the safest fast kills. I've tried the total opposite which is facing them head-on while giving them chances to attack which is suicidal 😝 Thanks for your observation 👍

If you're experienced enough you can dodge any kind of attack around the ship as long as you're away from the center. This applies to almost all modern shmups. It can appear like the attacks are passing through the ship, but in actuality, the edges of the ship are not counted as a potential hit zone unless you're using force field. If you have the game - try it by yourself then you'll understand on how to deal with the Hitbox feature.

Thanks X) It's all from a hard practice from Gradius Gaiden on PSP using save & load ability with Konami code - trying to clear loop by loop until i've managed to reach loop 8 then i started to try on clearing the stages with no mess on loop 8 Hardest which also helped me to improve in Gradius V if my memory serves me right on the order between the 2 games X)
@LuisParson true for the fourth option , but you can still beat it with 3 options & force field since there is enough time ^_^ about that glitch it could be a meant glitch by game makers for faster killing without bullet shattering in every blow ^_^
You are pretty good at this Aliultimate009 ^_^. Doing all those suicide moves XD. For me I have 3 hardest bosses that i've ever faced on all gradius series and 2 of them are also yours. Big Core Rev. 1.2 is my 3rd hardest x.x. Blaster Cannon Core is my 2nd most hardest x_x. And the Keeper's Core is my most hardest boss ever to fight X_X. And loop 10 Hard/Very Hard are equally the worst as Hard from Big Core's barriers, 23 suicide bullets, and very hard 24 of them X).

Easy :) There is something called hitbox which is at the very centre of the ship. That area is the hit zone, so if you manage to evade the attacks by leaving them away from the very center of your ship - you'll manage to evade it, and to the watchers it'll appear like the attacks are passing through your ship while in fact it is passing over your hitbox 😊 Keep practicing that in stage select mode for hours then you'll attain enough knowledge to become experienced enough to deal with it 👍

Eric Xia They also make easy games, but the point of a high difficulty is for more challenge for those who wish for a more difficult Gameplay so that people can still play the game for that reason :) Remember that it's possible on many games to choose the difficulty ... and it's up to you on which difficulty you choose :) in this game if you choose Very Easy on loop 1 - it's possible for the most to beat it & vise versa on Very Hard :)

I'm glad you show that Bosses can do more if you give them the chance. You did this way before me. I'm still trying. For now I think you're the only one that has done that. (I wish you had ThunderForce VI to do the same thing.) But I didn't know you can still destroy the Bosses core when it starts to escape. That counted as well because your score went up by 10,000 points. You just don't see the cool exploding sequence though but that was interesting.
Why does this game have an ESRB rating of T? There's no living creatures that are shown being harmed. It's no more violent than Gradius 3 on the SNES, which I'm pretty sure was rated E. Only difference is this has better quality graphics than the older games in the series.
Pardon my rant which is unrelated to your question 🤣 Why do i always see people ALWAYS compare Gradius 3 SNES or talking almost ALWAYS about Gradius 3 SNES like it is the pinnacle of how a Gradius game should be when in fact the reason it is beloved - because it is the easiest with OP weaponry. Ok back to word - about your question - it is because there is ( Damn ) word being used at the end of the game which that by itself shifts the age rating to Teen.
I say for Nintendo and Xbox as well as they really need to bring these games to more than just one system... It has always been Nintendo or Playstation, not both sadly.
Original PS2. I did also live gameplays before. This video was 12 years ago. If this was TAS you'll notice inhuman reactions from this gameplay, but you can notice that i made mistakes with the force field. There is a common feature in Shmups known as hitbox - hitbox is the epic center of the ship where it can take damage. I used that to my advantage to evade very close attacks to the hitbox which makes you see the attacks passing through the ship from the edges rather than the center.
aliultimate009 Oh yea I began to realize what you were doing when I watched the other bosses! ;) Hax lazers are just what I call that laser type because they are so powerful (since can clear entire screen and when concentrated attack power is incredible and only because really of the analog on ps2 not available in the early versions)
I forgot to ask, shouldn't Big Core Revision 1.2 be your 3rd hardest boss ever fought on all Gradius series or at least have a 3rd hardest boss ever fought on all gradius series? I know how hard Big Core Rev. 1.2 is on loop 10 normal or harder, and his battle is childish on very easy loop 1 and why don't you do a remake of stage 1 loop 10 (very hard) like you said on gamestone you'd make a remake of it :).

how is it that on the boss fight for Tetran you can hit the Core before the barrier is broken but I can't. Sadly I can't enjoy the game to its fullest since I can't get fullspeed at all times on PCSX2 If my graphics card was better it would push it up alittle but sometimes I get 80% but mostly 70% the Cell stage I actually got 100% the first boss rush was 60% to 50%. I like this game but the hitbox is something to get used to since its soo small.

@@AzzRushman Actually it doesn't have newgame+. It allows you to play again each time you reach the end but with a higher loop. So you need a continuous 10 full runs ( finishing it 10 times in about 14 hours to unlock loop 10 ) which actually destroyed my back 😭, i felt numbness for one week!

Nope - it was withdrawing but i've destroyed it's core at the moment of it's withdrawal :)
I never played the Arcade version, although I've seen insane videos of it. I was referring to the SNES version, nearly beat it on hard mode.

また、MSX でグラディウスをプレイし始めたのは 6 歳くらいのときで、グラディウス外伝のようにエンドレスに繰り返しプレイして、これにたどり着きました。

@aliultimate009 Just another version of the same basic design. Not to disparage your skills (many a "holy #$%^!" moment was had watching these), but it's one of the few bosses that seems to have gotten weaker from one game to the next.
Loop 10 is more horrible in Very Hard......... and what's even worse, you can NOT use the Konami Code!

Here is another question - if you're a shmup player - ever heard of something called a *Hitbox* ?
It is available in many other shmups.
If it was cheated - i wouldn't even need to use force field or even need to evade the bullets 😅

I believe you've never heard of a feature called hitbox.
Hitbox is the area in the very center of the ship where the attacks can damage it.
If you're experienced enough you can dodge any kind of attack around the ship as long as you're away from the center.
This applies to almost all modern shmups.
It can appear like the attacks are passing through the ship, but in actuality, the edges of the ship are not counted as a potential hit zone unless you're using force field.
If you have the game - try it by yourself then you'll understand on how to deal with the Hitbox feature.
