- Finally my dream came true on clearing this stage with only machine gun by using vic viper 😁
I wonder if this is the best thing that the pro player can do against them because this might be the hardest challenge ever in this stage ...
But to be honest i've found out just a few hours ago before making this video ( modestly ) that i'm confident to do better than this if i was told on clearing this stage by giving even more chances for the bosses to attack me until they blow themselves 😆

Why hasn’t there been a Gradius Anniversary Collection? Goddamn it Konami and M2, give Gradius the same treatment that Castlevania and Contra got!
There is, but only for psp as a downloadable only.
Actually there is a physical copy UMD for the PSP console.
It is called:

God bless Konami for making games like this. The music for the first three bosses was awesome.

Anyone noticed how the Death Units here have their attack patterns reversed?
Normally, Death shoots missiles with its hatch intact and fires a high-intensity beam once said hatch is destroyed. Here, it seems to be the opposite.
Gradius will always have a place in my heart for the best bosses, especially Gaiden... of course, a third dimension would make them so easy...

Yeah, the Gradius team knows how to make a great game. Great music, smooth controls, the cannon-fodder enemies are just that, the bosses are slightly insane, and they've perfected walking that fine edge between challenging and so frustrating that your console takes flying lessons.
Especially III. Ugh, I can't get past that crystal block stage. Those blocks that aim for you are just nasty.
There is a trick for the blocks: just bait some of the first blocks near to a corner (not in the corner itself) and build yourself a "wall". All the blocks are coming from the same place and they all will throw themselves to that wall of yours as you keep yourself, still and calm for a pair of minutes. You could go to the restroom while you're at it XD

@@JeshuaMorbus that is in fact what I ended up doing! Though the first time I tried it I built it too close to myself and slammed right into it when the stage started scrolling again. Oops
Deltatry should've been in more Gradius games besides Gaiden. Especially with this music!
@Wilson Nascimento Imagine if he threw his discs like a juggler and you had to dodge each throw?
I have just got this game myself a few days ago and finally worked my way up to the boss rush, but kept getting stuck at triple core when they trapped you in the triangle and stuff goes flying everywhere. I watched the way you kind of hang around near one of the edges and that finally got me through that one! So thanks! :D

This may be super duper late but I just realized you beat the Triple Core in the order they showed up originally.
I don't think that i've even focused on that in this gameplay before X)
MY favorite boss in the game is probably Deltatry.
It's just so badass in so many ways.
1- it LOOKS bad ass.
2- Fire dragons WIN
3- LASER OF DEATH.
4- Awesomest death in the game.
5- the Music FLOWS WITH THE BATTLE. Especially the LASER attack.
Just wish it wasn't so easy ;_;
come to think of it, Bacterian sure can't invade any world...
He can't even fight a single fighter ship with his whole battalion!
INCREDIBLE. Instant Respect for you. I've never played this Gradius game but I guarantee you I would have crapped myself, died many horrible deaths and then performed an epic rage-quit trying to do what you've done here... Then because Gradius is so addictive I'd do it all again a few hours later XD
The 3rd and last bosses looked like something that would have pwned me all up and down this game ._.
Fun fact: Delta Tri, like some other Gradius bosses made an appearance in Yu-Gi-Oh as a monster but I think a lot of you knew that already..
I personally think they could expand on the archetype they have in Yu-Gi-Oh based on these starships.

well this battle was done after i grabbed this game for nearly 2 years before this run of super hard practice on clearing hardest stages on loop 8 of frustration before doing this run ^^
there is an older run of this boss rush but was done with different ship & only 1 weapon & force field
I've never played Gaiden specifically but I have played enough Gradius to know that this must have been increadably hard. Good job, man, under rated video.

Ali, you make me want to play Gradius Gaiden even more seeing this run. Stellar run. I'm going to try my hand at this kind of run when I get better at Gradius Gaiden, but to make things even more interesting, try with ZERO Speed-Ups.
10:48 - That was me over the weekend when I reached the Final Stage of Gradius for the Konami Bubble System while recording my very first no-death run in that game(before you ask, no, I did not use an original Gradius Bubble System cabinet, as I don't have one)

Gradius has some of the coolest bosses ever. Half the time I would try to get through the level alive just to see them.

I have a question, @aliultimate009. Since there is no arcade equivalent of "Gradius Gaiden" (Only Sony PlayStation Portable edition as part of "Gradius Collection" on Universal Media Disc (UMD) and Sony PlayStation 1 edition), how did you make message "FREE PLAY" appear during game play instead of "CREDITS x" (Where x is a number ranging from 0 to 9)?
I've watched this many times but still hard to believe you could do this without dying. Takes alot of patience and coordination with so much going on at once on screen. I'm sure it took alot of trial error to learn to the attack patterns of the bosses.

@aliultimate009 Because that entire boss is a callback to an older Konami top-down shooter called Trigon. The Delta Tri's megabeam is also one of the bomb types you could use in Trigon.

Hmm, one thing that bugs me-
The dragons Deltatry summons are NOT Intruders. They are called Trigons.

in PSX you should also get free play if you played certain hours ( like 18 maybe ) if not that you should clear the game multiple times ( if that should be also counted with the hours that you must play )
and for stage -Fate- there should be the same check points i've seen in PSP Gradius Collection :)
the first check point is ( i think there is one before you start the stage directly infront of the small enemies cannons ) at the end of the last half of the speed zone before Boost Core :)

Nah ... anybody can do this if they were willing & persistent enough to put their achieved skills into the test after a long hard practice.
It took me about 1 year of revision on the game mechanics & AI - with physical & mental training to have the necessary speed of reflexes & reactions to turn the situation to my favor when battling those bosses.
I also used to be a very casual player in my early days of playing the Gradius series until i saw those insane gameplays here on youtube which motivated me to work hard on improving my skills by focusing closely on the pros gameplays then using save & load feature in later releases of the Gradius series titles which heavily helped on improving my tactics & strategies.

I knew that X). That's how loops are, they're really difficult XD. And now have you check out Otomedius Dark Force, and Clyde in the Caldera of Pac-Man world 2? He is a fearsome Boss, very brutal T_T.
Man that's some intense Boss music. In fact, its the most intense battle music in a Shmup since...Raiden.

I have a question to ask Aliultimate (or Zero like you said in your channel "you can call me Zero ^_^") is loop 8 Hardest hard enough? You know like even on loop 9 or higher they're all the same difficulty =I?
So the arcade version had the Super-semi-invincible fire rocks? The ones that split into three others that also split into three others when shot but the last three were invincible barriers that went through shields etc.?

as i remember i did it in very hard every loop by saving the game every farther i go until i hit loop 8 on very hard then i noticed stage select & free play mode unlocked O-o

If you're into a fair game in difficulty ( even on hardest ) then i advice you to try this masterpiece ^^
@kuunami to me if it's for arcade versions ( which is totally unfair ) like Salamander 2 is hard as heck even in easiest mode X)
I mean in Gradius 3 and 5. Death Double shoots laser first in Gaiden then missiles. In Gradius 3 and 5 Death shoots missiles first, then after you damage the front it shoots a big laser.
Is that the remake for PSP? If so, the yes. It took me weeks to get through the blasted fire level, and I realizedd it was the only game that I've seen where lag is your friend.

funny how most of the Deaths in the gradius series start out shooting missiles, and after you damage them it goes to big freaking scary laser.

u went in fighting naked!? i must say i'm impressed. i manage 2 play Gradius Gaiden on a PSX emulator and i liked it. in this stage the boss i hate d most is d Triple Core, that teamwork of ders is annoying.
in PSP i've tried to beat the game from loop 1 to higher loops one by one until i reached loop 8 using save data & that really helped me to improve my experience in this game :)
That Neo Big Core ended up being my favorite Big Cores and bosses in this game. I really love the sound of its bombs exploding!
By the way, how do you unlock Free Play?
Simple - just keep playing & saving every time you finish your gameplay to let your playing time be registered in the data to gain extra credits until you reach free play.
Also to unlock higher loops you need to finish a single loop then after starting the next loop just finish the first stage on the next loop then save the game to make sure to unlock stage select mode.
Oh, that's very interesting. How do you save the game? I forgot how to do it because the PSP that has the game (Gradius Collection) went missing, sadly.

There is a save & load selection in the menu or called memory card or data.

Make sure to save the game every time you finish the gameplay & just in case - do it manually in the option menu 👍
The option menu is available in-game at the main menu screen 👍
You need to collect time of your gameplay about total of maybe over 17 hours for free play mode, but i don't mean 17 hours straight - no - i mean like play at least 1 hour a day then save the game until you reach 17 hours.
i also thought almost the same about the deltatry's name ( delta tri ) XD

In this video - at it's time - i've practiced this game for 1 year playing on very hard difficulty loop by loop until loop 8 - then i started to try this boss rush with Falchion Beta with gravity bullet & maybe Limit Force Field, then i started on trying this stage with only machine gun & speed ups after clearing all of the previous 7 stages on hardest difficulty X)
It made my hair turn white ( exaggeration ) in order to achieve this X)
aliultimate009 A lot of Hong Kong players like me use force field instead of using limit because they never knows who to set their gauge.XD 😂

@aliultimate009 Hmm... Well, they get ALL the other names right-
Crystal Core, Big Core, Big Core MKII... Etc Etc. The only incorrect error they made was minor- in Deltatry's card it is called Delta Tri.
@aliultimate009 He has some pretty easy to dodge attacks (Except the dragons, but they can just be destroyed) and overall, has some pretty low barrier and core health. Especially with Falchion Beta.

Vic Viper from Gradius II is similar to Gradius I.
Gradius IV got a longer front arms if i named it correctly X)
For Gradius Gaiden i think they re-used the same sprite or model in Gradius Rebirth :)

never played this version but it looks extremely hard.
The difficulty is doubled by the loop.
This was played at maximum loop & difficulty.
