Autorickshaws emit more pollutants than a car. According to a research real-word auto-rickshaws consume 15% more fuel and emit 49% more THC and 16% more PM2.5. Indian's are very stingey. Even economically capable people will use a more unsustainable jugad than a sustainable technology just to save money. They can compromise anything for money. I'm giving you an example, people save electricity not because they care about the environment, but they save electricity because they want to save money, that's why nobody cares about outside hence it is not his direct economic loss.
Tata Nano(CNG/Electric) type cars could easily replace autorickshaws,,,, states should start encouraging auto drivers to shift to such mini cabs.. in this way they can increase their earnings too.....

Whereas auto rikshaws don't need a driving licence which makes it easier for them, in small areas for last mile connectivity auto rikshaws are more agile to maneuver whereas Nano is a 4 wheeler. Same here I’m in Canada we have G1 which is written test, then year later G2 you drive on road and they make you do all that and more, and then G which is highway and same as G2 test. India really needs an extremely strict driving test system. So not just Indians drive properly but people from other countries can drive there too without having to worry about crashing.
It is unfortunate that over the past 2-3 decades, Autorickshaws manufacturers have not invested in improving the safety, comfort and quality of vehicles...due to monopoly of companies like Bajaj. It's time to shift to fuel efficient cars like Maruti Alto for the comfort they would offer and also relative safety of four wheels wrt an autorickshaw.
That's totally wrong. Autos went from driver's under seat mounted 2 stroke engines to rear mounted engines. Then it moved to 4 stroke engines. Diesel and CNG models were introduced later along with self starter. Overall quality and reliability was also improved. Bajaj also introduced a 4 wheeled option, the Bajaj Qute but due to regulation issues and low market adoption it failed.
In eastern India cycle rickshaws are rapidly getting replaced by e-rickshaws. In my hometown in bengal there were more than 500 cycle rickshaws but now it's less than 50. Most of them will also dump them in next 5-6 years. E-rickshaws are more fast, safe, cheap and environment friendly. Western states should also do the same

The creators of this video completely forgot about bullock carts and their centuries old existence in India. Bullock carts have hugely influenced transport in India. Bullock driven cards to horse driven carts then motor driven. That was the evolution into Autorickshaws. Japanese influence was not that prevalent as shown.
I am not sure what you are trying to say. Creator of video clearly said 1st autorixkshaw in india made in collaboration with bajaj and mazda. Bullcart were prevelant but horse cart were not. Horse couldn't survive in indian climate until 17 th century and after that they were premium compared to bullocks.

you missed the key point here. Why are Autos so popular in highly dense areas of south east asia? Autos have 3 wheels, it is easy to maneuver in dense areas, where streets are full of people, it offers better maneuverablity than 4 wheelers, fuel consumption is also small, hence lifetime cost of Autos is better than a four wheeler, this it finds better acceptance in this region. However due to rise in fuel prices, such vehicles are now changing into Toto, auto which are battery operated autos used in eastern India
