    Although I have no use for this content, I can tell you do a really good job explaining what your doing. I’m sure this will be of great use to someone else that has the same issue.

    Great job!! That does look like it takes a lot of patience. It was interesting to watch and will be helpful information for people who have the same issue. I know I always use TH-cam as my go to when I need help with something especially since I’m a visual learner. 👀

    Great video! It seems that this happens a lot to this model of headsets, now I learned how to fix them, thanks! Greetings from México!

    SUPERB explanation, thank you! I'm hugely grateful for creators like you who take the time to thoroughly explain these repairs. I particularly love that you showed a wiring diagram instead of just relying on a verbal explanation with shakycam.
    Do you (or anyone else) happen to know if the headset will continue working as pure headphones if I cut & tape the mic wires, or desolder them, instead of replacing the mic? Or will that prevent the headset from working at all?

    • @EricMarsi
      @EricMarsi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That will allow the headset to continue working as headphones only. GREATLY Appreciate the compliment!

    Nice vid. ❤ -- My wife and I voted for RIG as the 500s and above have replaceable parts and the most comfortable we've owned. We've really liked them.

    This headset has a history of that mic breaking in that same spot for many people. It's a design defect. I never once used the mic. Microsoft doesn't seem to care. I had to use epoxy to fix mine. But now the speaker part broke because they don't use metal like they should.

    I broke mine doing this bc of the wires. I just needed to fix the power button. the explanation of the video was great though. Just wish had the tools to remove the wires and putting them back without damaging them

    Nice video. Unfortunately for me what happened is that the cover at the end of the microphone was opened and some cables got disconnected.

    Hello Eric! Great tutorial - I found you because my friend gave me a headset where he was trying to service the green button and he tore off the left side headphone driver at both ends. I got it soldered back together and the left side is quiet. I've resoldered all connections and even flipped the wires on the driver side (easier to access) in case it had gone back together out of phase. Still quiet. Otherwise full functionality. Do you know where I can find a parts list / replacement driver for this unit? Any thoughts on a quiet driver? Thanks!

    I need to do this. I must have placed the headset down too hard and found the boom flopping around the next time I used it. Then again, these headsets are only $100 new, so I might just buy a new one even though I do have the skill set to attempt this repair.

  • @coleG112
    @coleG112 ปีที่แล้ว

    With your “spare parts” headset, would you be willing to do a battery replacement? For the sake is sustainability, having a replacement battery on wireless headphones is really important to me and love the way you do tear down content :)

    I had my mic break randomly never traveled with it or dropped it, to much movement in the mic will stress the screw holding it and break. Which is dumb because it’s designed to be a moving mic

    Hello, my Xbox headset has recently started to dying on me. I will charge it for a couple of hours and the I’ll try to turn them on, and when they do they immediately turn off. The only way I can use them is to keep them charging while using them. So I took the right side apart, I wasn’t careful then the speaker wires pulled from the Sauter points on the board. Now the problem I have is witch is the positive and negative wire. (Red and copper wire)? Can you help me out please.

    Is the foam padding accessible by removing the 2 screws at each cap? Somehow I have the inner part under the foam is cracked on the headband. When I extend the headset over my head it snaps apart almost protruding the foam if that makes sense. I have some professional super glue that we bond metal to metal at work. For plastic it should work really well for the time being. If I could get in there it would be great.

    • @EricMarsi
      @EricMarsi  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure on that sadly. I do have all the parts to my old headset I can sell if you're interested to replace that part completely

    • @predacon8257
      @predacon8257 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Eric Marsi I actually just tried this my self. This super glue is amazing. The headset band can be taken apart by the caps. Remove 4 screws "Phillips#0" screwdriver to at each end. Then unsnap. The outer layer which holds the sliding mechanism. The inside is a chain link style strip with the female locking tab slots. It also is bonded to the synthetic leather. So what I did was try to fill the gaps where the chain link weakest points are. Also I filled the female cutout some. Then snapped it all back together.
      The problem is that the leather will stick to the super glue so you'll probably get a crease. If you're OCD don't try this. Also pay attention to how the wire holders inside are mounted it looks directional, but why risk it. I just stretched the head set over my head. Everything is bonded once again no more cracking, and shifting out of place. Thanks for the offer but at this point I won't be able to disassemble if it decides to break at another spot. The whole head band will have to be scrapped. Then maybe if you still have the parts I'd want to. What it looks like to me. Is the first link is where they will break at each end. If the headset is stretched out too far just for a heads up.

    Question brother: So the left nob that controls the game and chat volume is stuck on chat volume. No matter if I turned to nob or not, it stays stuck on max chat volume. Is there a way to fix this by taking it apart and seeing what's up?
    P.S. I already tried resetting it and nothing.

    • @smabacon

      Im in the same boat, happened to me yesterday. You can adjust the volume using the pink up/down switch. the plastic cup has a track that moves this up and down when its turned.

    I have the same headset but my issue is with the microphone itself.
    On the outside it appears to be just fine, but when i wiggle it around, the mixer options just turn off (in the software) and i can't lower or increase the volume of the "party", none of the features of the headset work and neither the microphone, actually, it doesn't work at all, the headset fixes to a certain volume.
    Its basically like, you have a headset that you can use for basic hearing stuff, take it or leave it...
    Again, this fixes itself if you wiggle the microphone around to a certain spot... I haven't found anyone who's willing to fix it or that at least knows how to ☠️

  • @chrisbosch

    Hello. I had to switch my accounts as I don't have access to the email associated with the previous comment. I do still have that question. My volume knob broke off and I can't control the volume/can't hear anything as I think i have it turned all the way down. How do I go about fixing tis problem?
    thanks in advance

    • @chrisbosch
      @chrisbosch ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha! as I was sitting here with my headset, there is a tiny pink plastic piece that slides up and down in a groove. Don't know why I didn't try this before, but it seems to be at least controllable now.

    It's so fucking annoying how bullshit hard they make it to disassemble and repair these yourself. I need to replace the left side arm & cup shell thanks to the piss poor (and completely intentional) design with weakpoints that take almost all of the stress when wearing the headset. Thank god microsoft offer repairs for only a year & the weakpoints are designed to only last about 18 months 🥴🥴🥴
