My understanding that he had enough fever to be measurably sick, not just feeling unwell. It wasn't certain until quite late if he could make it at all, but they gave him a chair to sit on and he pulled it through. You can see it in his eyes, too. But he pulled through, and on the voice the sickness is apparently only in slightly more nasality being present. A real pro.

David has an incredible voice, no doubt. I love watching vocal coaches and similar folks analyzing the amazing things he does.
But I have to say I cringe when reactors go to listen to this performance without knowing that autotune was involved.
I know David was unhappy about it, but it still affects the overall sound and sometimes it feels like "cheating" if the listener isn't aware.
Once you know you can hear it, but you can also hear the raw talent behind it.

I love Disturbed, David Draiman, and this particular cover. Just incredible. But I’m curious if you’ve stumbled across a TH-camr named Dan Vasc. He is a Brazilian metal singer who performs everything from metal to rock to 80’s hair band to folk to musicals to opera. He is by far my favorite TH-camr. He just recently hit 1Million subs. I’m a metal head at heart but have a huge appreciation for classical music. If not for a reaction, please at least check out his covers on his channel; he has well over 200 covers. Personally my favorite of his are: Nessun Dorma by Puccini; Gethsemane from Jesus Christ Superstar; and Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera. He does have his own metal band called Fearless. He was approached by a record company to sign him but after reading the contracts he refused as he didn’t want to be handcuffed by their terms and/or feel like an employee. He rather enjoys being independent. Hail VascNation ❤

If you know that he had a lision on his vocal cord and had 50 mg Prednison to get the swelling down and that there was a specialist on call in case something went wrong. He said that in his conversation with the Charismatic Voice. He is also explaining the way he used his voice.

Since it has been a little while between both versions, I really couldn't tell much difference. However, the piano and strings were nice complements to the song. The original song to me was much lighter in context, while Disturbed's version is on the darker side. Either way, it was well sung and I also didn't see any effects of him possibly being ill.

The emotion of this version is insane, especially considering how ill he really was. Hint: he NEVER performs sitting.

Simon & Garfunkel's version of this song was a plea to unplug from technology, at that time TV. This version is pissed off people didn't listen to the message. Look where we are now. Nothing but technology and no compassion or empathy for our brothers and sisters in this world.
