A K5 gsxr 750 made me fall in love with sports bikes again, 2 weeks later I bought a new gsxr k7 1000, they still one of the best bikes I've ever ridden to this day
I thoroughly miss my K7 750 and plan to own another one in the near future. Such a great machine. Perfect blend of power and reliability, combined with functionality and looks.
Got a k7 750 honestly one of the best bikes I’ve owned. Nothing comes close to the rawness of these things. Yes you can find more refined bikes out there. But these have something special to them.
Your long term owners review in 2011 was one of the reasons I brought this bike two years ago (2015 model). I am 56 years old and was concerned that it would be uncomfortable on the wrists and backside. I ride the GSXR, normally for 4 hours at a time, normally with a lunch break in between. I just love it. The sound the handling the predictability compared to other bikes I have owned and ridden. I can see why, even back then, you seemed dissappointed to give your long term loaner back...so thank you Neevsey-as always. love you content time and candor in your reviews.
That's great to hear, I am 20 years younger and have the naked GSX-S 750 as I thought it will be more comfy over the R, but I still hear to calling of the supersport in the back of my head...
@@KapitanPisoar1 The first ride I had on the GSXR was a three hour ride back from where I brought the machine. The best bike you will own is the one you will ride. If you love the naked stick with that or take and R for a ride and see what you think. Safe riding.
@@husseyfamily509 Thanks for the info. I do love my naked and only have it for a year and done 12000km on it. It’s just so weird that this 750 class disappeared… I’ve had many bikes & my gsxr750 was easily one of the best. Literally the perfect balance with near 600 size & weight but that extra 750 oomph.
We still have it in Canada. Great bike. If the license plates for sport bikes here were not so crazy expensive, would have one in a minute. Even the 600cc is great.
I haven't owned a 750 (though I plan to one day). I've owned an original slabside 11, and a couple of 1000s (one of which I still own, with 60k miles). But from the great stuff I hear about the 600s, there's no need to say 'even'. They sound superb.
Great look back at a true icon, the gsxr750 started the 4 stroke race rep era and turned into an absolute gem 👍🏻 We thought the way to more enjoyment was more power, but it becomes self defeating and sometimes the bike is taking you for a ride ! Never give up Neevesy, you've turned into the 00s 750 yourself 🍻
Had a blue and white GSXR 750K4. I loved that bike, which I kept for nearly 5 years. The motor made great torque and had that beautiful induction note that GSXR'S of that era made. An absolutely brilliant bike that kept some bigger bikes honest too 😁
Great video. I have a GSXR 1000 K7, my personal bike and it is the best motorcycle I have ever ridden and I get excited each and every time I go out on it. I love the look, feel and spirit of the GSXR range. Simply amazing bikes.
I test rode a K4 GSX-R750 2 years ago only 6 months after I passed my test, it was breathtaking, I couldn't believe how connected I felt to the bike. I didn't buy it as I know I would either lose my licence or my life. I still regret that decision!
Hey Neevesy, highly enjoyable video! As a fellow GSXR750 fan, currently on my 4th, L1 (great bike) I could happily listen to you talking about these amazing bikes all day!
Happy to see you got your bike that took you so many places. Can’t wait to see more once it’s done. I too bought my favorite bike a 2002 SP2 no aid or electronics just pure joy and happiness. Cheers from sunny California!

Having owned a GSX-R750 and a GSX-R1000, I totally agree that the 750 was a better all-round bike. I'm not saying the big gixxer wasn't a good bike (it definitely was!) , but I definitely enjoyed the 750 more.

Restrictions on bikes were well under way well before this bike, the Y2k ZX9r had two cats in the back box and link pipe, making the titanium exhaust very heavy, I have the original exhaust in my bedroom. Removing that probably made it lighter than this overall (for the E1+ models), but still due to design and a full 19l fuel tank, they are top heavy which is very noticable when manual handling the bike, proper underrated beast 😎
I'm recently back into biking after a long lay off and currently ride a Triumph Tiger 1200 Gt Pro as my age and body couldn't cope with a sports bike but it's great to hear you reminiscing. I've always loved race reps and racing (Cadwell Park season ticket holder) and love the easy way you explain everything for us mere mortals and fan boys. Keep up the great work sir.
After a long GSXR750 hiatus, owned an ‘86 during college, I bought a ‘23 last year after watching your L1 long-termer video. Considered several modern options, but I kept coming back to your video… watched over and over… and it pulled at my heartstrings every time. It is the best all-around sport bike.
Back in 21 I was looking to buy a Street triple RS when I saw 21 M1 750 same as L1😂 it was cheaper more hp so I took for a test ride now it’s my forever bike❤. Note 21 was the last year for GSXR750/600 in NZ because of ABS laws.
As i am an old git (68) i thought my sports bike riding was over, that was till i saw an immaculate GSXR750 L5 for sale, still have it now and its my baby lol never lets me down starts first click and looks wonderful. long live this amazing motorcycle, Thanks neevsey, you bought tears to me eyes.
Me too, total Shcwantz fan boy. I always tell people about his high speed off in the wet when he held on to the clutch sliding at 160mph from first place. He kept the bike running with 3 broken fingers, got back on and finished top 3, what a man
As someone who has owned an 06 and 08. The changes made are noticeable, bike seems to have more grunt in mid and top as well as smoother everywhere. I adored that bike should have kept it
Thanks so much Mr Neeves for such an excellent review, this bring so many fond GSX750R memories back for this ex owner of 1989 oil-cooled red/white J (my first sportbike) and again in 2009 going back to Suzuki's K9. Although I'm own a R6 now, the first love will always be the Gixxer !
Completely agree. I was always in the SRAD camp, even though I went ZX7R (and again more recently). In both cases, as I got older, lack of ABS for road riding became more of a concern. Such was my love, even tried to figure out if a BOSCH system could be fitted! Although I went green, there is no argument, the GSXR750 was miles ahead in power, weight and dynamics. What a bike..
My ex missus bought a gsxr 750 k6 ..I spent more time on it than her, they really are truly an beautiful mix of excitement and usable performance. We spent money on it with a remap, racefit exhaust, full brembo discs calipers and master cylinder. It really was a great bike to ride with those mods aswell 👌
There are lots of reasons why my track bike is a K6 750. Partly because I ran across one that wasn't running and the owner (his wife, really) was sick of messing with it. But mostly it was because I had had a few 600s before it and I really liked the K6 600 as a track bike and the thought of having the same handling with more power was too exciting to pass up.
I test rode one recently. The rider position is too extreme for my old bones but the 750 is sublime. Within just a mile I fully understood all the hubbub about this bike. It is sublime. If I were to buy a sport bike it would be this. 🙌
I actually wanted to send you a message and ask you what is your all-round favourite sports bike, you gave me your answer with this video. And yes, it really is a shame that Suzuki never updated the 750 after the L1 model because this is the kind of sport bike we want and need. As you've said, a perfect blend of everything and actually usable and fun on both road and track. Cheers!!
I was impressed with all the videos I watched on the bike I bought a 2024 model in January. It took a bit getting used to the ergonomics of the bike coming from naked bikes before, however it is great to ride and going to take it on track sometime this year to get more out of the bike than I do on the street. Also the seat height is more forgiving being a shorter rider and my knees fit better into the tank.
Bought a new K8 in 2008. Had it for two years doing 35k km. Went on trackdays, Nordschleife, trips through Europe….also had a Y model which has more character, but the K8 was the best blend of doing it all easy✌️😍
I’ve just bought a 750 k1 low mileage bike absolutely love it easy to ride and still fun to be thrown around. Also ride a s1000rr but cannot stay off the 750 atm love not having the rider aids
Hi. Excellent video packed with fantastic information. When that very first race replica GSXR 750 came out in 1985, I remember seeing it screaming through a winding road, I thought - "what was that?". At the time I didn't know what it was, I went to all the local bike shops in Australia to find it, and yes I learned about the GSXR 750. Couldn't afford it because I was still a student. Later when I started working I saved up and bought a new tri colour 1995 Honda Fireblade. Now after owning 30+ bikes, and having a 2024 S1000RR and 2008 1098S (pre all electronics) in my garage that I look at every night, I still miss those 80s-mid to late 2000s pure sports bikes. And at those times being excited every 2 years to see the updates. Regards and have a great day! PS: Now wanting to add a street fighter, naked bike to the garage but man I just can't decide ... 890 Duke R, Duke GP, MT09, MT10, 765R or RS, the list goes on ... tough choice. It's easier to choose a Superbike. PSS: Previous Suzuki bikes I've owned are DR250 (my first bike) GSXR1000 K7, L1, the 2017 model (traded it on a RS660 - that was a mistake RS only lasted 6 months then moved it on - I wish I kept the Suzi).
Another great video…thanks Neevsey, been considering a gsxr 750 for a few years, only reservation is needing to sell my lovely original RRT Fireblade to make space for it 😮
Love this video. I've owned 3 GSXR600s all from new over 9 years a srad a K1 and K5. Looking back I should have gone 600 750 and 1000. After this I bought an R1 and yes I was into sports bikes when they brought out new models every other year and everyone had them. My brother had a brand new 2010 750 the same as the one you have there but in standard colours which I did get to ride. Last year he bought another mint one with hardly any miles on and is thinking of selling it now and watching this makes me want to buy it. Not a lover of the looks of the last bike though but I'm sure it's brilliant.
Mate you have an incredible way of story telling that’s just so good to listen to. Thanks for the reviews. There’s something about those naughties Gixxer’s huh!
Great video as always Michael, I did chuckle when you did a big sniff half way through saying “ it made 133bhp at the back wheel, which is not to be sniffed at” Never rode the later 750 but did get to ride the Slingshot model, very nice.
ive had 3 gsxr600 before k3 k5 and a k8 bought them all new then had a 13 year brake from road bikes got married had a kid but last year i gave in and got a 2016 30th anniversary gsxr 750 love it
Had two SRAD 750s and loved them. As you say, best all round balance and performance. Never aspired to a 1000, as I knew I would never use all of the performance and survive!
Loved mine. Killed one on track but bought another when we moved to NZ (where they were still selling them new). Swapped it for a Tuono, which to be honest was even better.
Had a gsxr 750m back in the 90s had a srad early 2000….since then had everything under the sun …was thinking of another gsxr1000 but youve talked me into one of these instead buddy👍🏻

That is a stunning bike.Must be appreciating in value now
Another great video…thanks Neevsey, been considering a gsxr 750 for a few years, only reservation is needing to sell my lovely original RRT Fireblade to make space for it 😮
Great intro and good video 😊
Great video as always Michael, I did chuckle when you did a big sniff half way through saying “ it made 133bhp at the back wheel, which is not to be sniffed at”
Never rode the later 750 but did get to ride the Slingshot model, very nice.
ive had 3 gsxr600 before k3 k5 and a k8 bought them all new then had a 13 year brake from road bikes got married had a kid but last year i gave in and got a 2016 30th anniversary gsxr 750 love it
Had a black K9 for 6 years from new. Amazing bike. wish I hadn't sold it now.
Hit the nail on the head, the best balance of power and handling.
Had two SRAD 750s and loved them. As you say, best all round balance and performance. Never aspired to a 1000, as I knew I would never use all of the performance and survive!
They're held in enormous affection, aren't they?
That's the sign.
Loved mine. Killed one on track but bought another when we moved to NZ (where they were still selling them new). Swapped it for a Tuono, which to be honest was even better.
I had a Gixer 750 in 1992 loved it red white and black loved it the best bike i ever had.😀
Had a gsxr 750m back in the 90s had a srad early 2000….since then had everything under the sun …was thinking of another gsxr1000 but youve talked me into one of these instead buddy👍🏻
