Is it me or do these guys make Slash look even better?
Talented musicians perform at their best when surrounded by similarly talented, supportive and like-minded individuals. SMK&C is better than GnR for me because the live performances are consistently incredible and they're not dependent on whether the lead singer is having a bad day. It's GnR without all the drama and bullshit. Just good music. Myles Kennedy is the best vocalist in rock today and he's also in tune with Slash and the band, knows when to work the crowd and when to step back and let Slash do his thing.

Sound quality was a lot better at Stoke though. I bought the Roxy DVD and the mix is terrible
Check out "Made in Stoke". You wouldn't believe there's anything better than this, but the Stoke performance is out of this world.

Only just stumbled across these videos and the vids from their Sydney show. IMHO, they’re the best live recordings of any of the GNR songs they played. Better than any of the Use Your Illusion tour videos. Vastly better than any of the recent GNR tour recordings-Axl can’t sing anymore. I’m sentimental about the 1988 Ritz concert because it’s a glimpse of them just out of the cradle-almost a GNR time capsule. But these are fantastic shows.
Naturally the recording quality of these recent concerts is superior but the Ritz shows in the 80s blow them away in terms of musicality, energy and authenticity. Myles is a decent ring in but he doesn’t hold a candle to prime Axel and Slash just doesn’t have the crispness with his legato runs that he once had.
All good but this just shows how awesome Axl was in his prime. His stage presence was something else and the voice unmatched.
This shows only how to use correctly and safely one's voice for a long-term career. Myles is in his fifties now and you guys have to go back to a young Axl who screwed up his voice for NOT knowing how to sing to compare him with nowadays Myles Kennedy. Maybe when Myles reaches his 80s he can sing as bad as Alx.

Myles Kennedy has a 10X's better voice than Axel, and a quite comparable voice to Scott Weiland. But undoubtable, Myles Kennedy should stick together with Salash, because they make such awesome music together!
