I prfered the Chinese democray era band. Mainly because I was able to see them when Axl still had his voice in a 6 thousand seating stadium. 2016 and onwards I've only been able to see them in stadiums seating 15x that.

His voice is so much excellent in 2006 and 2016. Not forced, not haywire. A beautiful power perfectly controlled like a master. In the 90's, his voice was powerful but messy, mostly being forced. Here Axl was like some demigod perfectly in command of every inch of his voice.

His peak was 2006 but as it approaches 2010 it was noticeable his breathing and stamina is getting worse even when he is not fat that time. When they returned in 2012 he was fat as a result of medical recovery and rest. Ever since then he got the mickey mouse voice..he recovered somewhat half of his vocal power around 2016, especially in Houston shows(god that was so great). But since 2017 he keeps on getting back and forth to okay to bad. Problem with Axl is in his age he still moves a lot on stage and he is doing 3hrs and more per show. It is not an intensity his age should be capable. Even Steven Tyler in his 60's had good voice quality but really do not do concerts that long and he doesn't move the way Axl exhaust himself on stage.
I want to say after 2010. I'm convinced that the 2010 tour permanently damaged his voice. Unlike 2006, where he had balance, he went full throttle 80s for like the entire tour.

I believe Axl's voice is still there but he doesn't use it as it can damage his vocal cords and anymore damage can be fatal to his regular talking voice. That's what i think Axl and the band said in an interview or something. and in some live performances you can hear him use the high raspy falsetto at the end of certain songs.

they don't release new material because they don't have a songwriter. Izzy wrote them songs and riffs. And rock in general is not popular now.
