Milijenko Matijevich is the singer of Steelheart. Mili almost lost his life on Halloween 1992. Slaughter asked Steelheart to open for them. It was Slaughter's last show of their tour. Mili climbed up on a 1,000 lbs lighting truss that wasn't secured properly. He tried to get of the way but it came down on him and the was the end of Steelheart. Mili had serious facial and back injuries. Years later he got asked to be Mark Wahlberg's singing voice in the movie Rock Star and he said yes. Over the years Mili and Steelheart play at all kinds of venues. Occasionally band members change but Steelheart is Mili's life and blood. I believe he has a 5.5 octave range which is almost unheard of. He still hits those notes and loves his fans. And yes, you were correct. He is from Croatia. In their hayday, Mili changed his name to Mike but after his dad died he changed it back to Milijenko. :}
Miljenko ans Steelheart are not and never were at an end...he just nneded time to recover from what really should have completely destoyed his body, but, all the tragedy just made him stronger and more determined. With the vocal prowess that he posseses, even to this day, he should be a legend!! I have never been to one of their concerts, but would go if they play anywhere near Boston!
Their song “Can’t Stop Me Lovin’” you is awesome. The singer, Miljenko Matijević, had a terrible stage accident in 1992 while touring for their second album. On Halloween night in 1992 while performing in Denver a 1,000# lighting truss fell hitting him in the back of his head smashing his face into the stage floor. He broke his nose, jaw, cheekbone, and had traumatic brain injury. It took him a couple of years or so to recover. He did a 30th Anniversary duet of “(Angel Eyes) I’ll Never Let You Go” with his daughter, SteviAnn.
I still remember buying this this Steelheart album when it first hit the record store at my local mall back in 1990...it feels like it was yesterday pulling the cassette of the shelf...Their music has been there for me with relationships throughout the years and has never failed me....I will never forget these guys...pure rock, sensuality and emotion
Steelhart is one of these great bands, that emerged in the late 80s/early 90s and never reached the success they deserved, because they were overshadowed by the grunge hype.
I love watching people hear this song for the first time. I've lived it and loved it for decades. I remember the first time I heard it. It blew my mind. So watching others see it for the first time is thrilling for me. Thanks for the vid! Now do Def Leppard Promises.
80s music, songs, prettyboy singers, and amazing vocals. It'll never come back, but 80s lives forever! Like Ratt, bulletboys, Vandenberg, whitesnake, Warrant, Kingdom Come, Triumph, Slaughter, and others! Dude is in his late 50s and can still hit the high notes! The bulletboys lead singer hits the same high notes but with gravel! Check out, Smooth up in ya! Damn shame he almost died on tour in 92, but dang 8n the movie Rockstar with Mark Whalbe4g 8n 2000, and still sings and tours and even does classical music and he's damn good as ever!
The lead singer (Michael aka Milli) wrote this as a testament to his love for his then fiance and soon after wife. there are songe you like. and love. then theres songs like this that go into your playlist . his voice is otherworldly. hide your glassware.
Moriah Formica, the lead singer of the all-girl rock band PLUSH, did a solo cover of this, and nailed every note perfectly. Even the singer for Steelheart said she impressed him.
No they dispersed in the early nineties and then they came out with a 30th year anniversary back in 2019 I believe we did some of the songs slightly different . You can even check out She's Gone live by Steelheart he hits the notes spot on live as well is from MTV Unplugged
I played drums and sang in hair bands in the 80s & early 90s but i could never do this song...I could do FIREHOUSE "Love of a life time" miss those days now at 63 in 2024
I like the way you do your reactions. You don't pause the video every 30 seconds and talk for minutes at a time. You also don't try to talk over the song. I just subscribed because you rock. Love your style.
Steelheart was noticed way too late, but they were like the swan song for all of the 80s bands; almost like a culmination of the rock bands the 80s gave to us.
Miljenko probably has the best and highest Male Vocal of all time, he still sounds great I’ve seen them live several times at an 80s Festival I go to each year, slaughter plays there and they sounded great until about two years ago, Great to see so many 80s bands out touring so many years later, great to hear that 80s metal live
@77magakill, Miljenko wasn't the only singer who provided vocals on the songs in the movie soundtrack Rockstar! Jeff Scott Soto split the vocal duties with Miljenko on the tunes also including one of the biggest songs in the movie called "Stand Up." Just saying.. ++Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend++ 🤘😜🤘
You're on point with the comparison to Slaughter, both front men have phenomenal upper range talent. They aren't the same singer though-- Mark Slaughter serving up tunes for Slaughter, and Miljenko Matijevic (Milly or Matty for short) for Steelheart. As a side note for Steelheart, they served as the band that's heard in the 2001 motion picture Rock Star, starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Aniston. It's Milly doing the singing for fictional rock group Steel Dragon in the movie.
They were one of my favorite bands from the 80s Glam scene. The van was a little underrated they definitely had a following. And they are still around to this day play I don't know how many albums they put out. But I have most of them. They did the soundtrack for the movie rockstar with Mark Wahlberg
@@dannydickerson862 You're right to a point, Miljenko did sing on a few of those soundtracks in the movie Rockstar but not all of them my friend. Jeff Scott Soto split the vocal duties with Miljenko on the music soundtrack including one of the biggest tunes in the movie "Stand Up." Just saying... 🤘😜🤘 ++Peace Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend++
Mark Slaughter was the lead of Slaughter. Have to tell you, you’re so hot, flashback to my 1980’s lol. This song hit hard! Going through a breakup right now, been avoiding this song but allowed my guard to drop to listen to it and your take. Never underestimate power ballads!!!
Great song, great reaction.I that song on my playlist. The hair bands are the best. Another hair band you’ll like is Skid Row. Maybe do “18 And Life” from Skid Row. They have many more great songs. But that would be a great song to start with.
Absolutely the most underrated vocalist of the 80’s hair bands!

Never really knew who they were until Rockstar movie. So good
The 80s will always be the best no matter what till this day
The 80s will always be here to end of time

Its 80s just look at the badass drum set gives it away!
Steelhart is one of these great bands, that emerged in the late 80s/early 90s and never reached the success they deserved, because they were overshadowed by the grunge hype.
Actually, the lead singer had a trragic accident on stage and railroaded their career for awhile.

Absolutely love this song!! Such a killer vocal…unbelievable range and emotion. Stealheart ❤️❤️❤️❤️
So many underrated vocalists in this time period. Steelheart, Skid Row, Warrant...gen x had the best music of all time.
NO AUTOTUNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miljenko Matijević was born in Zagreb and went to America with his parents as a child.
He sang the vocals for Marc Whalberg in movie Rockstar
I love watching people hear this song for the first time. I've lived it and loved it for decades. I remember the first time I heard it. It blew my mind. So watching others see it for the first time is thrilling for me. Thanks for the vid! Now do Def Leppard Promises.
If I’m not mistaken Mickey was opening for Mark Slaughter when he had the accident.
Their unplugged version of She’s Gone is incredible.
That song always gives me chills. I think it's their best. Just amazing.
All while chewing gum :)

I’ve seen her doing that, she is great.
Yes she definitely did
His voice was used in the movie Rockstar with Mark Wahlberg
He can still sing like this seen him live a few years back.
He still sounds AMAZING to this day!!!!!

Jamie you and that song have something in common. Both are very beautiful creations!
Awwwww thank you so much!!! ❤️

Him and Sebastian Bach 2 of best late 80’s early 90s voices ever 💯❤️✌️🤘🍺
Can't leave out Mark Slaughter. Those 3 are the best
Don dokken n early years was hard to beat

Thaes are the best ever bands and there's no one that will ever sound and sing like this
You look like you could be in the video you rock he's a badass keep rocking love your style
Steelheart was one of the last hair bands before grunge took over. That is main reason ppl never heard of them
Love that you have Alex Grey artwork behind you!!!
He was the person who sang the songs for the movie Rockstar with Mark Wahlberg.
Except for the Verve Pipe song

She's gone is a banger!!! Please do next
I'm so happy I lived this era, great stuff~
They r still playn and touring😊
The big three voices of the 80's were this guy, Sebastion Bach from Skid Row, and Jeff Tate from Queensryche
Watch his song, She's Gone!!!
Another incredible multi octave vocal is Always There for You by Stryper…check it out.

Sad what happened to him. Having the stage fall on him was the turning point. He was never the same after the brain injury.
i just sign on to you//you played one of my fav tunes//
Thank You so much and do you have a request my friend?
He’s probably the best vocalist ever!

Singer from slaughter is good but it has nothing on this guy
Mark Slaughter had the range, not near the power.
Sebastian Bach and Miljenko Matijevic are 2 of best vocalist ever.
Love me some Frank DiCostanzo on guitar - genius!
Miljenko's voice could power a nuclear reactor. John Fowler the drummer passed away.
The last picture you had up is the more current picture of Steelheart as it is today 😊
Steelheart did all the music for the movie ROCKSTAR Starring Mark Wahlberg and Jennifer Anniston. If you have'nt' seen it you should check it out.
Actually Miljenko did the singing that was supposed to be Mark Wahlberg with Zak Wylde on guitar, Jeff Pilson on bass and Jason Bonham on drums

This guy has the best vocals for hair metal period! Nobody tops him!
It was a different life in the 80s and 90s. Even I had my fame in that era.
