I am one of the DOZENS of people that find these topics fascinating. :)
Being able to talk intelligently about financial things but from a strong catholic theological stand point is great. These videos have helped me examine the ways in my life I have been succumbing to greed. Really appreciate it!

      I agree.
I'm re organizing a fund I have (am stuck with) into a so called "ethical" fund.
My broker is only concerned, he tells me, about "returns".
I have sympathy for him though. I think I'll pray for him too.

What exactly is the difference between your community sharing system and an insurance company? The only difference I see is in size. Every time you pay an insurance premium, it is indirectly paying out a claim to someone in need.
The Knights of Columbus started out the same way, but as the group grew they had to start organizing it more strictly. You have to require premiums so that nobody abuses the system as a free rider, and you have to charge people differently by risk class in order to maintain the payout fund without overcharging people unfairly.

Federal students loan debt dies away with the person. No worries to pass it along to ones spouse.

On suing one’s neighbor: if you are insured the contract delegates the litigation decision so that it is the insurance company which decides whether the neighbor will be sued and what settlement outcome you must accept.

On a health share, but probs won't bail on my termed life ins until the term runs out or my mortgage is paid off. I love the idea of a "debt share" where we help others pay off their student loans.

Currently we've got a couple employees on Solidarity and Marc is on Samaritan. To be clear, this is an endorsement of the idea, but not necessarily the execution.

@@NewPolityPodcast Thank you. Samaritan is one my wife and I looked into last year via Andy Mineo’s mention I think, at least we first heard the idea from him. I thought it would be good to research another one.
