  • This video is about how I replace A/C compressor on 2004 Mercedes C230 Kompressor in detail. This video also includes tips and tricks when parts are hard to remove and how to swap certain parts between new A/C compressor that was purchased from AMAZON and the old OEM compressor.

    I replaced the AC compressor on our 2003 C230K sedan back in 2014. The original compressor suffered catastrophic internal piston failure, and there wasn't much DIY information available (at the time) for this particular job. Your video is very informative, but I wanted to suggest something that may help a bit. I removed the supercharger as well, which made accessing the compressor quite a bit easier. It was just a few more bolts, so I'd say it was worth the extra step...
    In my situation, the lines and condenser were pretty contaminated with debris from the destroyed compressor. Luckily the drier screen kept any debris from reaching the evaporator and expansion valve. I flushed the system really well and installed two inline filter screens on the high- and low-pressure lines to protect the condenser and new compressor from any debris that may have remained in the system.
    Now, 9 years and 100K miles later, the replacement compressor is starting to exhibit early signs of internal bearing failure. We've had the car since 2006, and it's still in excellent condition with almost 200K miles on the odometer. It's no longer our primary vehicle, but we still drive it regularly. So, it looks like I will be replacing the AC compressor once again in the very near future. This time I'll do it BEFORE the compressor decides to self-destruct...

      too much work ,in the first world, the labour charge is worth more then the car sad to say

    • @MrBeeHS
      @MrBeeHS  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @user-pu6jv7wi5x of course! The labor for Mercedes is overrated! Just because it's a German car so they overcharging for the labor. That's why Mercedes dealerships are making tons of money.

    Nice video save bucks a lot, I have question after installed everything how to jump ac compressor in order To refill the freon

    • @MrBeeHS
      @MrBeeHS  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you 😊
      In order to jump start an A/C compressor, you must pull a vacuum first to get all of the air and moisture out from the system. Then you can charge the freon into the low pressure port (big aluminum line)
      I also have a video on that for the C230 Kompressor on how to pull a vacuum and charge freon. Please check it out.

      I hope I could have more details about removing the fuel rail for you, but my current C230 Kompressor has already been sold. I apologize for the inconvenience.

    how much would something like this cost at a shop?

    • @itsthehumor95
      @itsthehumor95 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      my a/c pulley broke and I need to replace it as well as the belt and other pulleys

    • @MrBeeHS
      @MrBeeHS  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The shop would probably charge you at least $1500. The A/C compressor alone will cost you about $700-$800 and labor at least between $500-$1,000. Depends which shops you go to. Stay away from the dealership though because they will charge you more than your car's worth.
      I was able to find an A/C compressor on Amazon for around $150, which is not bad for a cheap compressor and it worked excellently.

      The belt and the other pulleys are not going to be that expensive. You can get away with changing the A/C pulley out, if your A/C compressor is still good. A/C pulley is cheaper than the whole A/C compressor.

      @@MrBeeHS yes you were right on they got me at $1450 but that was with me having to get the compressor changed as it was no good, the idler pulley needed to go as well and the belt of course needed a new one

      Yes, you can remove it under the car as well.

      Is that easier ?

    • @MrBeeHS
      @MrBeeHS  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's probably about the same. Just be careful removing it underneath the car though, make sure to secure your car really well with jack stands and floor jacks.....safety's priority. 👍
