Very helpful video. Is it same work for a 2006 S500 4-Matic? Not sure how to tell if its a w220 or w221? Also, any recommendations for replacement compressor? New or used, where to get it? Thx.
Hi, thanks for this useful video! I am about to carry out a similar job, however, the refurbished compressor I purchased came with no lubrication oil. I found that it should be filled with about 150-180mL of PAG46 oil. Is there a preferential side (low or high-pressure side) it should be added to?
Any side should be alright. Add the oil and spine the compressor by hand back and forth few times. Thank you for watching I do appreciate your comment.
I have a 2005 c230k with the supercharged 4cylinder…are all these w203 ac compressors the same ??? I’ve found a compressor from a 2005 c240 with the 6 cylinder will it fit into my c230????
Any time you crack the system open for a repair like this, you must replace the receiver drier or desiccant bag. So don't just open and then vacuum and refill. He is missing a vital step in the process.
Sorry.let me be more clear. The wire that has to be connected to the compressor. Where does that originate from. I was going to replace the pigtail which has red/green wires. The existing wire only has 1 attached to the broken connector. Other hole on the broken connector seemed unused
@@dezcpo most of these compressors only get one wire for power and it takes ground from the body by being attached to the engine. Plz let me know if that answered your question. Thanks
Sorry to hear. Extracting broken bolts can be a pain but there’re few methods I use. If you have any part of the bolt showing you can you an turbo sockets or weld a nut on the broken end then extract. If nothing showing you will have to drill it then use extractor kit. Let me know how it goes.
@@a2zautomasters862 finally after years of hot summer I was able to take them out all took me probably 3 days 😂😂. I'm never letting someone do repairs on my car
I can honestly say that I hated changing the A/C compressor on my 2003 C320 more than any car work I have ever done. The original compressor pulley assembly decided to simply start falling off of it's shaft. Mercedes can't seem to make a good car AC system worth a shit. My other Mercedes, a 1986 W201 diesel, has gone through 1 compressor and 2 related wiring harnesses and now doesn't work (again) after all of that and several thousand $$$ in A/C parts and labor. In the meantime, I have a 45-year old Chevy truck that is still working well with the original compressor.
I know. I have a 25 yr old S10. I read somewhere a lot of it was originally designed in the 1940's and 50's and they just stayed with what worked in the newer models. I see too much of trying new things in Mercs instead of keeping what worked and not changing it.
Maybe a defected one? Make sure you have the right amount of R134A, Check if you getting power to the compressor when the system is activated. If not check compressor fuse and relay and pressure sensor on the line.
@@a2zautomasters862 How do you check if your are getting power to the compressor when the system is activated and if not, the pressure sensor on the line?
I finally got mine going after some more digging. For me it ended up being a cut wire for the pressure sensor that is also connected to the cooling fan. Check and see if your fan is turning on. Cause it could be the same problem
You sir made this easy or easier than what I was told. I've been told they have to disassemble half the car for this job.

Me too 🎉
Just bought an AC compressor for a 2005 clk320. Hope I can do it. Thank you for the great video.
Just replaced mine thanks to your help! Thank you!
Finally a clear video! Is this job the same as an Mercedes Benz 2007 C230 sport? And what are all the tools you used to do this job.
Thank you for your comment. It’s almost the same job. Mainly you will need E10 E12 and 6mm Allen and a ratchet

Plenty of room with M112. I did this job on W210 with M113. Getting the bolts out was lots of fun.
Wow looks like the only thing you took off was the fan belt..great job

Great video, didn’t you have to put some oil into the compressor before installation? Or is it pre added already ?
Some compressors come with the oil already and some don’t. I usually add 2OZ of oil with dye just in case of any future leaks in the system.

Can I replace my compressor and then drive somewhere to get the system filled/recharged, as long as I dont turn the AC on?
Yea Absolutely. Even if you turn it on nothing will happen. It’s made to activate when only pressure in the system.
