  • Our 4Runner just turned one! 30k miles and more fun than we ever could imagined. Hope you enjoy the video’s. In some of the clips the truck was completely stock. Easy way to tell it if you see the chrome running boards it was stock and if you see the black RSG sliders it was modded. The upgrades it has are OME 3inch suspension from ToyTec, SPC adjustable UCA's, RCI full steel skids, RSG Sliders, rear end breather relocated to gas cap and BFG KO2's 285/70/17's.

    I can’t say enough about this video. No lame music. Great footage with lots of different terrain. Perfect rig. TRD off road package with AT’s and sliders is just awesome. All you need and nothing you don’t. And to top it off with the girlfriend doing big gasps here and there worried for you. Great video!

    Great video. Would recommend taking your water crossings slower. Common wisdom is no water at or above the headlights or you risk hydro locking your engine. Would hate to see that happen to you. Slow down and ride the bow wave.

      Thanks! 😉👍
      You are absolutely correct slower is better on water crossings. I’m usually by myself and have to weigh the risk of getting stuck or just blasting through a hole. Plus sometimes I just can’t help myself🤷‍♂️
      Not sure if you saw the other video (4Runner in Deep)on my channel definitely came in way to hot on that hole!!!!!😬
      I’ve been lucky my air box has always been bone dry.
      I have a snorkel to install before summer. The trails in south Florida are more like canals in the rainy season.

      My buddy hydro locked his 2013 jeep rubicon hitting water just like that. Why they put the intake just behind the hood
      boggles me. Its a weakness in the new Jeeps.

    • @jimerinrose6235

      Lunamaria we have a model based on the Prado here but it’s called Lexus GX
      I don’t think they sell the current
      4 Runner in Australia

    • @lunamaria1048
      @lunamaria1048 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe the Prado might be the Australian 4Runner equivalent?.. The Prado uses the 4Runner chassis but has the luxury of Land Cruisers, as well as a optional 3rd row and full time 4wd..... It looks like a slightly smaller 200 series Land Cruiser lol.. I recently bought my husband his dream overlander, a 94 Land Cruiser (80 series in Australia) with front and rear lockers and we are currently building it up for overlanding.. it is able to go absolutely anywhere while bone stock.. I absolutely love Toyota.

    • @jimerinrose6235
      @jimerinrose6235  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lunamaria yea I’m a Toyota nut too!
      I exclusively buy and sell land cruisers 40/80/100, Lexus GX 470/LX470’s in Florida along with classic American muscle cars.
      You can get a 4Runner with a third row here it’s a option in some of the models. I have a rear slider in mine. My wife drove a GX470 but we sold it now she drives a Hellcat. LOL We are out in Moab right now off-roading you might want to go to my channel I just posted a bunch of new video’s you might like. No cooking, camping or talking it’s all 4wd action hence the name lol

    I'm curious on what mode or setting you're using. Hope that there are some subtitles in showing what mode or setting you're using on 4runner. Something like (H4 or L4+Atrac or activate rear lock) in every trail. I'm a first timer about driving off road and it would be an educational video for everyone.
    Its a great video and I believe it will be the greatest ever video for educational for another content.

      @@jimerinrose6235 cool stuff. Old german cars like 911 and SL or americans like a Charger or Barracuda? They probably get all shiped to Bremerhaven next to me. Do you live near the keys? It looked alike in the other video at the begining in your way to the Carolina beaches.
      If I had some money I would start a business to import cars from the US to Germany/Europe. Especially trucks like your 4Runner, Tacomas, Colorados etc.
      Most non official (Jeeps are official within Jeep Germany) are RAM 1500's driven on LPG because it's much cheaper. All other trucks you can hardly see.

      Stefan Falldorf
      I sell classic American muscle cars and that’s mostly what my German friends buy. I have sent over a few older SL’s and 911’s but mostly late 60’s 70’s muscle cars. It’s a good business I think the issue with the newer cars is too much tax if the car is 30+ years old it’s a lot cheaper on taxes in Germany. They do get shipped to Bremerhaven. The bridges in the video were all near the outer banks in North Carolina. I live in Fort Myers FL south west coast.

      Yes, we germans buy a lot old- and youngtimer in the US and in France as well. A new trend out here could be pick up trucks from the 50's till 70's.
      With the new cars and trucks: german cars have been cheaper in the US as far as I can remember. Even netto (without taxes. They are a bit higher out here with 19%).

    Hi Jim and Erin, I've been following you since 2020. Love your videos, showing what the TRD OFF ROAD is capable of - truly impressive! I have a few questions:
    1. What sliders are you using?
    2. What tire size, brand, and load range are you using?
    3. Does your TRD OFF ROAD have KDSS?
    4. What lift, shocks, springs, etc are you using for the front and back?

    Love this video- only vehicle I have bought multiple of 4Runner TRD off road / premium. I leased one fell in love after having two Jeep wranglers in the past. As soon as I could get out of lease I bought an SR5 with all the bells and whistles but only lasted two months until trading it for a TRD off road premium x-series. This is my keeper. I don’t care if I ever want a different vehicle in the future I will pay off and keep this one as long as I can. This trucks are amazing! I tow my travel trailer all over Florida and near by states with it and I off-road on what we do have available in Florida. I saw in your video that you were in some of the spots in Florida but at around 8min in where was the rocky place? I was drooling. Im over the sand, mud and little tracks here in my state where you able to find some places in Southeast? NC or TN? Thanks for your time! Enjoy that beautiful truck! You’re doing a great job demonstrating its capabilities 😎🚙

      I totally know what you mean with some of the off-road video’s. 😂
      The truck came from the factory with a rear locker and A-Trac.
      A-trac is great, it applies the brakes to the wheel that is spinning allowing power to go to the wheel that has traction. It’s a great rig I off-road at least once a week and it only got stuck once. 😬

    Two things about this vehicle:
    1) There is no need for a hood scoop on this one....so why is it there ? Hood scoops kill mileage.
    2) The mileage is beyond awful. I know it's a big vehicle, but man, when gas goes to 4 bucks (and it WILL when Biden takes office), this will be too expensive to own.
    I like it and would buy it, but item #2 makes me worry.

    • @jimerinrose6235
      @jimerinrose6235  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      1) Who cares the hood scoop looks super cool!
      2) If you are worried about MPG you should by a prius
      All the stuff newer cars have ie (direct injection, CVT and 10 speed transmission, cylinder deactivations, turbo's) Gives them great MPG but kills their longevity and reliability.
      Buy what you like and don't look back.

      I look at every obstacle as doable or not in my mind. If I decide I can do it I really don’t have much fear. It’s making that decision before hand that gives me a little bit of anxiety. If you do something enough it just becomes second nature and your confidence drives you more than fear. If you put me in a situation I don’t have confidence in then my fear will kick in.

    Any fitment issues with the 285/70/17's on the factory rims?
    Toyota told me I couldnt run "33's" on the stock rims stating the factory rims were'nt wide enough.
    I realize 285's are closer to 32.8" but I've got 295's on my factory rims with a 4" rancho lift on my GMC sierra and the only problem I have is no offset on the rim so the tires rub on the upper control arms on tight radius turns.
    Did you have to run a wheel spacer for the factory rims to work with out rubbing?

      In some of the clips the truck was completely stock.Easy way to tell if you see chrome running boards it was stock. The upgrades it has are OME 3inch suspension from ToyTec, SPC adjustable UCA's, RCI full steel skids, RSG Sliders, rear end breather relocated to gas cap and BFG KO2's 285/70/17's.

      In some if the videos. If you see the factory chrome running boards the truck is stock. I put the black sliders on when I did the lift .

    Do you do anything extra after all the in-water driving? Drain/fill transfer case, rear diff...?

      Scott T No, I extended the rear diff breather to the gas cap location and the front diff and transfer case have raised breathers from the factory. I changed the rear diff once and it didn’t have any water in it. The truck has over 40k on it now at 50k I plan on changing the front and rear diff ,transfer case, and trans fluid. I do have a snorkel on order. 😉
