I have an XBox One X. I have found the triggers very sensitive. I bought the game in October and have been using a gamepad since I have no room for a wheel rig. I've tinkered around with controller settings and I think I've found the "Golden Set". Note I have a new controller. The high DZs are if you have a worn controller. If your controller is new you don't need them. So YMMV on the DZs. Also note that I hate understeer and set up cars for a little oversteer. Steering DZ = 1 Steering Sensitivity = 22 (I'll have to try 17) Throttle DZ = 0 Throttle Sensitivity = 8 (this saves a lot of grief and makes it easier to slowly accel out of corners) Brake DZ = 0 Brake Sensitivity = 5 (this makes trail braking easier) Clutch (don't worry here since you're using the button or bumper) Speed Sensitivity = 96 Controller Damping = 82 (I don't have perfectly still thumbs) Controller Vibration = 100 (I like to feel the curbs) Also for Indy Cars on the oval - set your steering ratio at 29:1 For road tracks: set your steering ratios to 18.5:1 Now go enjoy Nordschleife.
Julia-6 your settings are almost exactly the same as mine! Love it! That update was much needed and I too don't have room for a wheel setup.... yet lol
Wanna say thanks for these settings, I was tearing my hair out trying to play this with a controller as I don't have space to have my wheel set up permanently and thanks to you (and some modifications from other commenters) I finally have it set up to where I can get through a race with no spinouts whatsoever.
Just found out this video after 4 weeks of fiddeling with the settings. Seems like these suggestions are spot on. Gained 1,5 sec in the first lap already. Might tweak a little more as sharp turns at low speeds are difficult as said in the comments. Thank you for your awesome guide!
Just tested these for an hour on the M3 and every thing is good except for that speed sensitivity setting at 95 i think its horrible to drive you dont feel connected to the front wheels in real time, putting it back to 65 and keeping every thing else as in the video its a realy nice experience so yet again thanks Yorkie for the video.
Great tips and I will try them later. Could I recommend that SMS adds a reset to default for the configuration and authenticity tabs. Also having option to save these settings under different profiles so you could load them for different types of cars would be a great help. Thanks for your time and effort that you put into these videos. Later
Have a look at the "Mini Steering Wheel" for original game controllers, it fits over the top of the controller and gives you a bit more fine control over the car.
So glad to get the v4 update on my console! It was around 12gb and that means they put in some work to keep improving the game. PC2 is an epic sim racing game that I just can't stop playing. I see it only getting better and better from here even tho it rates 10/10 with me. Enjoyed the vid and please keep them coming. Thanks -Matt J.
Hello there i just found your vid/channel and i like to thank you for all the help i was about to mess up the settings but i saw that they are the default and the best in general i just wish they where a bit more smoother Edit: Ok so i was looking at the configuration settings and i just found the sweet spot. If you want more smoother game-play change the controller damping from 67 that is the default number to 75 i find it to be much more smoother when i steer. all other settings are at the default numbers Steering Deadzone: 7 Steering Sensitivity: 17 Throttle Deadzone: 10 Throttle Sensitivity: 30 Brake Deadzone: 10 Brake Sensitivity: 75 Clutch Deadzone: 10 Cluth Sensitivity: 25 Speed Sensitivity: 95 Controller Damping: 67 -->75 Controller Vibration: 50 Minimum Shift Time: 0 RPM/Gear Display: Yes
You should be able to create different settings for different cars just like setups. The Formula Rookie runs a lot better with a high speed sensitivity; but the Clio, on the other hand, requires a lower speed sensitivity otherwise you'll have a ridiculously small wheel lock range, forbidding you of making most corners at racing line.
What a neat little feature slightly mad studios have added to the game, Another great tutorial yorkie didn't know that was coming out have to go and test it for myself, but keep up the great videos and very informative as always
I often wonder if you guys using controllers think about adjusting steering ratio in car tuning, can make a big difference to how twitchy a car feels, castor angle has an influence too. I'm a wheel user myself and never tried a pad so maybe way off the mark hear but a just a thought.
Likewise for me. Steering ratio is one of the first things I look at at each track when using a controller. Set for the sharpest corner and go from there.
Do you or anyone recommend controller settings for the Ford fusion on ovals? Because the handling is atrocious after leaving the pits. No turning after 1st gear and immediately run to the wall. Someone please help!
You probably figured it by 2 years lmao but I had the same damn problem that's crazy. I couldn't find anything but just simply go settings and reduce your speed sensitivity down to around 93-95
I use these Settings and for me they work pretty well: Steering DZ = 0 Steering Sensitivity = 25 Throttle DZ = 0 Throttle Sensitivity = 5 Brake DZ = 0 Brake Sensitivity = 25 Clutch = no changes cause i don't use it Speed Sensitivity = 98 Controller Damping = 38 Controller Vibration = 100
I can have fun all day using a controller without any problems. The trouble is when I try to use my wheel. I can't get the settings right on that thing to save my life. For example, when I'm going through a fast corner my car is pushing to the outside like it should but at the point where it should go back straight it keeps turning. I'm having to turn the wheel a lot to correct it and I know it's not the car setup so it has to be a wheel setting. I'm about to give up on my wheel and just stick controller only. Don't know what else to do.
I'd go back, reset everything to default and start from scratch. Make sure you have the correct wheel selected in your settings, calibrate both your wheel and pedals and try again. From there, you'll eliminate whether it is a wheel issue, a car setup issue or if its your driving. Trying out different cars will help you identify the last 2, but one thing you should definitely be avoiding is treating this like an arcade game. You will need to counter steer and be more marginal and accurate with your inputs. Try and avoid turning more than 90 degrees unless in slow tight corners. Without footage to see what it is exactly you're doing, its hard to identify the issue and provide the relevant steps or information to correct it.
@@Yorkie065 Thanks for the tips Yorkie. I am just using an entry level wheel, the Thrustmaster TMX, but I haven't given up yet. I was reading last night about how to change the wheel rotation on the fly and I was just trying it out when you commented back to me. I think the wheel rotation was my problem. I have around 120 hours on this game and I love it. It's hard to go back to arcade type racing games now. I am playing on the Xbox one and the way I changed the rotation is by pressing Dpad left or right and the mode button at the same time. Thanks again and I'll comment again if I'm still having problems.
I find the steering sensativity to be insanely frustrating. At first input it turns just a little bit, then it jumps to full steeringlock. No gradual change. I can't seem to find a setting where it doesn't behave this way. And the speed sens doesn't realy help either as it just makes it oversteer in slower corners. It is extra frustrating since it works flawless with base settings in RaceRoom, but it seems impossible to replicate those settings in PC2.
I use steering sensitivity at 85, otherwise it seems that the car doesn't turn in a tight corner, i'm I doing something wrong? I use the tilt movement of the controller.
Not necessarily. I've not used the tilt movement of controllers before so I don't know how easy it is to use that as a method of turning. If it works for you then great!
i got new controller xbox one s pc wireless, and first time change the direction to left o rigth works, but testing settings now not works only work the right stick, what its this issue?i try unistall and install and same issue...............
Delete all the Project CARS 2 files on your system or console. This will remove things like your Career saves, setups etc. I know on PC you can delete just the file tied to controller settings without having an impact on the rest of your profile, but I am unsure about consoles. Always a good idea to make a back up of all your files first before deleting them to reset them, just in-case things go wrong so you can restore them again.
My controller is always turn all the way whenever i tilt a little bit.. Its like im playing with keyboard. Its so hard When u want to do small turn but every time the steer is going all the way. Anyone know how to fix this? Ps : sorry for my bad english
It is probably related to steering sensitivity and speed sensitivity settings. Try playing with around with those to see if you can get better results.
Allright, probably nobody is gonna answer this but. Every time i'm in qualifying my car feels great. But when im gonna race the car drives like crap? Someone the same problem?
oscar buismann if you are on OG Xbox One or S. The grid size is to large & all of the processing needed isn't being achieved (GPU & CPU limitations on those 2 Xbox consoles). Therefore the physics are effected. Doesn't happen to people on Xbox One X.
1989pulsar I don't have any problem with the physics in qualifying or in the race with a full grid of 16-22 cars. In most cases the visual effects and graphics are what's affected by the jammed processing. I don't have a One X or S just the OG Xbox One. I think the problem may be with the loaded setup b4 the race. I have to make sure I have the same or better car setup b4 I start the race. If not it will go to default basic or something. It could also be cold tires, breaks, transmission and oil etc.
oscar buismann if u have a 1070 TI you should have no problems at all with the physics of the car. Even with a minimum of 4gb of GDDR4 ur good. Check ur cars tune or "setup" b4 the race to make sure it's the same as the one ur using in qualifying
Are you checking and adjusting for track temperatures? Also how many laps are you doing in qualifying when it feels good? You start qualifying with cold tires and brakes. In the race, they are already at optimum temps to start.
I bought pc2 and sell it a couple of years ago, I bought last week because of deep sale on PS Store..I regret so much... the handling its so unnresponsible and even trying differents setups it's impossible because there isn't a direct/progressive relation between the input on your controller and the virtual wheel/handling of your car. It doesn't matter how hard you try, there is no satisfactory way of playing this game with a pad. And the Anti aliasing still is a problem never patched on PS4, during change of night/day you can see lines in the sky, the game it's broken and it's a shame the devs never patched.
They need to make it so controller settings (dead zone, sensitivity, etc) update when changed IN RACE! We shouldn't have to exit to the main menu for it to take effect.
