Fake AudioQuest K2 speaker cable review: climbing the fake mountain

- I was talking about that cable earlier, but without SQ info - just the mechanical properties then.
Now I'm done with my speaker cable comparisons so I can comment on sound qualities of this fakey fake.

I bought my silver speaker cables instead of cheap copper and indeed im impressed how it made a positive difference in sound. Mine were around 60$ so now I understand that everything matters, what quality of material they use, what is inside, also my cable has around aluminium tape which is great as I checked them from the inside. I would call it the most important thing next to a DAC. But every system is so different, even house electricity and so on. I understand why there is so many ppl thinking so many things. If ppl think it's stupid to play with power cables, speaker cables, yes. The power is in everyone of us to make decision and make action, many ways to improve. Thanks for inspiration with your stuff.

Oh, wow... I just took a chance on these and ordered a pair for my ancient AR58s. They sound veiled with ofc. Your videos are helpful and very interesting. Sub'd. I took note of your observation on the dbs. Why not just terminate correctly when assembing, right? Seems easy enough to do correctly to avoid an unnecessary, forced error in performance. Anyway, I enjoy your vids very much. Thank you for your investment and time.

I've no idea why they do that, but this is wrong when considering patent docs. If I'll have the time I'll borrow some original DBS speaker cable to measure connections and maybe do 1:1 comparison with fake.
Also, this kind of connection worsened SQ with my e-stat speakers (which I think I've mentioned)
I use my Ali Express Audioquest Comets without the banana plugs. I prefer the sound...
I was thinking about doing video on bananas vs spades vs bare wire, it seems many people are looking for such basic stuff. For me it's bananas mostly, as I am swapping cables and equipment quite often
Hi, so a friend of mine has what we believe are genuine CV-4, and the DBS system is connected to the Negative speaker lead as tested with a multi-meter.
That's weird, if that's original, because the patent doc says otherwise. Also, this kind of connection with my electrostats caused dark and muddy sound. When I removed this the cable became brilliant.
@@k4syx I'll discuss the origin of those cables with him again. I have them on loan, and was curious, so did that quick test. The thing that was different between them and the Ali K2 was which pole was connected. With the CV-4 it's the tip that's connected, with the K2 it's the barrel.

@@k4syx So, I'm no EE, but figure 9 in the patent, and its detailed description in the body of the patent, seem to indicate the Biasing Means is connected to one of the connections between the two electrical devices(?) I haven't had a chance yet to discuss the CV-4 with my friend, just started looking into this in more depth...
@@barryecohen acc to patent there are two lines for carrying bias signal and one is in geometric center with another one connected to shielding so you have a unified biasing field. That's how I see it, the diagrams really could be better there.
Did you see this wrong SBS connections too with your Dragons? Is it necessary to check this if someone buy these too?
Yes I've seen them and corrected them, but probably forgot to mention that in dragon video. I will return to that with summary video for all of them (it will be easier to just compare them against each other without getting into details like diameter)

Between rocket 88, k2 and dragon, which one would you recommend for the sound and price ?

Hi! For the sound, Dragon. For value, K2. Rocket 88 is also great choice, not as expensive as K2 and 80prc sq.

For the sound, the gap between k2 and dragon is big ? Because k2 is more than half price.

@@zilli0n59 gap is not that big, K2 is like 85prc of drain in sound quality in my system, but the price difference is very big.
Audioquest cables ... 😂😂😂😂😂 the owners are laughing all the way to the bank .... making 10,000 % profits and more on each cable

K2 is better in all aspects but one: it can be sometimes bordering on sibilant. Not always, not with every equipment, but pairing is the key here. This comes probably from the fact that it's silver plated instead of being solid silver. R88 is great cable with no weaknesses, really great, but K2 is just higher in the AQ ladder.
@@k4syx thanks again. I have some thinking to as sibilance is my “no go” for listening. The K2 and Rocket 88 are pretty close price wise as well.
@@user-fh7cv7vm7jyes it's the same for me. Sibilance is a no go. But K2 is not sibilant. It's bordering on being sibilant for some particular songs. I've read interesting thought lately: that good system shouldn't mask or cover the sibilance that is actually present in the recording. I have to think about that :)

@@k4syx what I have some theories…are they fake products? Some products you have been tested are hard to distinguish sound quality from the original - are they maybe produced in the same factory as original ones, secretly let say in night shift out of control? That means, yes it is steal, but also prove that production price are 50 to hundred times less that selling price of the branded ones! Who is stealer than?
2'.57" : it happens v.... ...? You see or better hear?: pronunciation really matters and do take care for that.
Compliments for all you work, I'll see them all and used your advice in the past on a spectacular cable. :-)
And I'm after 700 hours of burning in very happy with them. 🙂 and I do agree with your experience also.
....So...: it is IMPORTANT to pronounce well and don't swallow your words! 😞
You destroy your own work sometimes with bad pronunciation and we have to guess what you ment.

Yes these all were recorded on the same day as I wrote earlier. I have one more scheduled from this session and I need to record new stuff that I have lined up, should be better then :)
