Chinese Dragon, that was supposed to be Audioquest Dragon. Dragons, dragons everywhere!

- Another one that I got from Ali - couldnt resist trying after I got "almost" Rocket 88.
This one is supposed to be Audioquest Dragon Zero speaker cable: 41k Eur for a pair, right?

I have a Martin Logan home Theater and really appreciate these videos. Took your advice on the Dragon speaker cable, Blizzards, and Silver cloud. WOW you weren’t kidding! Connected to my McIntosh equipment they made a big improvement on what I had thought was already perfect. Can’t wait for your review of the Dragon XLR! The breakout (where the overall cable transitions to the separate + and - legs) should be plastic (ABS), same as for the red and black barrels on the spade lugs. When metal, these parts absorb RF Noise and couple it into the cable. So many brands have fancy metal breakouts and barrels that unnecessarily damage the sound.
It's a shame that death, taxes and criminals (counterfeiters) will always be with us.
i m using fake AQ redwood biwire, for 10 years with not fake silver cables together. The fake audioquest provide incredible sound stage, the pure silver provide incredible details.

I don't know if all of them are, but for the price, these are really something.
These look like some "night shift" job, as I think the difference is in the metals used (silver vs silver plated copper). The rest, including normally invisible markings on the insulation seems to be real deal.

Nice video man, Last year I got & still continue to use a 2 metre pair of rocket 22 from amazon, i cut off the supplied soldered banana plugs & bare wired at the speaker end only onto my entry level monitor audio floorstanders, & to my ears they sounded much better than the 2 metre pair of qed xt 40i with Airlock banana's i also got from amazon last year, even though they both sound good sometimes I wonder if both sets of these cables could be fakes too?
I think Amazon has Audioquest and QED brand stores, so they should be real. I have some original QED cables (like Anniversary XT) and they are nice for the price, but they do tend to be bright. I've switched to Audioqest a few years back because they seem to be more sweet and melodic for me (if that makes any sense :D)
@@k4syx Exactly bro, that's just what I thought about the rocket 22 when I 1st swapped it out from the Qed, although the Qed had liquid midrange (I'm serious), & the bass was nice but it must have been wearing a "veil" the treble could sometimes sound too high on some of my recordings too, Somehow!! as soon as I switched to the audioquest the bass was so full & textured & it nearly filled up all my listening space the qed's did not do this, the mids & treble sound clear not "liquid" but more open & even it also integrated very very well with the bass, I wish I had bought them years ago I feel if i upgraded my entire system these audioquest's would still sound very good wired up to it, the Qed's are now on my girlfriend's philips 8000CD mini system

Stranded cables are much better then solid cables. Do not buy AQ, they are not the best, buy Steven custom cables, great quality at a much much lower price, I moved my self from the K2's to Steven customs, and I have nothing to do with them at all, I found them by accident, their reference cable is incredible for about 500 dollars for 8 feet, better then the K2 that I pays 12K for the pair 6 feet.
So basically it's a scam just like the original one. But you pay less...

I have the hole fake lume on my dynoudio system thats the dragon power cable for my amp hurricane source for my meridian pro and dragon interconnectors plus dragon zero speaker cable . So for the sound quality i can say is superb. I have tested the real hurricane source to the fake one and there is a slight difference between the two and i mean slight but once you run in the fake one its very close thats on the hurricane. As for the fake drago pwr cable is far better than the real hurricane.

I would say out of all the RCA cables I have tested on my system the dragon RCA cables are well complementary with the dragon Loom but I think the DBS system plays apart with the rest of the dragon series which gives it that dark background and good clean clarity and tight bass.
I will do a video on DBS as I've found some interesting things when doing speaker and XLR cable testing. Stay tuned, I "just" have to record all vids on cables.
I could not find these on Alibaba. Do you have a link? I currently have the SKW cables from China. Very good, better than the Kimber cables I spent $748 for two 3 meter cables. I returned them right away.
Look on AliExpress for Dragon speaker cable. I think Alibaba was more for bulk ordering?

i am seriously considering Firebird or Dragon fake AQ cable... when you were ordering yours - did they came from Europe center by Ciaoniao (or soemthing like that) or did it actually went through customs and you payed customs charges?? please let me know... (i am worried that customs might recognize a fake and burn them like they did with some of the goodies i tried to import from ALi before)...
They came straight from China. I don't see how they could tell a fake if I barely can ;)

@@k4syx that is correct, i agree ... but, our customs are crazy... they will check the price of the cable and want to charge the customs charges for it - if i tell them it is costing way lower, they will assume it might be a fake........ have seen that before.....
so, comming straight from China and not through Hungary or some EU Ali distribution center, might raise a red flag at customs......

Yes, but you have to cover return shipping fees, this may be significant cost depending on your country. At least that's what Ali states :)

I am. It was a close call with K2's but in the end, these are the best overall. They are here to stay, they are great and my wallet has hit it's limits (with a loud screech & crash).

I will look at it - the DBS system on these is connected in a strange way, different than in AQ patent docs so I've connected it correctly (removing short to one of audio signal wirings (-))
Can you share a link? I've looked for it and the only thing I can see is video on (real) Thunderbird. They have something else on fake dragon?

Yes I have one, that was actually my first fake cable buy. I will do a review on that one too and I will do a comparison between 88, Dragon and K2 (and original 44 and 22 that I also own). In case of cables its easier to do a comparison review than single review, as I've learned doing XLR and power cable shootouts during Christmas (I have to publish those).
(fake 88 is my daily driver now, until I will compare all three of them)
Can you make this comparison rather quickly because there are sales going on Ali until 12 January. I can't afford the Dragon cable but the Rocket 88 or K2 seems reasonably priced now. @@k4syx There exists also a Xangsane SP-6008Ag 7N OCC speaker cable (green color) but i don't know if that one is better than the Audioquests

Actually that's a good point. I've heard and own real Audioquest xlrs up to fire (fire, water, Yukon, big sur and red river, golden gate) I've also owned various stuff like mogami, canare, wire world -all up to aurora (included) some low level nordosts, Real cable and local boutique brands. I have 4 setups so I'm swapping xlrs quite often.
Price wise basically all real Audioquest cables are more expensive than these fakes.
Aaaand now I've realized that you asking about speaker cables not xlrs. So, Audioquest up to rocket 88 and type 9 (all of them), various QED up to silver anniversary, some mid tier nordost flats (red dawn, blue heaven), some other stuff like Dali branded ones - surprisingly good for bottom level pricing.

@@guillermomartin8248 sure. I'd say that it was close to 580USD for three meter pair with silver spades. A lot for a fake, I know, I was curious to try it.
@@k4syx In any case, when we see the price of the originals, that closes the debate. Dragon's fakes are excellent cables that are much more superior than many other originals on the market.

Own original AQ Wild power cable and XLR. Also own fake AQ Dragon Bi wire Wel single wire Dragon power cable and fake Odin power cable XLR and rca. I will not advertise them and they should be banned in Eu but love them. Recently opened up Wel and compere it to Dragon zero and Wel is much better in terms of build. If you like to see photos get in touch with me. Thanks for video great job even though dont like idea of promoting Chinese fakes. But from the other point we can have great cables in good price.

I have WEL XLR (fake), Blizzard and Silver Cloud (also fakes, both power cables) and some more lined up for a review. I don't know if they are fake or if someone is using factory equipment illegally. To many questions here, I'll do a video on that later on.

@@ZEN_X999 yes XLRs for now (browse through my vids or search for XLR there). HDMI scheduled for next week release I think (as I2s and HDMIs). Coax - I have few of them (4?) and I can review them. Good idea actually, as I also have a "collection" of other cables like USB f.e.
Dismantle your cable and prove to us with the real Dragon that it is not pure silver etc.
For the price, this fake is one everyone should own. It's shameful to offer cables at indecent prices. So thank you to the Chinese for allowing us to have this kind of cable at affordable prices.
Are you aware that the BDS makes the cable worse?? try it without it, big difference, also you can see the test and analysis of this cables on TH-cam. Reason to have a DBS is a lie. AQ lies all the time about their products anyways.
I've tried cables with and without DBS, honestly - no difference to my ears. I got the patent docs and white paper, in general, physics - biasing the dielectric - seems to make sense. But will you be able to spot the difference? I'm not, though I left them on - I can't hear the sound getting worse either.
@@k4syx Actually I remove the DBS and get better sound overall at list on the Audioquest K2 that I own, now I only get the Steven custom 9 Gauge signature or the reference which are 6 gauge N5 cooper with a 2Gauge silver strand. they sound incredible.and they are actually pretty low priced.
@@oneemotiva4975 That's interesting thing, actually I have bulk K2 that I was going to terminate at some point in time and I was wondering about buying used DBS's for it. How would you describe changes in sound after removing DBS, what's better?
@@k4syx I am myself using the K2's now without the DBS< and sound amazing, I used a Signal to noise ratio and much less noise without the DBS. I guess it is also a personal preference maybe? but it is some audioholic tests about the AQ cables with DBS and without, you can find it online, also they have an article where AQ replied to them trying to make their point. Now they are adding their DBS to all cables. I do not see the actual purpose at all, if this was the case all manufacturers will come up with a similar product. The K2 cables are very good by gheir self, also tested a set of Chinese K2's that I received a few days ago, they also stated they are made by another comp nay and they where not real KE2s, and I was extremely surprise, they have a very large imaging and clarity, maybe that is why AQ destroys them? But reality is that they do not have the right to do so without reimbursing you. , but I think Kimber is the best sounding, and I tried Gobel, CrystalCable, Wilson Benesch and others. Have fun with the Bulk K2.
