    I have a 2018 crosstrek. I cleaned the screen and messed it up. I held down radio, power and tune for 10 seconds it reset radio. Fixed issue.

    Man a video with absolutely no answers for the real problem. It’s the main power input on the head unit. Take it apart and solder the bad connection on the mother board.

    These touchscreens are most often delaminating so there's no fix and you can't turn off the touchscreen sound. Aftermarket units are available that are direct connect (steering wheel controls, back-up camera, etc) plus have more features. I got a JVC KW-V660BT for $621 installed.

    • @MrSteve280
      @MrSteve280 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just purchased a direct replacement by JVC (retains CD, steering wheels controls, back-up camera). The radio itself was $300. With all of the cables & connections, faceplate, and installation it was $672 grand total. HOWEVER, I decided to forgo the GPS since it's on my smartphone and it would have increased the price of the radio about $400 more.

    There is a problem within the head unit. It I believe melts the power input on the head unit mother board and you have to take it apart and solder the bad connection, that’s the fix

    Are there any aftermarket radios that I can replace the OEM radio that will cure these issues ? I just replaced my radio with a used one and the touch screen is frozen but everything else seems to work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I can supply you with my email if it would be easier. Ciao, Claudio

    I have a 2018 Outback Premium, Touchscreen goes berserk, jumping from command to command. "Fingerprint" like blemishes are growing on the screen. Doing the reset procedure (Volume+Tuning+CD-eject") shuts off the system, but does not fix the problem. I simply go without music or apps. Backup camera still works. Warranty not in effect. Subaru wants $1800 for replacement, but there is a long waiting line. NEVER buying a Subaru again.

      I have a 2018 Outback and same issue just came up this summer. Bubble like blemishes showing up on the screen and now it goes haywire pressing different commands non stop while I’m driving. This should be a recall given how many are experiencing the same issue.

      @@jimmyg5569 you can call Subaru of America, they took care of expenses to replace new infotainment system, even though my car was out of warranty. I had to pay around $200 for everything (total was around $2200)

    Thank you for this helpful video. In addition to the freezing screen, my Subaru Outback 2018 infotainment system randomly calls the first of my favorite phone contacts, 5 times today, AND replays old voicemails instead of playing my audio book. Do you have any videos that address these issues? When I disconnect my USB cord, the radio blares at me. I hate this car. Thank you.

    Thanks for the head up. Luckily I don't have a screen problem for my 2015 Outback. However I have to re-consider getting a 2024 Crosstrek for my daughter if it does have a prevalent screen problem. Subaru infotainment system is noticeably slower than the other competitors too.

    My 2018 Outback Touring with the 3.6L V-6 has had four dealer-supplied Subaru batteries in six years -- three free replacements, one crappier than the next, and the last one post-warrantee recommended by the dealer's repair shop being an extra-large one that I had to pay $100 extra.
    Now, six years after the car's purchase, and apparently after the lawsuit settlement for five-year coverage, the infotainment system freezes. Calling the repair shop, I was told I could bring it in for a fee or verify it has a software update, which the staffer said happens automatically if it's within wifi range. The screen functions intermittently: Working, frozen, working, frozen.
    Up until a week ago, I attempted to convince my wife to buy an Impreza. Now? Toyota or Honda. I cannot believe how disappointing is the Outback's quality, or lack of quality.

    Does anyone know if there is an aftermarket radio that you can put in these cars to replace these junk factory radios? Subaru tech is total GARBAGE! Restart, reset, software updates, blah, blah, blah.. NONE OF THAT WORKS. Subaru gives you the run around and will not take responsibility. Replacement radios cost over $1000, and on top of that, they're not even available because so many cars need replacements and they can't make them fast enough. My advice: Don't by a Subaru under any circumstances. Subaru might have saved $20 on each car by putting in cheaply make tech, but they will ultimately LOSE by alienating customers like myself for life.

    I have a 2015 legacy and the system has gone haywire. I turn on my car and it randomly plays a radio station, a cd (which it won't eject) or makes a phone call. The only control that responds to me is volume (but i can't turn it off). This is a safety issue. I've turned off Bluetooth so i can use my phone for podcasts and navigation, but now my State Farm safe driving app won't work and i may lose my discount. Held the buttons down several minutes and nothing happened. Can't get into settings. Anything else i can try?
