I got the same grill last year for my father's day present from my wife also. And I luv my grill.

IMO, depending on what you're cooking. I would keep that upper rack handy. Ribs IMO should go on the upper rack, and i usually cook pork butts on the upper rack with a water pan. Nice grill, and happy smoking! Just got into this hobby about a year now myself. Always learning for sure.
That makes sense. I'm sure it could come in handy. For now, I enjoy the freedom of movement. Happy smoking and I hope we both keep learning!

Did I see correctly that the temperature control goes up in 5 degree increments? Any issues with holding temp?

Yes indeed, it is in 5 degree increments. I have found the it holds temperature very well. It will overshoot by a few degrees as it tries to maintain the temperature, but it quickly goes back to your set temperature. More than good enough in my opinion. Thanks for watching!
