  • Hey there folks, it's your favorite dad here and today I'm bringing you a review on the Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Grill. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Dad, you're not exactly known for your outdoor cooking skills," but hear me out.
    I've been grilling up a storm on this bad boy for the past few months and I gotta say, I'm pretty impressed. It's got all the bells and whistles you could want in a grill - a wood-fired oven, a smoker, a rotisserie, and even a built-in karaoke machine (okay, maybe not that last one, but a dad can dream).
    So, is it worth your hard-earned money? Well, let's just say that my neighbors have been smelling my delicious BBQ from a mile away and even they're considering getting one for themselves. Plus, my wife is happy that I'm finally cooking dinner instead of just microwaving frozen pizzas.
    So, if you're in the market for a new grill and want to impress your family and friends with your newfound grilling skills, then the Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Grill is definitely worth checking out. And if you happen to invite me over for a BBQ, I promise I'll bring my best dad jokes and maybe even some karaoke tunes (if we can't find the built-in machine, that is).
    Don't forget to hit that "Subscribe" button and ring that notification bell, because you won't want to miss a second of the dad-approved fun! Let's get grillin'! 🍔🌭🔥

      @@DadGotThis I put the ribs in at 250 for an hour (on Smoke). I cut the rack in half and used a mustard binder and pork rub. After 30 minutes I sprayed them with Coke because I ran out of apple juice. After the hour I pulled them off, added butter, honey, a little more rub and my favorite BBQ sauce to both side, wrapped them in foil and back on the Ninja at 350 and set to Bake. Amazing! Also I got the ribs at Walmart ... really. They were called Meaty Baby Back Ribs.

    After forty years of marriage, I am taking on the cooking choirs. I love my wood fire grill. As far as cleaning, I spray with that Dawn Power wash, spay it rinse with clean water and a sponge then repeat as needed. I found a stainless steel wire brush works well in cleaning the wood hopper and the spring on the door. Overall, this is the only product i'll recommend to friends without any hesitation.

    Just received this as a gift so very well timed release for my benefit haha! Great review, I would agree with the statement that the grill could be bigger. A bigger option from Ninja would be a nice middle ground for someone who doesn’t want to or can’t commit to a full sized pellet grill and smoker such as a Traeger.

    got one and am trying the full range of uses, does great pork chops crisping up the rind, I have found that it can be difficult to get the pellets smoking properly (I had to return one that refused to smoke especially on the smoker function) and I often have to do a second ignition on the pellets after 10 minutes. So easy and quick to use weeknight bbq for one is just so simple

    • @DadGotThis
      @DadGotThis  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Interesting, I have not had that issue with the pellets not igniting except once where I think they were packed too tight. I think they need to be a little loose to allow air to circulate.

    • @gianlucamazzi7878
      @gianlucamazzi7878 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you pellets aren’t stored in a sealed container and have any exposure to hair, they can fill a little with moisture and that will ruin the igniting of the pellets. Please not your not supposed to get a fire, it’s just supposed to lightly smoke. That’s the genius of it. The fact that it delivers as much smoke as most smokers without a flame is amazing

  • @jkahre
    @jkahre ปีที่แล้ว +79

    Regarding the small size: they made it as big as they could for using a standard 120v 15 amp outlet. It's 1760 watts, which is maxing out the outlet. To go bigger and still be able to attain the same temps would require higher wattage and a 20 amp outlet (usually non-residential) or 240v. The "sear" feature would present the same challenge: higher wattage.

      It takes this much power to use this thing? Most large pellet smokers or even the table top ones use 200 to 300 watts

    • @jmo2321
      @jmo2321 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      @@santiagoaguilar8429yes, it’s using an electric heating element as it’s main source of heat. The pellets aren’t used for heat as much as they are used for flavor. With a pellet grill/smoker, the heat comes from the pellets itself. The electric draw on a pellet grill/smoker is used to power the controller, fan, auger, and a small heating element that is only used to initially start the pellet fire. Once started it no longer uses the heating element. The ninja is essentially an electric griddle with a lid and a side pot for burning pellets from the electric heater element. This only gets to about 400F unfortunately and you generally want to sear at 500+F . The fact that it’s pulling full current out of a standard outlet, there’s no going hotter or larger. This is a cool grill though for small easy smokes.

    After having my wood fire grill for about 1 month, I found I didn't care much for the pellets Ninja provided so I've since switched to using Royal Oak Charcoal hardwood pellets. I am totally in love with the flavor these pellets deliver. Much better. I don't think I will ever return to using the ninja pellets again. Cleaning is a breeze but sometimes it takes a while for the pellets to die down. I have used a light water spray bottle to cool them, works fine to extinguish a little faster. Good review!

    Nice video! I ended up getting it but I’d say, The ninja smoker definitely cooks some good smoked food but there’s a major learning curve to it. If you smoke you meats with the smoker setting, I’d recommend letting the smoker run for about 10 mins after pre-heat before putting in any of your food otherwise it will get that white smoke and your food will taste bitter and unpleasant.

    • @DadGotThis
      @DadGotThis  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Nice tip!. It does seem to have a bit of a learning curve to it. I also think it depends on if you ever used any other kind of smoker before. If you have it is a little harder I believe. If you haven't you don't have any habits or things that trip you up as much.

    Ninja Foodi items are notoriously difficult to clean. I have the Ninja Foodi 10 in 1 XL Pro Air Fryer Oven and love everything about it except cleaning it. You have to thoroughly clean it each and every time you use it otherwise a sandblaster is the only thing that will clean those oven walls. Many people swear by the Pink Stuff (mildly abrasive) but so far I have just used soap, hot water and the hubby's elbow grease.

      Agree. Love our Foodie Grill/Griddle/Air Fryer. Don't worry that much about the spatter up and around the top. My big disappointment is the grill grate. It is a giant PIA to clean. Toss it in the dishwasher they say. Nope. Won't clean the stuck on stuff. Clean it by hand (without damaging the non-stick coating), not so easy to do.
      So, we mostly put foil or parchment under anything we cook on the grill if we're not looking for those grill marks.

This is really an amazing grill I have used many gas, charcoal and electric grills. The smoker and convection are a game changer on this one. One tip though I read where people say to refill the pellets on long cooks. To me this is unnecessary. The pellets have are just there to add smoky flavor. Even on a 3-4 hour cook one round of pellets is plenty for me. On anything quick burgers, wings etc. I only use a half scoop of pellets. Don’t like is when the smokiness overpowers the other flavors.

      I like having the probe separate because you can use it in a lot of other places like the oven, another grill, a pan anywhere. If you get the attached one you are stuck with using it in the Woodfire. The tree behind me is a cassava. Thanks for watching!

    New subscriber here… Thanks for a great review. Ninja heard your request and just recently released a Woodfire Pro Connect XL and I will definitely be jumping on that model. Supposedly it has 30% more cooking capacity and 700 degree temp, alone with other cool features. This seems like an opportunity for a seared you’re looking for….. I can’t wait to see your review and input on this newer model.

    I will be waiting for the XL high temp version. The problem with high heat over 500 f is it will break down non stick coatings. i have a small space in the city so i can't have a proper grill or anything that spews fire for that matter, i can't help but wonder how does this stack up to cooking on actual coal/wood. does the meat get that lovely char that distinguishes it from something that's oven-cooked? i understand that i can't be 100% 1 to 1 to real fire, but does it even come close? because the sceptic in me makes it sound like it's a high powered contact grill without the top plate but with a smoker.
    for context, i'm from eastern europe where there is very little of american grill culture but a lot of cooking meat on wood, hence my hesitation

    • @DadGotThis
      @DadGotThis  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ok to be honest you are not going to get a charcoal grilled, or wood fire direct cooked taste. Now as far as comparing it to a smoker where char is not really a factor the flavor is pretty close. However you can get great flavor similar by smoking then air frying or just air frying with the smoker which does produce a nice char.

    Hi - you have some great videos, and you’ve probably already saved me a fortune in wood pellets with one of your other reviews 👍! I’m in the UK and I’ve just bought my first Ninja Woodfire Grill - interested to know if there’s a reason why the controls are different on the UK and US versions? On yours the rotary selector reads “OFF, GRILL, SMOKER, AIR CRISP, BAKE, ROAST, BROIL, DEHYDRATE”, but on mine it reads “OFF, SMOKER, GRILL, AIR FRY, ROAST, BAKE, DEHYDRATE, REHEAT” - why are some settings in different positions🤔? Also, does the US version have the hidden “ON/OFF” switch that’s on the UK one, tucked Waaay underneath the unit?

      If you are looking for that charred charcoal taste it is possible to come close. If you use charcoal pellets and use the air crisp (air frying) setting you get some nice char on things like chicken with a charcoal flavor. Same for steaks and chops etc. If you are doing a burger just on the grill setting you won't get that flavor because it is just like using a griddle, there is no flame kicking up on the food. I hope that makes sense???

      On actual smoked food yes. By that I mean things you smoke for hours like a pulled pork or brisket or ribs. On short cooks like chops, burgers, steaks you can get similar tastes using a smoke tube filled with pellets on a propane grill. The other thing to consider is the amount of propane used when you do a long smoke on a propane grill. I did some Memphis ribs that way and went through SO MUCH propane.

    I have it too. Only complaint is the steel plates (grease drip guides) seen on either side of the lid towards the bottom when it is in the opened position (as seen here 12:10). They don't work at all. Grease drips right through the cracks and completely misses the drip tray. It makes a huge mess on the plastic handles on the OUTSIDE of the grill... for no great reason other than Ninja must not have done quality control or they just don't care that grease gets everywhere but in the tray.

    Thank you this video. Has the coupon code expired? I couldn't get it to work for me.

      I just tried it on my end and it worked. It took it from $369 to $329. Maybe it is a region thing? Where are you from?

      @DadGotThis I realized this code only works on the standard version not the pro package. There is a different code for that one.

      Not sure about that. It is meant to work with lid open on grill setting. It’s the only setting you can use open.
