I've had my 1150 for 5 months now and love it. When I called about the PID controller. They sent me a new one in about 2 weeks. No need to send the old one in. The one problem I did have was, when emptying out the firebox, I must have knocked the ash cover, off its mounts and it blocked the firebox. Temps where all over the place, until I figured it out. Another tip, about the pellets. Is be careful keeping them in the hopper for an extended period. Moisture from rain and humidity can cause a blockage in the auger or affect the temp.

I agree their customer service is great. I personally dont like the diamon grill grates, that being said does anyone know of a good replacement for them?
The problem is the firmware update my good man! Give them a call and I promise you that smoker will handle all the cold you want. I have a video of torture testing ours and have smoked when we had the freeze as well without issue. Smoke on!
Ordered mine last night should be delivered by tues. Had to replace my pitt boss austin 1000 had it 4 years. Rust got the best of it. Very humid in NC.

I can only say that my pit boss pro series 4 vertical holds temp really good. I did a brisket last weekend and it held temp at 225 over night and all morning. my outside temp was upper 30s to mid 40s. I was concerned about how it would do but eveytime but once when i checked it was locked on the temp. Thanks for the review!
So far I can't complain. It's been working just fine for me. Hopefully it keeps going that way. But I have heard of people having the same issue as you.

I've had it for 2 months. Got it back in May of this year (2021). I ordered it online through Lowe's. Unfortunately, I think all the PID's are going to have to be sent back.

Im having an issue with my hooper not feeding pellets properly. It sucks pellets through the middle leaving a hole. Then then it runs out of pellets because no more pellets are falling. Anyone else have this problem?
Have you looked at 1100 SERIES INSULATED GRILL BLANKET WITH BACK VENTING? Pit Boss has it on their site for $89, I'd love to hear back if you use a blanket and how it works. My wife and I are moving up to Maine next year so this would be VERY valuable information! Solid review!

My understanding is that this Pro 1150 and the Pro 1600 will maintain temps much better after the PID firmware update.

How do you like the "S" setting... I'm still new to Pellet Smoking. Seems like mine doesn't produce very much smoke..

How well does it hold temps with the new controller in cold weather?
I never did change the controller. With a stroke of luck I guess. I've never had any issues with it keeping temp and staying at temp.
