John’s really putting that fretless bass to work on this song. I always mean it when I say that John McVie never gets the recognition he deserves as a bass player.

I disagree with all the other fleetwood mac fans. It's one of my favourite lost fleetwood mac songs. Its reggae. It's Stevie. It features one of the most unusual vocal arrangements I've herd.
    Just enjoy it.

I’m with you, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this song! The first time I heard it was December 1992, sitting on my couch in my first apartment and watching VH1, then I heard Stevie’s voice and about had a heart attack!! I was totally enchanted 😊 I went out that evening and got the box set!

Paper Doll" is a song by British-American band Fleetwood Mac. It was also released as a single exclusively in North America with The Chain as its B-side. While "Paper Doll" only achieved minor success in the US, it did reach the top ten in Canada.
    "Paper Doll"
    Single by Fleetwood Mac
from the album 25 Years: The Chain
    Released
    24 November 1992
    Recorded
    1988-1992
    Genre
    Soft rock
    Length
    3:56
    Label
    Warner Brothers
    Songwriter(s)
Stevie Nicks, Rick Vito, John Heron
    Producer(s)
    Richard Dashut
    Fleetwood Mac singles chronology
    "Love Shines"
    (1992) "Paper Doll"
    (1992) "I Do"
    (1995)
Paper Doll was recorded in 1988 and was initially slated to appear on the 1988 Greatest Hits album. Mick Fleetwood was not fond of the track though, so it was pulled in favor of "No Questions Asked".[1] "Paper Doll" eventually found a home on Fleetwood Mac's 1992 box set 25 Years - The Chain and The Very Best of Fleetwood Mac. While Lindsey Buckingham was no longer an active member of the band during the song's recording, he still contributed some guitar and vocal work for the track.

This song wasn't recorded for Behind The Mask, it was originally recorded for the 1988 Greatest Hits album but the band voted in favour of "No Questions Asked" for the album. This version is the 25 Years: The Chain one, wirh overdubs from Lindsey Buckingham, not the original recording.

  • @roseschocolate1991

fleetwood mac are quite possibly my favourite band of all time, there songs don't sound samey imo unlike some bands. but also they've got an unique style, cause of mixture of Lindsey Buckingham's pick and strum style guitar playing, Mick Fleetwood's drumming style, John McVie's Bass playing, Christine McVie's piano playing, and the three voices of Lindsey, Stevie and Christine that all imo are unique sounding voices but especially stevies voice, and then when all three voices of their voices are harmonised together it's just pure magic imo.

    • @donaldstewart6856

Stop giving Lindsey credit for this song. He only did back up vocals and background guitar. He was not a regular member of the group around this time. It was Billy Burnett and Rick Vito playing lead and rhythm on this song.

Not to reply to a year-old post, but Lindsey does in fact sing and play guitar on this song. It's his first recording with FM since 1987, and the only FM song to feature the lineup of Christine, Stevie, Billy, Rick, John, Mick, and Lindsey. Lindsey comes in at the end of the chorus with Stevie: "...fascinated by somebody else".

I have issue with the video for not showing Rick Vito who wrote the song with Nicks and John Heron. Vito played guitar and sang on the tune and was a full fledge member of the group after Buckingham left. Once again the music industry could care less about authenticity or giving credit where credit is due and simply slops shit together.

    • @stannis768
      @stannis768 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@richardbusson5903 - I agree....but believe it or not Lindsey co-produced the song with Ricard Dashut but he’s uncredited. He also provided additional guitar work and vocals. Vito and Heron wrote the melody and chords....Stevie the lyrics. If you know anything about Lindsey, he’s a control freak and a studio perfectionist. If Lindsey participated in any way with producing this song, he would of probably took complete control. Richard Dashut and Lindsey were extremely close and Richard would of absolutely followed whatever creative ideas Lindsey put forth. Vito left FM (1991), along with Stevie...so, perhaps that is the reason he’s not given that much “face time” in the video, which was released in 1992.

This was recorded for '25 Years The Chain' a FM box set that came out in 1992. No Lindsey although he did have a new song on the box set. I think the song is great. :-) Stevie left the group right after I believe and not long after she did the Clinton thing at the White House. She didn't reunite with the band until 1997.

It's Billy Burnett and Rick Vito. Lindsey was not a regular member of the band during this time.......he only played some background guitar and vocals.

How can U go wrong with FM or Stevie? NEVER! Got to LOVE it! We all have FAV's and I bet that if Stevie offered U FREE tickets there would be NO complaining Sam Tucan and U'd take them. So BUCK UP and be a TRUE FAN. :)

NIce of them to include Rick Vito and Billy Burnette in the video.

+jmahlon Someone unaware of the band's history would wonder who these two guys were (Vito & Burnette) as neither is EVER discussed by the current band members. VH1's "Fleetwood Mac: Behind the Music" completely ignored both Vito and Burnette, pretending as if they were never in the band and suggesting Lindsey simply quit, took a 10-year break and then rejoined a waiting band. These are the "lost" Mac members from the "lost" era - 1987-1992.

Rick Vito co-wrote the song. He and Billy play guitar on it and sang backing vocals. I assume Lindsey's parts were added later for the release on the box set.

Jack White I didn't know that but always assumed it was from that album because of the funky nature of the song and fun vibe that isn't like normal FM

Originally recorded in 1988 for the Greatest Hits album. It was finally released on the 25 Years: The Chain collection in 1992 with overdubs from Lindsey Buckingham.
