Pros: the company that makes this supplies EVERYTHING needed to easily fit it in any car (water pump, oil pan, alternator, motor mounts, all custom tailored for the car in question) Cons: ...for $70,000
Camhin1 This is a racing engine though. The powerband and throttle response is a helluva lot smoother than what you'd get out of a turbocharged 4 cylinder, and it's a lot more reliable in high revving, extended period racing. It's just coincidence that it happens to be in a BRZ. That's not saying you can't supercharge it turbo it either, most people just prefer naturally aspirated for racing purposes. And it's not just for the engine either. This wasn't meant to fit in any specific car, there's absolutely no BRZ-specific parts under that hood whatsoever anymore. No matter what car you're throwing it in it'll still be 70 grand, and in some cases that's good and others it's bad. Race cars - actual race cars (not just a 240 with no interior and a Seibon hood on BC coils) - are very expensive lol
@@wolfmannn2008 lmao good luck making a 2.4l 500hp 10,000rpm v8 reliable via mass production. The billet block itself probably costs synergy 10k in resources.
Can JUN make another one of these swaps but for a completely stock 22 Gr86, meaning it will bolt up to the stock trans and after changing rear gearing to accommodate the motor, run on factory electronics as a "bolt on" swap, retaining all factory functionality, and even the same displacement almost, but transforming the 22 gr86 into a v8 racecar
The bike engines are Japanese, but the new block design, the new crankcase design and crankshaft design is from a company called Synergy in New Zealand. It is strengthened in this case by internals from Jun auto.
would love to see that with a turbo set up. similar to Hartley Enterprise engines. next, 3.0liter v10 with turbos. great for small lightweight car, the right amount of tq/hp and the way the power is delivered is brilliant. good match for last gen Toyota mr-s.
You are right! in this video appears with stock brakes but I saw that they have install endless 6pot calipers and E-slotted 2-piece rotors... i think..
Cossie is right. Speedhunters did an article about the car last month if you want to read the build. www.speedhunters.com/2015/01/kiwi-flavoured-lemon-jun-synergy-brz-v8/
66 pounds came off the front axle. I think the stock brakes are doing a better job of slowing down that car's mass. The gummy tires are doing a great job also.
Wow wish I had one in mine. Better yet I wish I had that one. And the crew to work on it. Hell wish I would win the lottery I would have one. This one was for sale for 100k.
i think to show that a little "ENGINUITY" and outside of the box thinking, can create something thought provoking and just plain FCUKIN AWSOME. If was I was rich I'd buy the SUB and SCI and ship them over to JAPAN and be the 1st on the STREET hittin' the 10k RPM band!
Exactly. I don't care if the set-up is lighter than the stock engine. Adding 150 HP requires better braking. You can see the car is running around a track which means it's not a 1/4 mile car or just a daily driver. It's just strange to me where people place their priorities when doing these kinds of upgrades. I can see it has over 2 degrees camber front and rear which is either for looks or handling or both. If you're going to add 150HP and upgrade the suspension it only makes sense to upgrade the front brakes at the least. Either Brembo or Wildwood 2-4 pistons calipers and 13" rotors would be nice. Hell my stock 2004 Nissan Sentra SER Spec-V came with Brembo Calipers! My 2002 VW GTI 337 came with 13" Front Rotors and the same vented rear Rotors off the Audi TT Quattro. Neither car came with +200 HP. Anyone who argues the brakes on this car didn't need to be upgraded is a fool.
Corrado Soprano It's not a priority thing. The car is still in development/testing.Did you really think a tuner like JUN wouldn't upgrade the braking system ?
Corrado Soprano brakes won't determine stopping distance as much as stickier tires will. Big brakes will just prevent heatsoak/over heating on the track during extended use.
+Corrado Soprano You do realize that F1 cars use 13" wheels right? You do the math on how big their brakes must be. Brake size has nothing to do with how well brake systems perform, and most stock brakes are going to be good for just about anything the car can do unless you're running 13 hours of Suzuka or something. Good pads and tires, along with some fresh fluid will take you further than some off the shelf big brake kit will.

SideWays8Productions and only 300 hp
Camhin1 300hp is plenty, especially in light, nimble cars like the BRZ.
SideWays8Productions $70,000 for 300 hp, you can tune the sub engine for more.

daybreaK i was thinking the exact same thing. straight outta gt1 hahaha
yeah I was wondering where I knew the song from
I love this music. Lol.
Music and sound effects mirror a car video game. Without researching I'd guess from Gran Turismo, yep.
a high-rev small V8...love it
SubaruWRXfan brought me! What an amazing car, 11 thousand RPM redline!!!
Reminds me of the crazy sound of the old 240z, proper japanese.
Thats the sound they would have needet from the factory
ironic this is made in New Zealand
Wonderful machine! Credit goes to the engineer in New Zealand that developed this bolt in kit.
3UZFE It’s Beautiful, I always thought a 1uz would be perfect for this car but it isn’t a compact engine. This could be perfect.
馬鹿なことするよねぇ
大好き❤
i love that high rpm, V8 sound. You just need to fit a close ratio, sequential gearbox (transmission) to it.
No you don't, manual is so much more FUN and that's the whole point of cars unless you earn your living winning races
Classic Soundtrack
Got any info on the song?

Amazing....absolute dream car
Fantastic - this is a BRZ I would want to own!
They should build small V8 engines using two R1 cross plane engines. Should sound glorious.
What a great idea!
Fabulous. Pro tip: ditch the kitschy music. The song of this engine is music enough!
そうか。
2007年とかのF1と同じサイズのエンジンが乗ってると思うと、すごい物を作ろうとしてたんだなと思いますね。

Absolutely awesome
that's how the brz should of been

Is the funky exhaust design for back pressure? Why not make it an h-pipe exhaust for the purpose of less corners so early in the exhaust?

Sooo dope! Surprised it's not a sequential.
Hey suburu why won't you do something like this a flat 8?? Same displacement ish. Same revs.
Flat 8s have balance and engine shaking problems due to the layout.
But all a flat 8 is is a V8 with a 180° angle, and logically the net forces of shaking should be very low with all horizontically opposed engines.
Colin Bacon only if it's crossplane.
Andrés Alarcón for the balance part or the V8 part. Because there are many flat plane v8s
Because Subaru doesn't have the money to develop a new engine

You should know that their latest motor makes 400hp at 15k from a 2000cc. Their latest 3000cc makes 500hp at 12k
And start price is 50k usd
Wish they could sell that engine as an aftermarket
