*Thyroid* - iodine (weight gain all over)
*Liver* - dark leafy greens (fluid issue)
*Adrenal* - vitamin C reserve; cortisol situation (sagging belly); #1 reduce stress, #2 sleep, #3 eat protein, #4 potassium rich vegetables
*Ovary* - eat certain cruciferous vegetables to help balance estrogen (weight in the lower body); estrogen dominant problem: eat hormone free dairy and meats

I'm a strong believer in our health/weight being tied to hormones and our microbiome as opposed to the CICO model people cling to. You are the first doctor I've seen actually break down body type according to hormonal issues! Thank you so much for educating people on important, live-saving knowledge that other doctors are unable or unwilling to.

I really respect your knowledge on the Thyroid. I feel like a lot of doctors don't take it as a serious matter, and don't do much investigation beyond the initial levels found in a single blood test.

Yes Exactly.. Most GPS will Dispense Medication on Assumptions. Im a combo of Liver & Thyroid Body Type as my Fat starts from the middle of my chest , love handles & a Pot Belly so im going to go with the Liver type diet & lower protein intake. My Thyroid is normal. My Mother has a definite Thyroid Body Type so Genetically i will too.

I have Hashimoto’s but am an adrenal body type. I couldn’t lose any weight until I started taking Progesterone, doing intermittent fasting, and lowering my carbohydrate intake. I’ve lost about 15 lbs so far, but need to lose 20- 25 more. But now, I’m hopeful!!!!

Just so you know, you don't need much cortisol in the body for it to affect your weight. In the adrenal body type, the adrenals communicate with the thyroid to shut down the thyroid. The adrenals communicate with the liver to overproduce fat. There's an overproduction of sugar as well. The body also takes protein from the legs and stores it as fat around the organs. Blood tests won't show you this. It's important to reduce stress and rest more. Laugh at the milk that your kids spilt on the floor and stay calm. Otherwise your body will become it's own fat making machine. Keep exercise light and easy. Same with diet.

I'm definitely the adrenal body type! I have had a sagging belly since I had my baby 9 years ago! I also have PTSD from an abusive relationship. So, yes, lots of stress. Lots of long-term, sustained fight-or-flight response to everything in life.

I don't normally leave these kind of comments, but I'm the Ovarian body type. Interestingly, I've known that my diet needs to be like that from my own conclusions and how my body reacts/builds fat from certain types of foods. I'm actually dumb-founded how accurate this is.

Hi Dr. Berg, i just wanted to say thank you . I am so grateful to find you, if I didn’t I never would have made changes for my health. My obgyn and dermatologist both suggested for me to go on birth control to control my acne breakouts. I’ve been on it for 7 years now. After watching your videos, I’ve learned why most of my weight goes to my waist down, because of the over production of estrogen in my system. Today, I’m making changes, and it’s going to take time but i hope to make the changes to be healthier for my own body

I'm crying; because... I realize now I grew up in a very stressful environment; and could never figure out why I was a chunky little lady o.o ~ I had to move back in with family during covid and gained all the weight I lost when I lived independently...... Oooooof all those years of bullying about my weight; when I ate good food and excercized a lot....
Can we talk about this more regularly as a globe? Stress is the #1 killer....
And the stress of self hate; is a really tough mental illness to escape from.
    Thanks for the advice ♡

I cannot believe that I haven't come across your videos before! I have been sick for 9 years because of hypothyroidism and all I've ever been given is synthroid. Have never felt any better only worse. It has been like a snowball effect with health problems even removal of my gallbladder. Everything you are saying makes so much sense, not just this video, but especially the videos on hypothyroidism! My digestive problems, upper abdomen pain and shoulder pain and weight gain that I can't seem to do anything about. It never dawned on me before to check you tube for medical advice and I can't tell the doctors and specialists I've seen over the years and I have never heard any explanations such as yours. It's a shame because this disease has destroyed my life for the last 9 years. Because of your videos I now have some hope that I can get better. Thank you!

Go to do DC like Dr. Berg. They can easily test you for adrenal, liver, etc issues. Regular MD's do not test for such things. They look at TSH levels for the most part and throw you on a drug. Diet plays a huge role in healing.

I was an adrenal type and carrying at least 30 lbs. of excess fat for the first time in my life. Being a Mediterranean, ,African, Middle Eastern female, I do have larger bones and muscles than my Euro counterparts but I was always lean. Nothing worked to lose the fat until I eliminated ALL dairy earlier this year. The fat just melted off and I now have better energy and flexibility than I have in years. I had always exercised but just couldn't carrying around that fat. I am 69 years old and am going to start some tai chi or qi gong tomorrow. I did have some liver inflammation over the last year and a half but I saw a Traditional Chinese doctor and she fine tuned my diet. I am yang deficient so need warming foods. She encouraged only cooked vegs and little fruit, nothing served chilled. This has helped and I think I've lost even more of the fat weight. I had some acupuncture and tui na massage to sort of jump start thd process. I have no major health issues common to my age, only some mild allergy treated asthma which has responded favorably to a move to the desert and improved housing (I'm not in the US). I have been able to reduce Advair to once a day, down from twice. I am not claiming the non-dairy route as a magic bullet to weight loss, but only to state that one single food type may be a problem and finding then eliminating it may work. btw I am fine with small quantities of gluten, but our flour here is different then in the US, unless you use organic.

Dr. Berg, Is it possible to to have 2 body types? I feel like both the adrenal & thyroid fit me. I have symptoms of both. Fat all over & a sagging belly. I have poor sleeping habits, stressed out, my unbalanced hormones got my menstral bleeding going for months at a time & a lot of hairloss. I had started a strict low carb diet lost 35lbs but the sagging belly was still there. Disappointed, stressed out & depressed about how bad my hair loss has gotten I cheated on my diet & kept on cheating til I gained the weight back. *sighs* :(

I've been wondering, if you basically push to sleep right, drink enough water, eat 9 cups of veggies per day that includes 3 cups of kale, plus cut down on sugary drinks and dairy, will that be enough to overcome these body problems, regardless of which body type?

Dr. Berg - my hubby and I love your videos. We started your adrenals program last week. I am down 6 pounds, and my husband about 4. He and I have both had tremendous stress... Loss of family members, jobs (both of us), etc. But even though my body shape is not estrogen type, I have some estrogen symptoms. (I have been on synthroid since 25 yrs old, (now 50)). I would like to heal my thyroid and get off of synthroid entirely. Any suggestions? I did watch some of your thyroid and estrogen videos also. Any tips appreciated! Thanks so much! :-) Thanks for all the information you share. VERY helpful!

Adrenal. Which makes sense considering I have an anxiety disorder and have had a huge amount of stress over the years. Things aren't as stressful now, but I can't exactly stop the anxiety disorder. My heart beats >90 bpm at rest. I've been doing keto for a month now and and have noticeable fat loss to the face, legs and rib areas. Some inches lost on the belly, but it's still bigger than I would expect. Will it go down completely with this diet or do I need to meditate or something on top? I haven't had a flat belly my entire life and I would really like to achieve it.

I have the second mentioned body type. My fat gets stored all over my stomach and its always the hardest to loose weight. I also think its due to stress but i i do have a problem with my hypophysis/pituitary gland. My doctor said that or produces to much cortisol. Im not sure if there is a connection. Can it be so?

Hello Dr. Berg! I love watching your videos simply because of the way you explain the science behind every detail. Love it
I had a question for you. My body type is "ovary", what foods and drinks should i avoid? And if i would follow the ketogenic diet, again what foods and drinks would i take out of that diet? And last is there is anyway possible if you could suggest a diet plan to follow for my body type?
    Thanks 😊

Dr. Berg, I took your body type quiz and the results say that I am a pancreatic body type. I saw that your offered a kit which included electrolyte powder, nutritional yeast tablets and wheatgrass powder. I was considering ordering it until I learned that the electrolyte powder contains magnesium citrate. I have interstitial cystitis and cannot take magnesium citrate as it is extremely painful to my bladder. Are there other options I could consider? Thank you.

The Ovarian body type is the only one that really hits home for me, yet cruciferous plants hurt my stomach so badly it's agonizing. I can't eat any of them without getting painful bloating and gas that never passes, heart-burn and eventual constipation that lasts for days. I've tried to eat them for years but nothing ever changes and it's just getting more reactive. Not sure what to do at this point...

I'm the thyroid type & my gall bladder was removed. Recently I had a hysterectomy where my uterer was injured. Last month they repaired it, but currently still have a nephrostomy tube in my right kidney. Hopefully it'll be removed this month. I really want to get to a healthy weight but I'm disabled (bad back, hips, knees). Please help me find the right diet!

Years ago I had blood test to check my hormone levels because I was so tired all the time. I didn't want to take depression medication. The doctor found I was a little low on testosterone. There's a pharmacy that does the compound mixing but he would not prescribe for me. He gave me no reason. I still think it could have helped and couldn't have hurt to try it. I'm cancer-free after 19 years. I was given 3 months to live at that time. They were worried about eating soy which is changed since then. I don't eat meat but I do eat fish at times. Back to the compound that the pharmacies mix up 4 each individual's needs. What's your opinion on that?

Good points Dr. B. T4 is not always a solution even if hypothyroidism is the main problem. If one's body cannot convert T4 to T3 then you would need to take T3. There are tests to measure reverse T3 however, the numbers are confusing because one may have a normal to high level of T3 but still not losing weight or feeling any better. They may also have a reverse T3 level that does not seem high. For example, my T3 was 3000 and my reverse T3 was 300. That was apparently enough of an elevated reverse T3 to keep the weight on me. T4 will convert into reverse T3 so I stopped the T4 and got on T3 and the problem resolved.

What if you're a combination of two? I think I'm a combination of pot belly with a little pouch after having three kids and 68 years old but have always had fairly slim legs and regular arms though full upper arms and a small butt! I've been a fitness trainer and worked out with weights so I have pretty good muscularity in my legs and arms and still have a rather good bicep with a good cut at the top of my arms and a firm back. All my weight seems to land in my gut and my mid section and I've always been prone to a thick waist! I just beginning to address my leaky gut and Candida issue as well. I've done some yoga and have a stationary bike but can no longer walk great distances due to the fact that I have MS and have since my early 40s. It went into remission for years and I was walking long distance power walks into my 50s but since my mid 60s I haven't been able to do that anymore! Love your videos, very helpful! Thanks!
