We didn't know what we were getting into when we got to this recovery! Snowy and icy conditions caused a truck with a full trailer full of wood to crash down a ravine! Without the Rat Rod Wrecker's motor swap complete we had to use other resources. Will it work? Check it out!

Oh wait are you Mormon because if so I understand they don't matter
@rodney1818 Shat up fool
Yankum winch rings for the win!
Nice job Men.
Paul if you're going to replace Hunter please make sure the new guy carries a pocket knife before you hire him
No drama , no acting just figuring it out and doing it . Awesome
Him and Rory about the only one’s left. That don’t make it a huge drama show.
What’s wrong with drama? 😅
when its not fake or over exaggerated its fine, when its false like most channels its easy to tell and annoying@@donras564
agree, not interested in morr acting & drama
And the Kid already has a plan to get on with life! Flatbed and front clip make into a ranch truck!
I am impressed with the Taco. Pulling that dead weight around was pretty impressive. Tight turn, very little room--and around she came!!
Just wait till it's got super duties and a LS
on the turn around you could hear something binding/popping and not happy probably when they lost the front drive line.
@@iffykidmn8170yep U joint wasn't happy, and eventually gave up the ghost
I love my Tacoma. People always bug me that it isn't a real truck, but it's never lets me down.
I know this was just run of the mill job for you, but for an old man from the city this was absolutely amazing. You all never cease to impress me with everything you do. Hats off to all and please keep it up.
Someone did a good job tying that load down ! And it was a LOT of WORK ! Thanks for sharing !
Grayden cam is my new favorite lol..he had it all lol
He would rather be doing video games.
Hat’s off to Paul and the crew! What a recovery!
Ill voice the same things. No drama, great recovery, honest content and no acting. Grader is so funny “entertaining the camera”! The FJ is a beast!!!
Super cool seeing another demo of multi-part pulling with the Yankum setup. Alan and the crew there have really put some quality gear out. Fantastic work fellas.
Great team effort. Gotta say those guys were pretty lucky not getting injured. Love Paul's vision and leadership in what must have been a long tedious process.
He said they were going extremely slow lmao
Great video guys! Love it... no b.s. no fake drama just a bunch of people getting stuff done! 👍
Paul, Matt, and Robby all gave us truck recoveries today. What a great morning!
Why does that child not have a seat belt on!!? Geezus!
@kimfields1552 why do you care so much?we all did fine for decades without them and on the back snowy roads ain't noone wearing one..go stay inside
@@kimfields1552just shut up. So tired of online Karens
That was a good one. If Michelle is the editor, she does a mighty fine job!!
Our other editor, PJ, created this vid! We have some seriously talented folks who work for us!👍🏻
@@FabRats Is that code for Michelle was at home pounding twinkies? LOL That dang Merlin!!
@@FabRatsno doubt about that, everything about this episode was professional.
I like when Paul tells these guys to work. So many times I’m watching the guys watch Paul work . He’s earned the boss role cuz of his excellent work ethic.
Great interview skills, Hunter. You asked all the questions that I was curious about.
More of that please. I always want to know what they were thinking.
Amazing recovery! Hunter, you did a really good job interviewing the two you were in the accident. I am glad everyone made it out safely.
Good Morning Paul and Crew! Hope You all are doing well! I find myself constantly and consistently Awaiting the next video to drop, I smash that like button before the video even starts because I've never seen one yet that wasn't rad. I love Paul's laid back attitude, and positivity and way he keeps a level head no matter the situation. I love seeing how good of a father, teacher and mentor is to his kids and has always encouraged them to use his tools and build their own stuff like the Derby Mowers, the Go carts and Dirt bikes and now their cars and trucks as they're old enough to drive. my dad was a great teacher to me with 2strokes and Old trucks but I was always scared shitless to use his tools when he wasn't there, not even sure why,he wasn't a mean dad or anything I think it was just me feeling like I was trying to be responsible and respectful, but I honestly wish I had wrenched on more as a little kid by myself, that's one of the best ways to learn hands on, trial and error, see what works and what doesn't, how something comes apart (and more importantly back together 😂) your kids are gonna all be super capable and self sufficient which is what every parent could hope to instill in the youth they are the future
Thank you for the kind words! It means a lot!
The new awning looks like it did a good job 🙂 nice drone footage 🙂 The FJ is a monster ... the Tacoma is no slouch too...🙂 The truck owner has a GREAT attitude... flatbed, bumper grill, hood... a ranch truck etc...🙂 awesome use of applied science/engineering and wonderful machines to complete the recovery... what a recovery... Team Fab Rats for the WIN!
I concur…for what it’s worth.!
Great video -what an awesome recovery job. imagine the guys in that truck had to change their drawers after going over the edge! Grayden really brings a different (and fun) perspective to the videography 😊😊
I think my cheeks woulda taken a bite outta the seat cover going over luckily they came out only shook up
What a recovery! Watching your video gave me all the winter adventure I want! Great job!!
Who needs a snow cat when you have the FJ I gotta admit that was 1 HELL of a recovery
That's what you call a danger ride for sure. XJ never disappoints.
You'll find that the pulley rings like you're using here with no bearings act as a friction device under heavy load, and will lower your pulling efficiency a bunch! They work ok under normal conditions but instead of doubling you might only get 1.4 times the winch rating.
I've done a similar winch-out like above before, but used a tree above the road with a pulley uphill in-line with the slope below the road, tow line through it to each car and just drove the winchin car downhill so the car that needed hauling went up like a lift! no need to rely on the winch power, just a long and strong tow line to the two vehicles.
Can't imagine how much tougher it would have been in the cold and snow like this, though! hardly any traction. Great job mate
I been a tree climber ropeing and rigging for 28 years now and that ring is junk causing more friction than it's worth you could hear it on the video. Needs a good old-fashioned snatch block.💪
@@sawmillingGarry yep I do a lot of height safety work and all I could see there was a friction device, not a pulley! Snatch blocks with good bearings all the way! will make your nylon winch ropes and winch motors last longer, too
That was a crazy recovery. You guys made it look easy without your best vehicle. The wrecker and Ratback would have been perfect for this job. I hope you guys have warmed up after that one.
That was impressive, everyone did great. The Fab Rats crew got everything up on the road, the FJ is a beast, Harbor Freight 12,000 lb. winches rock, snow is fun to play in (as long as you look at it that way), that truck is salvageable and it'll live and drive another day, no one got hurt in the accident or in the making of this movie. Perfect, really.
A couple of minutes with the replacement Hunter swinging the camera and I realize what a great and steady job OG Hunter does. No vomit cam from the OG. Thx dude!
Awesome recovery! It is amazing what you can do with minimal tools, a lot of skill and patience. Love it.
Great recovery! Looked pretty tough, but know how got it out!!
Those boys are lucky nobody got hurt going over the hill. Great job getting them out.
That was an incredible recovery, GREAT job.
Awesome recovery in great winter scenery. Liked the trailer-to-trailer transfer at the end.
Amazing recovery, stay warm (-4 here).
Those young men had a catastrophe problem happen and already have a plan in place,Thats impressive.
Good morning everyone and thumbs UP to Fab Rats!👍
tough recovery , poor conditions...... Well Done, Guys.
Quick question for the Fabulous Rats! - how long did that pull take? From when you got on site to when you started rolling the convoy? Hell of a nice job, looked like to me!
We left our shop at 9 and we weren’t home til around 5. 3 hours of drive time. It was a long cold day!😅
Thanks for the reply! For sure a long day!! Keep up the great work!@@FabRats
Glad you guys made it home safely. Quite the rescue!
THE BEST FAB RATS EVER!
That Grader gonna be a great recoovery specialist! GREAT JOB GUYS ! KEEP ON KEEPN' ON
As Paul would say “ we got it handled “ nice job! The FJ is just a beast, love it.
WOW! What a GREAT episode with such BEAUTIFUL scenery!
You guys really know how to do a recovery. That’s a skill level 10. Thank you for the cool videos.
Great job on using the winches & pulleys - fantastic recovery !!!
Wicked recovery. Well done grader
That square body was CLEAN!
Awesome recovery! Thanks for taking us along!
Great team work, Fab Rats to the rescue!
You guys rock!
Thanks for sharing your adventures.
A great video. Some tough equipment and skilled driving. Loved the drone scenes.
That’s was one hell of a ride into the woods, nice recovery
Poor truck is probably totaled
Does it have to be said how awesome Grayden is?
Grayden, you are awesome . . .
It's awesome watching you guys do recoveries in the snow and mud. Very entertaining. Hope y'all have a great weekend
Great video. Beautiful scenery and background music. The little guy was cracking me up
Sean is funny if you don't stick a camera up his nose and ask what's he doing. I like the question he asked about how are you feeling after your Mikki D breakfast.
Did Hunter fly the drone for the overhead footage? It was a great video worthy of an EMMY.
I had a feeling that something wasn't right when I could hear the weird clicking sounds toward the end of the rescue using the Tacoma to turn the dead truck.
Couple good kids trying to do good. Learning life lessons. Thanks to these two, I am a fan!
Love how Grayden is just sitting in the fj on side of the hill calmly eating his chips
That truck probably started if he had actually cycled the key and let the glow plugs do their job instead of just cranking away at it. 😑
It did start but gelled up on them and died 5:22
Good work team. No drama, just honest hard work. No need to make anyone look bad, it's just dealing with stuff happening.
Your little guy is getting big it's nice to see him hanging with Dad on these adventures very cool to have such a dad who is so cool to be with for him
That was Impressive, I had my doubts! The FJ, Ropes and winches, A++++++
I’m a Canadian. I’d kill to move down there and be free like you guys.
Great job, guys. You can do so much with small trucks. It is amazing.
As soon as you guys said convoy I knew what needed to go there and you guys nailed it. Excellent work on the recovery!
Hunter, good on you for offering to miss out on all the “fun” so you could capture all of the action for us. 😂
You did also help a couple of times while continuing to film. Even right at the end pushing /rolling the tie onto the trailer while still keeping the camera rolling with your left hand.
High 5 ✋🏼
Very nice recovery. Team Fab Rats are an Awesome team.
The ol' fj did an impressive job of climbing out of that hole.
The symphony of winch pulling was impressive.
Great job. Love the teamwork & friendships.
I am so impressed with the capabilities of your builds and your knowledge of roping combinations that got the truck out!
Casey LaDelle showed us how to use two Yankum Recovery blocks to double the doubled pulling force. It lessens the stress on the pulling load on the winch but increases the pulling time.
A Lawn tractor or a go-cart can drag a full-sized truck up a hill with the right amount of doubling.
Impressive recovery, Paul. Tools and know how always win the day.
I was watching alot durning the golden nugget build .and the tow truck build . its been a while since i watched a vid and wow !!!! video, music , camera work , drone shots its 80% better and morr enjoyable to watch !!! Good job editors!!!!!
The best recovery I have seen in awhile! Great work fellas!
Love the snow falling from the trees. Nice special effects lol, nice work on moving that whole truck and loaded trailer. Amazing. Nice work all the way thru.
Good job, fellas! That is a handsome square body!
That 2as just frigging awesome !!!!!!!!!!
Nicely done! You also showed a real world difficult case of using the ring rigging and dealing with the knots and takeouts of extensions. Sweet.
My Ram, when really cold, needs to go through several preheat glow plug cycles before it will start. There must be a certain base heat in the cylinders before the self combustion cycle will work. I wouldn’t have believed that until I experienced it with my own Cummins.
Love how you involve the kids yet still give them safety guidance.
That rigging was Rory Irish approved! Great job Paul. I don't think many appreciate the understanding of physics one must have in order to rig appropriately and safely on a job as sketchy as this.
Those thorn bushes are lovingly nicknamed wait a minute bushes
Prolly one of youre best recovery vids paul!
Those two guys are Tuff. Walked 2 miles in that cold...whew. they called the right people
That guys got one sweet squarebody 😎 I'd be proud of that thing
Amazing work fellas! That was a big job well done!
I loved watching the Tacoma man handle that big ol Chevy on the way out .
Been watching for a few years now and have to say this was a great one to watch! 😊 good job as always! Gotta give Michelle and hunter kudos as well!
Nice to see the Tacoma earning it keep again One Project done and dusted
Very nice to see young Mr Cox doing recoveries
One Hell Of A Good Job Guys!!! That FJ is one tough rig!! Again Great Job Guys!!!
#FabRats4TheWin
That was fun to watch.
Awesome work team!
I’m impressed they had galoshes on!
what an amazing recovery! that was a lot of work you guys did!
That went way better, than I thought it would.
That was a clean recovery. The Yoda took a beating on that recovery. Also, glad the kid had a nice square body as a backup. That was a gorgeous truck.
wow great recovery. need to get the wood truck out and get some wood as payment. taco needs so love
Wow what a great day out. Awesome work team. Those Yankum Rings are the Shiz!!
Love your vision of this recovery! Not many people would just drive down there like that!!
anybody else notice how bad that bedside was rotted out under the missing rear fender flare? thanks gm for all of your designers,,we apreciate all of your hard work and thought that you put into your builds for us! lol,,,,,
Hope those two stay friends. Wrecking borrows stuff can be tough on a friendship.
Great recovery Paul and the rest of the FabRats crew drone shot was kool Hunter. Great to have Headsets to communicate. Matt and Robby uses the hand held push button to talk. Great video 🤙😎
Best channel on TH-cam! Down to earth people, helping people..
I cant believe you're doing this with such light vehicles. Ever think about building mounts to frame with long spikes to drive into the ground for anchor?? Like outriggers. Dandahermit
