Thanks , it definitely was a honest review. Im a Yamaha believer but Im also not going to lie if there is a issue. If you watch any of my videos we are always bantering each other about the brands we ride though..lol
Thanks for the review Don! I know you say you’re not a professional at this, and do it for fun, but I think you do a great job! I like that you keep it honest and fun. Keep it up! Merry Christmas!
Well thank you very much ! I great appreciate hearing this . We all banter each other about the different brands that we ride , yes im a Yamaha guy but im still honest when it comes to what i think of my Yamaha's. All brands have there pro's and con's in my opinion. Thanks again for the compliment on my videos and Merry Christmas to you aswell John !
So other than the axle issue it has been great. Excellent, good to know. I have the 2022 Ranger which I have had no issues with and have been using for plowing my hundred foot long driveway and 2 car parking spots and a big bus parking spot as well using a 72" plow. I have the same mirrors as you (also from amazon). Thanks for sharing the videos and the update on the machine. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
yes thats the only issue iv had. Absolutely love the machine. I had the same axle issue with my CanAm Maverick XXC before I sold it aswell actually. It had 2700 kms on it though when CanAm replaced those axles but a friend had the same machine with only 700 kms on it and had his replaced. My thinking is alot of these axles all come from the same factory in China most likely. Even the Super atv Rhino 2.0 axles say made in China right on the box although the Rhino axles are slightly heavier material.
@@DonsATVAdventures I would not doubt for a minute they were all manufactured by same factory. That is the downside with mass production. I am a retired mechanic and have seen "runs" of parts that when you check the build dates they would be within a short time frame and sequential. Look forward to seeing more trail riding in the spring. I use my Ranger for mostly work (plowing, hauling wood out of the bush, etc) but I like to ride trails on the weekends and use it for hunting too.
Commenting while watching on the TV. Your rubbermaid box got a lift kit. 😆 also had tbise same mirrors. Now i got almost same but 4x10inches. Just bigger
Can Am Maverick sport Xxc 1000r!!! Lol. Merry Christmas to you and your family Don. I'm hoping that 2023 brings a lot more rides with you and your group. And I mean a lot more!!! 🍻✌️
Nice review Don! I do like the looks of that Yamaha. I liked how high you sit in it, I will have to try out the ride next year. I've only ever rode mine and don't know anything different.
absolutely Roland your more than welcome to try it out anytime ! Ya I really enjoy the seating position myself. I remember watching your video where you mentioned you raised your seat but in the Rmax the sight lines are perfect i think
Nice video Don. I have a Yamaha X2 850 cc. It is a 2019. I had a belt break when I was up in Barrys Bay in November. 2020 I bought the extra warranty for 3 years. Lucky, I had a Honda SxS tow me back to the trailer. I loaded onto trailer and took it to the Peterborough Yamaha dealer. I do not use my SxS in the winter, so I thought if I left it with them over the winter, it would be ready by April to pick up. I was wrong. It was late May by the time I got it back. This was during the COVID-19 era, so the parts situation was slow for all manufacturers. After many calls to Yamaha I finally got my X2 back, but have now gone to another Yamaha dealer. Yamaha has this 10 year warranty on their drive belts, BUT it only applies to vehicles in the US. Yamaha did pay for all the repair work, but the 5 month wait very disappointing.
actually the belt warranty is in Canada now. My 19 Grizzly doesn't have the 10 year belt warranty even though the US does but when i bought my 2022 Rmax my dealer told me that the 10 year belt warranty is now in Canada aswell. I use Motosports of Trenton
Thank you. Do you happen to remember the part number for the axels that fixed your issue from yamaha. Just trying to make sure i fix the problem and not just put a bandaid on it.
Is that island mudslingers? If so it looks like the a-arms were beefed up since then...mine is the rmax4 and it's totally different design. Looks solid.
Yamaha playing dumb but at least you got your axles. Great review. I am searching high and low for the perfect sxs and for me I just can’t find it. It seems like they all have issues. When paying 25-35 grand for a new machine one would think you could just turn the key and go but that’s not the case it seems. The Kawasaki Teryx4 was one that I looked at but man they are loud in the cab with a windshield and doors. That Rmax4 is nice put pretty pricey and not sure if the dump box dumps or not??
Yes on the Rmax 2 the box dumps. Only issue iv had was the axle issue and i have over 3000 kms on the new axles with zero issues. Not all Rmax's even had that issue . It seemed like they must of gotten a bad batch or something although i had both axles replaced in my CanAm Maverick sport xxc aswell when i had it for the same issue as did a friend with his xxc so that makes me think it was a issue with manufacturing during covid times possibly.
Hard finding a place to mount a license plate on the R MAX and X2 I put mine on my TAILGATE with rib nuts on it so I can bolt it on and take off whenever I need to
Hey Don. I really like your videos and value your opinion. I am "torn" between the Honda Pioneer 1000 and the RMAX. I know the RMAX would walk away from the Pioneer on most trails, but I would probably use my vehicle 60% on the farm and 40% trails. I also worry the RMAX is too loud. What advice can you give me? Thank you!
hi Kurt, i wouldn't consider the Rmax loud at all to be honest. You cant go wrong with a Honda either (yes i just said that..lol..dont tell the others..lol) . Honda is a bullet proof machine. I know you wouldn't be disappointed in the Rmax though either . A friend of mine use to have a Pioneer and sold it to buy a 21 Rmax actually and he uses it for trail riding aswell as other chores around his property.
Don, where about are you located in Canada? I in joy your videos very much. I live in northern N.H. And have the ride the wilds here.Have Merry Christmas to you and your family
Hi Bob , im in Ontario Canada on the shores of Lake Ontario almost directly across the lake from Rochester NY . We mainly ride about a hour or so north of where I live . Have you ever been up to Ontario ? I hear New Hampshire has some nice trails ?
I have the same year and model, except I have the four seater. Having the same problem with the axles clunking and I’m going to take it into the dealer. I have a five year warranty, so hopefully that’ll cover me until I get some thing else down the road. Just curious with all the reflectors on the machine is that something that’s required in Canada?
they should cover the axles , and after warranty replaced mine i never had another issue with them . As for the lights no its not required in Canada but Auxbeam sent them to me so i installed them and i lead most of the rides so they are handy to warn people if we have any issues.
I believe if I remember correctly I changed my left axle first . Although when I had my canam xxc when I turned right it was clicking and it ended up being the left axle making the noise though.
Hi Don, new sub here. Why did you switch from Can Am XXC to RMax? Did you consider the Can Am Commander? I am looking at all three of those machines. What sold you on the RMax vs others?
Hi , iv always been a believer in the Yamaha durability and reliability to be completely honest. There wasn't anything necessarily bad about the xxc . One thing i also like with the Yamaha over the canam is the more upright seating position and there is more room in the cab compared to the CanAm's.
@@DonsATVAdventures Thank Don. Spot on. That exactly my issue with Can Am. Interior space is lacking. I love how quite they are. Great motor and 4x4 system. I had a Yamaha Wolverine 850. Nice but suspension wasn’t the best. Really like the RMAX. My wife and I are sight seers. Just want a smooth, quiet and roomy trail buggy. We stay out of the mud and off big rocks so RMAX may a bit of over kill. How is the RMAX for engine heat on warm day. The 850 got very hot inside.
@davidrunk1980 i dont find the Rmax hot at all , now that being said I use a windshield during the summer . The new Commander is slightly quieter than the Rmax but as for the suspension in my opinion stock to stock the Rmax suspension is alot plusher rider . I had 2 friends with xxc's drive my Rmax Last summer and even they said the same . If you just put sight seeing you will definitely like the seating position alot better than the canam aswell and the wider cab makes its more comfortable too
