Good job. Thanks for producing this video. My father brought home a .177 cal. break barrel springer of unknown manufacture from Germany post WW2. It’s what I learned to shoot on as a boy. I used it for years and eventually graduated to his .22 rifle and never looked back. Now almost 60 years later, I am back in the break barrel springer business again with GAMO’s Swarm Fusion 10x gen3i. This, along with modern pellet design should be plenty good enough to keep squirrels out of the berry patch.
I have a older Gamo Big Cat 1200. It's still going. My biggest problem is the loud report. It's 177cal and sounds similar to a 22 long rifle. But these newer quiet ones are awesome. I agree with some people posting comments. Shoot 2 tins of pellets first. Once it breaks in. I think you'll be pleased. Also fit a decent scope. A Hawk Vantage with quality rings makes all the difference. 👍 As for leveling the scope. None is needed. Try the flashlight through the scope aligned with a plumb line. Mount a level on the scope that's true to the plumb line and crosshairs. If the level is held true, the rifle shoots straight everytime, at any distance. A guy did a video on this shooting 800yards with the rifle severely canted. As long as the level is centered. It's bullseye everytime. 🎯 This was an excellent video explaining the characteristics of spring guns. Excellent accuracy.
I simply love your videos. I've been shooting a 24 years old Gamo Hunter BZ-30 break barrel rifle (equivalent to modern magnum) and even though I shoot relatively well, there were a lot of things I wasn't doing well and I realized that after watching your videos. Sometimes we think that as we've been shooting for many years we've mastered all the techniques and after all we still have so much to learn. Thanks for making me a better shooter. Your comment just made my day! This is why I continue to make content. It’s a constant uphill battle, but when things connect and people get something out of it, that makes it worth it. Cheers AGW
I'm giving away all of my air rifles except for my GAMO Gen. 3 Magnum , my Air Force TalonP , and my Umarex Hammer . I love my GAMO . It's a great looking rifle .
I just bought a gen 3 I . Thank you for this video, I learned alot from you. I'm excited to sight in at 15 yards, and get consistent. Thanks for the info
I think break barrel air rifles will always have a place. It's nice to have a rifle capable of taking small game that will simply work every time because there's very little that can break, no pun intended. That's why I picked a single shot magnum for maximum reliability and It also came with very nice fiber optic iron sights. Great rifles whichever you pick.
Rick, a great informative video. My son has one hand and when he shoots my springer with his shooting stick he has issues. Probably due to the fact that I sighted it in and the gun movement he experiences is totally different. Thanks, that explains a lot.
Rick Great video. I wouldn't have found your channel except I ran into two problems. I bought a refurbished Swarm Magnum 3i as my first air rifle and most of the manuals were missing. The first problem I encountered was I couldn't mount the scope. I finally figured out that the hole on the barrel was too small to accept the scope locking pin so the attaching mechanism wouldn't lock down on the rail. I finally figured that out but it took a while since everything is black. I drilled out the hole and the scope laid flat to lock it down. The second problem I ran into was loading the cartridge. I finally got it once I realized I was holding the cartridge upside down.
Great instruction. You have a nice, easy, patient "my favorite teacher" way. I just got a Swarm Fusion 10X Gen 3i 2 days ago. Little less ooomph, but same gun. Actually, embarrassingly, I thought I was getting the Magnum in the store in southern NH. Was priced like that. It's alright. I'm hoping the 1300 FPS .177 is a little quieter for sneaky pest thinning in my yard. I'm in Mass, and it's impossible to just hit the Amazon ship button and get an air gun in mail order. And I didn't feel like giving MA DOR sales tax at my local Cabelas. I like you prefer my scope slid back towards my eye so there's no encroaching black, diminishing the aperture. Had to take the ring tops and 8 torx screws all the way off as there was sticky tape underneath. But that gummy tape adhesive helped when rotating in the scope's vertical reticle when shouldered. The Gamo scope instructions suck for mounting. Thank you for this! I learned to shoot on a 1980 Sheridan Blue Streak pump .20 cal pellet gun. Man was that deadly. One question for you or anyone: I took off one of the scope base's rail halves. The plate with the 3 torx head screws on the side. The other half had 2 fine black springs inset in the outside screw holes. Was there a 3rd fine black spring in the middle hole? Couldn't find it if there was. - Thanks!
Thank you for this information! I am an old guy but I am new to these air rifles. These things are NOT the tool I grew up with. I bought a Gammo 22 Cal. Swarm Hornet. I am sighting it in today. Thanks again. Rev
Nice done sir. I shoot always with a .177 Gamo 24 joule (Black Bear) And I want to speed it up until the pellet break thrue the soundbarrier wave and yes ... sometimes it works. On 80 meters the pellet slams a little hole in a plastik old barrel. I like the sound so much. On 20 m it's very accurate adjusted. I'm a kind of addick to it and my wife may not know that 😁
Thank you for a very helpful and well explained demonstration. Nice weapon straight out the box too. Consequently I have subscribed and look forward to more of your videos. Best wishes from Birmingham in the English Midlands.
Impressed with how you make the Gamo Mag in .22 and .177 look like a tack driver. Since the only Gamo I have ever owned has been the Gamo Accu .22 fixed barrel. And it was extremely accurate. Not a powerhouse I believe it shot 14.3s around 660fps but due to the fixed barrel and mid power, it was no way near as hold sensitive as my more powerful Hatsans and even some of my vintage Beeman imports. Ironically, the Accu .22 became my go to gun for backyard varmint control. It's mild power did just fine on up to woodchuck sized animals out to a max of 40 yards. Yes it wasn't a flat shooter, but after learning my mil dot holds out to that range it was superb. Anyways, short story long, it is hard to find an economic fixed barrel anymore and seeing the potential at least of that Gamo Mag, I'm thinking about maybe getting one. I just know that over time breakers have wear and tear and even the highest quality ones barrel lockup tends to not lockup like it used to causing accuracy issues. Does the Gamo Mag gen 3 have a steel breech? Or is it plastic/plastic lined? And does it have a screw that tighten up the pivot point? A Lot of breakers now have their barrels lined in plastic which is not acceptable to me, they will wear faster, no two ways around it...
Hey there. The breech is polymer. Going back 5 or 6 years, they has some issues with lockup. They have solved that and I’ve not had any issues with the newer stuff. And, if you do develop an issue, their service department will take care of it. If it’s under warranty then it’s no charge (other than shipping it to them) and if it’s out of warranty, Gamo offers a flat rate service rebuild and repair. So, you are covered either way. As for the Accu line. I wish they still had that model available. I have a .177 and .22 still kicking around somewhere. I need to pull those out and do a video on them. I loved my .22 for hunting and pesting. Cheers AGW P.S. GamoUSA has some old school models with steel breech if you want to go that route. Look at the new Gamo Hunter Extreme Pro. Awesome gun.
You look great, Rick ! I didn't know there was a gen 3 out because I've moved on to PCP's, but I still like to keep current of what's out there, plus the Gamo break barrel holds a soft spot in my heart as it was my first rifle.
I think open sights are a must have, even if you mount a scope. Ang agree with you, break barrel rifle have always the same performance, high pressure air rifle start to lose power after 15 or so rounds and you need an entire equipment to reload it.
Very good information, very well presented. I'm getting ready to mount my first air gun scope on my Gamo Swarm Fusion .. . . and this information will be of great help. Thanks!
always clean the barrel and shoot 50 shots before clicking the scope , a adjustable mount is also good on a springer to keep the inside of the scope in optical centre and straight
I used to do that.. but the newer guns are not nearly as picky with the barrels. At least not the Gamo Guns.. maybe some of the asian imports that come through full of rust and grease, but the Gamo seems to be fine without needing to clean the barrel out of the gate. I've found that just getting out and shooting a tin of pellets really get's the job done. You can see in this video by the time I got to the last 5 shot group we were down to under a dime. You all saw ALL the shots taken in this gun as they were all on video. The new guns are NOTthe way the old guns used to be. Cheers AGW
I never "clean" my barrels. Shooting pellets will clean the barrel better than aything else. Never had a problem and they are always accurate, no power loss.
Regarding dry firing, Gamo claims before any product is released, ten units must survive being dry fired 10k times each. Must not be too bad for newer models
Got so excited when I got mine, I forgot about tightning the top rings! Really awesome video, after about 1000 pellets I gotta say that I love my Gamo Pro. (Stock scope still alive and kicking as well) Greetings from Holland
The Gamo site has a scope mount video showing a step you missed. After mounting the scope and mount to the recoil dampener, they removed the scope (the reason the top screws are loose), and snugged up the locking pin. They then returned the scope and tightened everything up. The parallax setting on that scope is 25 yards. Note Gen 3i mags only work with Gen 3i receivers marked with the green release.
Hey there. The stop pin on all these is dropped more than low enough. Generally speaking they are mounted pretty square. If you don't need to remove the top rings and add another layer of complexity to the setup, then there's certainly no need to do that. However, if you need to move the scope back or straighten it anyway and want to "tighten up" the stop pin, you certainly can at that time. Cheers AGW
These break barrels are extremely accurate. I mean pellet on pellet at 20 yards. Literally. You will have to use a good scope with AO and more importantly a good mount. Diana Bullseye at least. You also have to lighten the trigger by installing a longer screw but you have to know what you are doing because this can be very dangerous. Finally you have to find the proper pellets by trial and error. These break barrels will make you a better shooter. Gamo scopes are junk. You can see that windage adjustment affects elevation and vice versa. They are blurry at 15 yards and they will break.
yeah i have 5 igt gamo break barrels right now. The two magnums, between them, have by now utterly devastated/destroyed/rendered totally defunct, a grand total of 4 scopes now. I have since outfitted the magnums with fixed mag scopes rather than the variable mag ones that the recoil keeps tearing to pieces. so far so good, but if the magnum destroys even a fixed scope then i might be in a pickle with that rifle
@@csmith6483 yeah…. That’s simply not needed for airguns in this class. If you were setting up a PCP for competitive 100m bench rest then maybe, but for 25 to 35 yards in the backyard, save yourself the headache get out there and have some fun. Cheers AGW
Watch that mod. You are reducing the seer engagement and the gun could fire if dropped hard if you over adjust. You are better off learning the factory trigger vs going the “longer screw” method. It’s not a new mod. We did the same thing 12 years ago with the old Gamo and Crosman guns. It can be dangerous. Cheers AGW
@Expert Airgun Reviews / AirgunWeb / AirgunWebTV I am aware. Thank you for letting others know. But i found this gun is very accurate once you lighten that trigger. There's multiple schools of thought on how to hold a break barrel due to its double recoil. But this gun is on another level of magnitude when it comes to recoil. And after trying every holding move in the karma sutra on this beast the only thing that tamed that recoil was lightning the trigger. So there's two ways to make it safe. You can either cut the new sear screw so it's all the way in at the trigger weight you prefer. Which stops the screw from creeping futher and further in and which may cause accidental discharge. Or you can use blue locktite and add double nuts with lock washers 😉 Also the pump really is quite hard to do. It gets a little easier after about a tin through the gun.

When you attached the scope, please tell me the name of the "tool kit" you used and where to get one. I really liked the t-handle and the way the handle all the bits fit into the holder. Thanks very much & I hope you have time to answer my question.

Thanks for a great video, I have a new Gamo swarm magnum Gen3i .22 arriving tomorrow, looking forward to it as my Ruger Black Hawk .177 broke last week. My only comment is wouldn’t you first clean the barrel to remove any possible oil or grease that may be there from shipping to prevent any potential rust from happening.?? Thanks for the very good video Just getting back into break barrels. Got a Gamo Varmint had to get a better scope and the trigger is one of the worst I have every used. Ordered a Gamo Replay 10X Magnum IGT Gen2 .22 CAL hope the trigger and scope are much better. With the Varmint I can get 1/2" to 3/4 " groups but with that trigger it is very hard, and did switch to a better scope but still not the best it is a Tasco Air 3-9X40 with focus 10 to 100 yards. But shooting dead center for 5 targets one day and the next high right re sight and again shooting dead center 5 shot groups and 5 targets, then yester day shooting all over the place 1" and 2" groups at 15 yards. and again high right, just put it away and am going to try again to day and see what happens, and work on my hold and hope better but with that trigger have to really work on it to get good groups. When my new one comes will then see if there is any thing I can do with the trigger on the varmint. I also find the Varmint very loud, from the spring, and for some reason seemed to be louder yester day. Again thanks for the Video will work on my hold and do my best with that trigger, would be nice to see how to make it work better using a bad trigger, any help on that would be great.
I know you probably know this but for the viewer if after you took your 1st shot. If you just held Bullseye and looked through the scope and crank that top turret all the way up to your shot that it impacted on the paper. That would put you on bull's eye within about 1or2 shots
Great Video, very useful information, would you mind sharing what tool (bit set) are you using to mount/ adjust the scope? I've been looking for something like that for a while!
Taking a new gun and in fewer than twenty attempts grouping those last five, well I'm impressed. I realize this isn't a review, but what's a quick opinion of the gun?
The Gamo Swarm Magnums have been frankly pretty awesome for a while. They are light guns so technique becomes even more important. Once you get the hang of it however, it’s hard to put it down. Cheers AGW
Hey Rick, I recently up another of my favorite break barrel scopes. A nos pre-2012 centerpoint 4-16x40 adventure class, which is my understanding was made for crosman by leapers back then. And it made me curious about not hearing about leapers on AGW since before you moved to TX. If it's ok to talk to, is that kind of like the Hatsan thing went? Current opinion of their stuff in general?
A little disappointed they removed the open sights. I prefer to run mine without a scope when I can. I don't think you need a scope for these ranges. My Ruger redhawk I can hit anything it has open sights it came with a scope I just have it in a drawer. It has a sling to if Gamo would put the sling on there rifles it would be awesome. The old gen 1 I got has a little metal nob that stick's down yeah he's showing it now. The mag is different than the old gen 1 mag as well. I'm just happy the scope was set perfect I don't like messing with the scope.
Is it recommended to use gamo pellets only or can you use others as well? I know it says itll void warranty and what not but idk if its just a marketing thing to get people to buy more of their products. Thank you!

But these newer quiet ones are awesome. I agree with some people posting comments. Shoot 2 tins of pellets first. Once it breaks in. I think you'll be pleased. Also fit a decent scope. A Hawk Vantage with quality rings makes all the difference. 👍
As for leveling the scope. 🎯
This was an excellent video explaining the characteristics of spring guns. Excellent accuracy.
use heavy pellets to avoid the sonic crack
As a beginner, this video was incredibly informative. Especially when it came to a few scope mounting techniques and aiming.
Thank you!

I'm giving away all of my air rifles except for my GAMO Gen. 3 Magnum , my Air Force TalonP , and my Umarex Hammer . I love my GAMO . It's a great looking rifle .
Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for to get going. I really appreciate you taking the time to go through the set up.
Rick
Great video.
- Thanks!
Love mine. Deadly accurate with the HN Hornets after ab 150rd
Add my thanks to all the others. Followed your instructions and got everything together and calibrated right with 3 shots!!!
AWESOME!!

Great video Rick. Good information.

Long video but packed with useful information, not fluff.
Great video, I started at 25-30yrds and it's literally all about the pellet
I think open sights are a must have, even if you mount a scope. Ang agree with you, break barrel rifle have always the same performance, high pressure air rifle start to lose power after 15 or so rounds and you need an entire equipment to reload it.
Hahaha that was me "Johnny Sniper day one" this video has helped me a lot.

Very useful basic information. I needed to see it . I just bought the same rifle- thanks so much!
thank you i needed to learn the scope adjustment things much help
always clean the barrel and shoot 50 shots before clicking the scope , a adjustable mount is also good on a springer to keep the inside of the scope in optical centre and straight
Cheers
AGW
I never "clean" my barrels. Shooting pellets will clean the barrel better than aything else. Never had a problem and they are always accurate, no power loss.
5 minutes worth of Info in 43 minutes! This guy is frikin EPIC!!!
Appreciate your professional approach, thank you.
Regarding dry firing, Gamo claims before any product is released, ten units must survive being dry fired 10k times each. Must not be too bad for newer models
no open sights 😞 so disappointing for me !
Well, the magnum Gen2 have open sight... it's the same🤷♂️ only difference is This gen3i doesn't have open sight😆
Especially since they are so hard on scopes

Got so excited when I got mine, I forgot about tightning the top rings! Really awesome video, after about 1000 pellets I gotta say that I love my Gamo Pro. (Stock scope still alive and kicking as well) Greetings from Holland
best teacher in world
The Gamo site has a scope mount video showing a step you missed.

I would suggest an inch pounds torque wrench when installing a scope.
Another suggestion would be to have the scope rings lapped!
@@csmith6483 yeah…. That’s simply not needed for airguns in this class. If you were setting up a PCP for competitive 100m bench rest then maybe, but for 25 to 35 yards in the backyard, save yourself the headache get out there and have some fun.

Thank you for the help. Great program 👍
Also the magnum jumps around A LOT!! I took the sear screw out and got a longer screw. And magic! Now it's pellet on pellet

Or you can use blue locktite and add double nuts with lock washers 😉
Also the pump really is quite hard to do. It gets a little easier after about a tin through the gun.
Rick, Thank you for the outstanding video! I just purchased a Gamo .22 Cal Swarm Magnum Pro Gen3i and found your video to be extremely helpful in getting me started on this exciting new airgun. My only comment is wouldn’t you first clean the barrel to remove any possible oil or grease that may be there from shipping to prevent any potential rust from happening.??
Seams like that could have a impact on accuracy for those 25 or maybe 50 rounds till it got removed by the pellets.??

Thanks for this great video!!!
Very useful. Thankyou,
mine should be on way.
This is very good institutional video. Thanks
Great advice, and video!
I enjoy your work!
This is a good air rifle. Straight through a coffee tin at 70yards hit it everytime.
I know you probably know this but for the viewer if after you took your 1st shot. If you just held Bullseye and looked through the scope and crank that top turret all the way up to your shot that it impacted on the paper. That would put you on bull's eye within about 1or2 shots
Only if the rifle is completly static, if it moves will adjusting the turret youll be off
Gee, let’s take the open sights off of a gun that’s notorious for breaking scopes. I guess there’re some real geniuses over there at Gamo 🤣
That line never had iron sites. Should be available if they make a Fusion Magnum. Only the Fusion series had both scope and iron sites.
Awesome Airgun. Thanks .

Really, really helpful.
Thank you for the good info!
Figured it out, read the manual and watched your zero add. 30 yard zero. Nor though yet. THANKS.
Does the gen3I magazine work with the gen1 guns such as the swarm whisper?
Any tips on cleaning your barrel before first fire.????
A little disappointed they removed the open sights. I prefer to run mine without a scope when I can. I don't think you need a scope for these ranges. My Ruger redhawk I can hit anything it has open sights it came with a scope I just have it in a drawer. It has a sling to if Gamo would put the sling on there rifles it would be awesome. The old gen 1 I got has a little metal nob that stick's down yeah he's showing it now. The mag is different than the old gen 1 mag as well. I'm just happy the scope was set perfect I don't like messing with the scope.
