6.5 at that distance I bet the bullets became hyper unstable due to passing subsonic. I love my 6.5 but it's the wrong tool for this particular range IMO. Fantastic episode!! Can't wait for the next
That’s mostly a myth, unless you are running the ragged edge of stability in the first place. The problem is the internet makes people think the creed is some magic cartridge. @@SigmaBallistics what is a myth? The bullet becoming unstable as it passed through the sound barrier as it slows down?? I have heard that heavier magnum rounds are effected less by this issue with lighter bullets.
@@Z33Garage it's a myth that most bullets will just become unstable and start tumbling upon transitioning into subsonic. This is rarely an issue, unless like I said, the bullet is very poorly stabilized in the first place. @@SigmaBallistics ahh ok fair. I have heard from several TH-cam LR guys that generally you want to stay within the sonic flight of the bullet for best effect. I agree the 6.5creedmor is probably not the best choice for a round for a mile compared to a magnum cartridge.

Should do a series where people can come in and pick from a selection of rifles, then compete. NOT bring their own. There are a lot of people that can shoot, but do not have access to the tools. I was top shot in my company in the Army, and would love to try some long distance target practice, but I can not afford to buy a rifle of that quality.

@@ChainsawFPV Nice story, when I was in Fallujah, Sangin and Ramadi, the only thing army did for me was blue on blue cause your infantry would shoot first and verify later. Sometimes we would find lost serialized gear like M-4s and NVGs the army would lose. Your officers loved coming to get them from us. In Ramadi after a few Marines took the city, we handed it over to the army only for the army to lose it , So once again a few Marines assisting CIA, Task Force Green , Nightstalkers and DEVGRU had to take it again. Long story short I remembered calling the navy and Air Force well before the conventional army forces. Usually army dogs where in the rear with the gear trying to dick down the married female soldiers, and eating McDonalds and getting fat. That's the army most doorkickers in my beloved corps know. As far as the rifle I was talking about, you sure are army, only a solider would think they need a 7-15k set up for a mile long shot. Must be nice having logistics. As for Marines, we adapt.

@@ChainsawFPV As someone who owns guns that cost 100-20,0000 dollars my point was even if you're on a budget, with the right training and self discipline, you can spend 900-1000 dollars on a budget setup, that while not as neat as FN Ballista or Barrett MRAD with a Night Force scope, it can give you results at 1 mile because I, and others have done it using factory ELD ammo. You just dismissed it, thinking you need crazy setups which you mentioned twice now which speaks to how ill-informed and lack of formal training you have on the subject. Did Mr “I Have Sponsors and a Training Company” even hit the berm?
No but he closed the bolt and had a finger on the trigger before being on target… Probably not seeking a class from him…
@@williamsonnie9935read this comment before getting to him, and I was expecting like, closing the bolt while still hunting for the target through glass.
Closing the bolt before even getting on the gun, and then finger on the trigger while getting settled and adjusted is wild
Said he would do a 6 out 5 too what a goof
Should do a series where people can come in and pick from a selection of rifles, then compete. NOT bring their own. There are a lot of people that can shoot, but do not have access to the tools. I was top shot in my company in the Army, and would love to try some long distance target practice, but I can not afford to buy a rifle of that quality.
You're one of those guys that's still paying off some mustang off with 30% interest? All these years later? I've seen a motivated Marine or two hit a mile with a out of the box Howa M1500 Hogue 7MM PRC 24" bolt-action and a Arken riflescope and Amazon Harris bipod knockoff all in for less then 1000, 900 when on sale.
@@namenotfound8747 I own everything I have. Mustangs are junk. I was Army, 1st Cav unit. Spent most of my time rescuing Marines. And I have no interest in your 900 dollar Amazon junk. Use that 900 to go buy a clue. P.S. Thats a great channel you have there. What are you, 12?
@@namenotfound8747 You are so full of yourself, you don't even get the point of the original post. Your average person does not have 15-20 grand to spend on a rifle, or have miles of property where its safe to shoot. Giving a person with less, an opportunity to do more. You need a hobby........
If I'm full of myself what does that make you? Never in 20 years the USMC have the words, "I saved ..." , ever come out my mouth. My pretty sure the word "I" is illegal in the world I come from. Carry on soilder.
I was thinking about a 6.5 creedmoor once upon a time 😂
Excellent advise Joe.
Damn I thought that was Scottie pippen
Get it Dwayne!
With how the 6.5 Creeds did just like with Cars there is no replacement for displacement.
6.5 Needmore, not sure why these guys would use that caliber for that far of a distance , I would think they are all pretty knowledgeable & shoot a lot, but I really don't know what I'm talking about, I'm just a hunter
I would love to try this just for fun.
I was pulling for my man with the 300 magnum.
1000 yards with a 303 (.311) open sights. Queen's prize marksman.
Definitely doable with the 303 at only 1000. That’s a chip shot even for irons but still very, very respectable! 👍🏼
@@XRING Thank you Sir.
Reading some of the comments, I realize that we have PRS shooters who enjoy their own rules and breaking them whenever they can and then there’s three gun shooters we don’t shoot long range. The 65 Creedmoor is not a extended long range gun. Let’s be fair it is clear that the shooters using it, we’re doing it to use their sponsors equipment regardless of the outcome. Also, I hear some of the shooters we’re not all following the same set of rules.
I love it!!
This would be a fun challenge! 😎
Being a non shooter (at the moment) I conclude the small 6.5 is just too small to see impacts and may be a poor choice for this competition.
There's a guy who did the LRSU Milk Jug challenge with a 22" 6.5 Grendel AR-15 on 3rd shot at 1500yds. I couldn't believe it but he did it. Much higher altitude though at 6300ft.
He 1st-round connected with his 7mm SAUM after just turning the barrel on too, at either 1500 or a mile. They have video of all if it.
