With Tottenham and Arsenal drawn together and no other venue in London deemed suitable, Wembley Stadium was chosen to host its first FA Cup semi-final. Arsenal were undoubtedly the favourites - they had only lost two matches all season and been defeated just once in their last ten North London derbies.
