Would this work on another phone (iphone) transfer from sim to esim there and than use the sim card in the Galaxy? (with the iphone still remaining the phone that has the phone function).
Does it actually download the connection details? Isn't that already pre-stored on the phone as to whether it's factory unlocked or locked to a carrier? And the customer should know if they are buying a verizon or at&t branded phone right?
I believe the non-unlocked, carrier intended devices wait for the first sim card to be inserted. Once a carrier sim card is inserted it will automatically force a reboot and once rebooted it will have that carrier (of the sim card you inserted) services (and apps) installed. But once inserted it also locks the network to that carrier as well.
Hello, I have a samsung s23 from tmobile, I am outside the USA without any SIM or eSIM from tmobile, I have tried everything but it is not possible to do anything to activate the device. Is it possible without using SIM or anything like that?

@@eSIMstudios If I have seen what they comment but nothing, I have pressed the buttons that indicate at the beginning but nothing happened. In the end, I was able to solve it by paying $10 to a contact that I have who connected remotely to my PC.

The concerns here are nothing compared to what problems this actually creates. After setting up the new phone without the sim card, it will FACTORY RESET EVERYTHING when you do place the sim card in. I can't believe this wasn't discovered here, It had to have happened afterwards. Samsung phones will "Sim Profile" and wipe everything once the first sim card goes in.
Samsung really made a crazy decision causing the phone to do this. I'm honestly speechless.

Actually, that did not happen in my case. Mine did not factory reset after placing a SIM card in my S23 Ultra.
@@eSIMstudios That is great to hear, perhaps this is only in certain regions or for carrier locked phones? I'm in Canada... who knows. I was thinking another viewer would have come across it, but maybe not. When I looked it up it was called "SIM Profiling". Never heard of it before.
Samsung definitely should have a warning somewhere though. I pretty much had the same thought as you--Why remove my sim card before I know my new phone is good? Especially with some of the problems that can be caused by switching it before transferring data...
I guess at least going through the first couple screens with a sim will prevent this, then put it back in the old phone afterwards for data transfer.

It seems like you don't have an unlocked model? The box says S918U instead of S918U1 (us unlocked model)
Did you purchase from a carrier?
Unfortunately, newer U/U1 S23 firmwares completely block foreign SIM cards from working (there is limited support for those SIM cards on the S22 series and older). The following major carriers are supported:
• AT&T
• Metro by T-Mobile
• T-Mobile USA
• US Cellular
• Verizon
• Xfinity Mobile
If you scroll down, you can see other ways to connect, but bear in mind the U/U1 phones are unlocked only for use with US and Puerto Rico carriers. For example, the SM-S918U1 initially used with AT&T can be used with T-Mobile or Verizon or any other US carrier, but not Rogers (Canada).
If no eSIMs are found when selecting your provider, you will be asked to confirm your carrier (it won't say specifically "So your carrier is xxxxx?") in three different ways.
SCAN QR CODE
If you received a QR code, you can scan it.
TRANSFER SIM FROM ANOTHER DEVICE
Transfer an eSIM from an older phone to your new phone.
INSERT SIM CARD INTO THIS PHONE
You will be able to insert your physical SIM card if you have one.
SEARCH FOR ESIM AGAIN
Select to change carriers if you made a mistake or don't know which is your primary carrier.
The next time you buy a Samsung phone in the US, do not insert the SIM until the Service Provider selection screen appears.

Certainly. Simply press volume down continuously when the device asks you to insert a sim card. It will allow you to bypass that msg. Appreciate the advice.
