Hi! Fellow True Autumn here ✌🏼 So glad I stumbled onto your channel, there are a lot of I could learn from you 😃 Anyway, I was a makeup hoarder for many years, did not know how to properly wear them but I still bought them 💸😂 It was a great journey though because I get to know myself, my preference, and the kinds of products I love. I am now at 1 concealer, 1 loose setting powder, 1 bronzer (also worn on eyelids), 1 blush, 1 brown gel liner, ditched mascara altogether using only lash serum, 1 brow gel, 1 bullet matte lipstick and 8 liquid matte lipsticks 😆 They all match the one blush so they are great when I want to vary my looks or to match with my clothings. Decluttering and curating my makeup was hard, but the end result is so satisfying. Plus, we autumns really glow with natural look! Good luck!
Oh hi true autumn! :) Oh my goodness your makeup collection is where I want to get to! Well done for the downsizing :) Yes I've really realised that a natural look suits autumns so well, I just need to use up a lot of my makeup first before I can get to that stage lol
Agree with all of this! Eyeliner is something I never thought I would be without but I have been using a darker eyeshadow with an angled eyeliner brush and I like the softer appearance
Agreed with all of these bar the finishing powder. I am 7/8 yrs older than you and because I don’t use highlight I find it a much more subtle way to add a tiny glow if required but I prefer powder blush/bronzer if I used cream I may feel different. I would add lip gloss & finishing spray to that list. Hate gloss I really am a bullet only girl. And I rather have evian/ La Roche Posay water spray if required - currently panning a mac fix plus its like elnett on my face. I prefer a gel liner but it’s not an every day item, rather use a darker shadow on the upper lid on the lash line. I am thinning out my last foundation with moisturiser. However still not found my perfect BB/tinted serum yet. And once my palettes are done I will like to find a perfect quod/duo and my favourite CT eyes to mesmerize and go back to one and done looks. The goal, is to look put together, natural, healthy looking but with a bolder lip.
That's my goal too, put together and natural/healthy looking. Difficult when there's a lot of makeup to use up! Oh I do love a lip gloss, especially this time of the year as I feel my lips are quite dry.
I totally agree , outside " camera makeup " no need for primer or foundation, better focus on having a beautiful healthy skin especially if you're in the Natural family . I recently had a sample of Chantecaille Bronze tint cream that can be used like a liquid bronzer to warm up your skin , really love it , very good product. Oh and Karl Lagerfeld would use Chanel eyeshadows to color his fashion sketches ! 🙂 Eva
Lip products are also my favourites asside from nail polish. But I only have one at the moment, Victory Red, quite a bold one for an autumn. I stopped using mascara, instead I simply colour my eye lashes when I go to the hair dresser. Way easier that way. I haven't ´thought of buying new make up at the moment, but if I do, yes, the lipsticks need to by hydrating. If you are not that keen on the products and there is still some left then I'd suggest you pass it one or sell it depending on what is more feasable. I know how hard it is to use products up just to use them up.
Vicki, I would suggest trying Bye Bye Pores by It Cosmetics for a face setting powder to take down the shine. It will not add thickness. It is not like flour on water. Most powders do not work for me either. My viewpoint is always not to do anything that doesn’t feel good with makeup. I don’t make myself use anything. I don’t owe my products anything. If you don’t want to wear eyeshadow then don’t! You can keep something for date night or holiday and not for daily wear. I took an inventory for myself whilst listening. 😮
I feel bad though that I've bought the makeup and that I should wear it! But I do get what you mean :) Thanks for the powder suggestion, I'll add it to my list!
My no-buy categories are Primers, Foundations (all the types), Bronzers, Blush, Finishing powders, all types of Eyeliners (I just use eyeshadows), Lip liners and Lipglosses (except for clear one) :) I also think of eliminating Eyeshadow palettes and Highliters, but I'm not sure about it yet🤔
@@vickilouise7764 Damn, I didn't make it clear enough😅 These are categories that I eleminated throughout all the years of using makeup! This year's goal is to pan a couple of palettes and decide whether I need eyeshadow palettes in my life or I should only buy singles :)
Last year I realised I don’t like bronzer anymore. I mean I like how it looks but I’m finding it to be an unnecessary step in my makeup routine and I tend to skip it most of days. Once I finish my last bronzer, the Nudestix cream bronzer in Manila, I won’t repurchase. I also don’t like foundation anymore, my skin improved quite a lot after my medical acne treatment so I just need concealer for my undereyes and the occasional blemishes
@@vickilouise7764 Yeah, I love it, easily blendable and looks very natural. If some day I feel like wearing bronzer again I will definitely repurchase the Nudestix ones
I love eyeshadow and have to limit what I buy so we’re definitely not the same there! But I don’t wear primer either, I’m over 40 so skin tints all the way (I’m finishing up 2 foundations and then never again), I hate liquid lipsticks, and I don’t have much eyelid space either so I haven’t bought eyeliner in years!
I agree with some of these decisions. I don’t need a highlighter. I do have some but I would apart from the skin dew probably not purchase again. Although I might not even need the skin dew again as I use skin nova. Which I know you did not massively like. Foundation I think depends a lot of your skin. If you don’t have much to cover the only time I see needing a foundation with more coverage is when you go out. For everyday I prefer a good concealer I can use all over 😂 and eyeshadows. I don’t think anyone really needs eyeshadow (unless going out) because you can get that crease definition with a bronzer and you can use a highlighter for your inner corner if you do that. But eyeshadow for me is more for fun than something I need. I so want to try that Vieve palette. But I have so many eyeshadow palettes that I don’t really need it and as you know I am on a no buy. Eyeliner if you have eyeshadows I think one eye pencil for your waterline is enough. I love blush but no one needs as many blushes as I have 🤣 I think in short what I need would be concealer, (back when Dior had that amazing bb cream I would have said that but haven’t found anything I like as much), bronzer, blush, eyebrow gel, tinted lip balm. Everything else I can do without on an everyday basis.
I agree with what you've said, there's products that you can multitask with like the bronzer as eyeshadow. We don't need a lot of products but it's hard to resist sometimes!
You do have a lot of "back ups". Why don't you sell some of the unopened backups that you're not going to repurchase, rather than the Vieve eyeshadow palette that is showing pan in several places? When I saw the Vieve palette I thought some of the shimmery shadows would be lovely to wear when you go out.
I don't know if I want to sell the back ups, they're back ups because I really love the product (like the Bobbi Brown primer) or they're new products that I want to try.
It definitely is. I went from a collection of one bb cream, one concealer, one mascara, two blushes, one bronzer to over 100 items 😅 and I don’t even know why. I think it’s stress. It’s that whole feeling of treating yourself to something. I want to use the year to be more mindful of it. I have been solo parenting for the past week and the nights were so tough. I found myself just adding stuff to the basket (didn’t buy it) but it was like 400£ 😅 of stuff that I don’t need.
It can be alarmingly easy for a makeup collection to grow! There's always new products coming out and temptation is so real. Well done for not checking out that basket :) maybe add it to a wishlist on your phone and then you can come back to it and see if it's something you still want/need. Maybe also try other outlets like reading instead of reaching for a phone/laptop (it's so easy to just grab your phone, I do it all the time!)

It's so much softer and more flattering I find :)

Skincare is such an important part of good makeup! Really want to sort out my skincare routine this year.

I get my lashes tinted (lifted at the same time) but still like to add some mascara. I'll see if there's any I can sell or pass on :)

Do not sell a used pallet. You hit pan on the one so a no sell on that one.
If it was never used, then yes.
Yeh that's what I was thinking. If I'd used it like twice it might be OK but you can tell I've gotten some use out of it!
