Skills learned earlier may degrade if not continuously sharpened.

In interviews, you will be questioned about your activities and productivity while on the bench.
Purpose of Bench in MNCs/Large Companies:
The bench concept exists to maintain a ready resource count for new projects during emergencies.
However, the number of people on the bench is usually limited.
Risk of Job Loss:
If the situation worsens, HR may contact you to inform you about the possibility of termination and advise you to look for other opportunities outside the organization.
Assignment to Projects or Internal Work:
You might be assigned to a project or internal work of lower grades.
Learning New Tools/Technologies:
You may be required to learn a new and different tool or technology from scratch, regardless of your interest.
Judgment and Assessments:
Colleagues might judge you and view you with less respect.
You could be subjected to assessments to evaluate your capabilities.
Effect on Hike/Promotion:
Your salary hike or promotion will likely be affected if you remain on the bench for an extended period.

Rightly said I was on bench for 10 months upskilled and got a data engineer role for different client currently working as shadow.
