    They were kind enough to number the startup sequence for the genset with large numbers, also the notebook paper hanging on the wall in the enclosure has handwritten instructions. Thanks for the video, Wayne.

    Howdy Wayne: First of all, you oughta see the grin on my mug when you post! The new intro is spot on! Now, about the genset: I'm thinking there was enough mouse schmoo in the muffler that it slowed up the start til that crap blew out. They most likely went in through the stack. And speaking of mouse schmoo, even though that pile in the panel wasn't too big, no telling how much stuff they pissed on in there, but most likely everything. You might try hitting it all with electrical cleaner, I use CRC but I'm sure there's others. If it's still iffy after that, you're most likely going to have to unhook and clean all the connections. I'll be looking forward to finding out what's up with the non circulating coolant, and hot fuel. Oh, one last thing, when you're blow schmoo outta old junk cover up or move the f'n beer! Where's your priorities man??!!

    • @Ol2Stroker
      @Ol2Stroker  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      🤣🤣🤣 hell yea Terry! I think the mice in the muffler was exactly the problem with the hard start. I feel like after a good hour of running making full power she's really gonna be shooting flame burning the rest up lol glad y'all are liking the intro I was nervous about it tbh! Great Video, Wayne. I’m sure you know, but if you use the ball end (rounded) of the hammer to go around the gasket paper, over the surface your making the gasket for it will cut everything out perfectly, even the bolt holes. Awesome little Generator, the enclosure should make it pretty quiet. I need some two stroke power. Thanks for the videos.

    A few years ago my uncle passed away, he had a bunch of old trucks and equipment laying around. This summer my cousin decided to see what still ran and what was junk, he worked on this ole skidder for like 2 weeks trying to get it going. 471 Detroit , using tricks i learned from your vids i went over and fired it up in like 4 hours. It was real lethargic at first, then it blew a ton of bird nest out the exhaust and started getting real snappy like it should be. Muffler caught on fire shooting flames out things got pretty interesting for a bit, good times.

    The fuel gets warm because it circulates thru the cylinder head...part of the fuel's job is to pull heat from the cylinder head and cool the injectors. Most of the time you don't notice warm fuel so quickly because it returns to a larger tank and takes a long time to heat up.

    • @Ol2Stroker
      @Ol2Stroker  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      100% John I guess it just caught me off guard with how hot it got but I think it was my own doing because I was using a container that sheds zero heat plus it was such a small container. I know full well how Detroit's circulate a ton of fuel for cooling injectors etc but I guess I didn't think it'd make that much heat being only 2cyl.

    Glad you got it up and running. That rheostat wiper arm was probably oxidized from not being moved for years. I’m guessing that controls the field windings in the rotor and is set to proper voltage under no load condition and the weighted rack I’m guessing is supposed to act quicker on load detection. Now that you actually have output voltage I bet it will load up just fine. Here where I’m located a generator is a requirement. Power fails often and may be out for days so I’m sure you’ll enjoy having things run when everyone else is dark! Might have to add a fuel cooler if the big tank don’t pan out and you have to use a plastic tank. Wayne here too😊

    Hey Wayne. Great video on the gen set 35 years ago in the 80’s when I was an apprentice electrician for golden circle in Australia we had 6 massive cat powered gen sets to run the factory with all the power outages we had (unions) and we would service the generator parts of the machines They sounded good up in the revs but still nothing like my Detroit in my White!!👍

    Congrats on the genny. Great video, learn alot from them. I'm no genny guru, but without anyone around to test, would hook up some old heaters &/or old wall/window A/C units to see if she would run stuff you do not care about ruining in case of a malfunction. Just watch the voltage during such, I had an old 240V single phase gas 2cyl Onan 10KW that was turned up high(voltage) to compensate for approx 150' of cable and fortunately did some repairable damage such as pc power supply and blown bulbs after a hurricane(a capacitor blew out of the power supply like a 22 cal.) Of course the guy I got genny from mentions this(the need for the long cables) a week later.
