Climbing on Absolute Limit - Chicken Nose 9a+ FA | Adam Ondra

- Isenfluh is a stunning crag in Switzerland, where I knew about one project bolted by Stephan Siegrist. We tried this project together with @JakobSchubertClimbing this spring, but after we broke one crimp, we gave up as we had no kneepads.
This time, using a very marginal kneebar, I unlocked a very improbable sequence. On my second day, I made the first ascent of this line, which is 9a+ called Chicken Nose.

The moment between 13:45 and 14:10 where Adam is going back and forth between foot positions before finally sticking the left hand was extremely intense.
On first watch I thought he backed off because his foot was caught in the rope, but once he came down and explained he wasn't sure about the moves it made a lot more sense.
@@darksendkilla his foot was also caught behind the rope. If he falls there hes doing a backflip with his head/back against the wall.really scary. but he managed to get out of the situation
pretty rare to see that from him, usually when he starts going he goes through the moves to the next rest....
The last few moves from the top when he's shaking out,
WHAT IS HE EVEN CRIMPING incredible strength and endurance.
Ikr total overhang on a crimp one handed...
And there's no way those two crimps are any larger than 8mm. Fucking incredible
It almost looks like he layed his thumb sideways on a small piece, then used his actual thumb as the crimp. Like how he uses his ankle as a hold sometimes
We've heard many a power scream from Ondra, but now he hits us with the resting scream. Incredible!
Those crux moves were insane. Love the lil passionate debrief afterwards. So nice
It's funny, when I watch these and he finally makes it to a spot where he can rest, I also rest....i don't even realize it at the time but I'm half holding my breath and all my muscles are tightened....he takes a big breath and then I relax, haha....so tense.....just aweseome!
Adam on rock > Adam in gym
Absolutely. Rock is the real climbing. Well, and ice, but that's a different area.
@@danielwesterlund1905cringe
I agree that comment was cringe
Adam in Gym > me
@@danielwesterlund1905yes you are right, also 1+1=5 is right
Adam‘s intensity is just unbelievable! If he says he’ll run it out, he RUNS it out!
The endorphin-fueled debrief conversation between two friends at the end made me smile - I remember that feeling well. Nothing beats climbing for that post-success endorphin rush and those moments of hard-earned success shared with a good friend will still be glowing brightly in your mind when you're aged 70.......trust me! Brilliant climbing and superb film. Thank you to all involved.
Thanks Dom
8:50 Pretty cool to see adam leaving his knee bar bloodstain permanently on the rock 😂
Yeah that was quite metal of him.
Adam has such a good energy! You can just feel his passion, seems like such a nice guy!
I don't climb anywhere remotely near this level, but as an old blind guy, my world has shrunk to developing a local in-town choss crag. I want to say how much I appreciate learning about the effort Adam and others put into developing new lines, both in the trial-and-error approach and in the tenacity of moving past breakages and dead ends. This is super motivating, and at 70, I'm looking forward to sending this spring what I'm setting up this winter!
One of the nicest comments this year. Thank you very much. Let's move on! Adam & AO Team
I am almost 45. I hope I can still climb when I am 60 and 70.
You can! Take a look at Jo Nesbø.@@FireFistAce5
My forearms are getting pumped just watching you! I don't need the climbing gym anymore... Thank you Adam! :)
The way Adam has evolve into a "knee climbing" is just inspiring and awesome. Instead of getting stuck in old methods and/or rigid statements, he has adapted his method keeping the maximum level in the world. Empty the bottle, be water my friend.
Ah another, what looks like, seemingly impossible route completed by Adam
Stefan Siegrist and Adam Ondra, this is awesome! Many thanks for this powerful footage!
It's really an amazing thing to have this level of media following a world class athlete. Seeing the moments of joy that someone so dedicated and obsessed experiences when they achieve something new like this is so inspiring. And I don't even climb! He just seems so free when climbing. I love to see people care about what their doing so much that they just let it all out and are completely themselves in the moment- screaming, celebrating, etc.
A hold had been ripped !
Adam : let me change some of the bolts 😅
Adam also: now you re knee barring basically to nothing but somehow it works 😅😅
climbing is rare in that the best climbers are the only ones who can put out the best climbing content.
I love Adam's enduring enthusiasm for climbing and sending routes. Bro was born for this.
That moment when you get down to your belayer having just sent at your limit and all you do is waffle with pure psych about the experience! Love this! Beautiful!
wow. both Pete and Adam putting out videos recently showing them finding those extra last reserves beyond what you feel should be possible.
an amazing thing to capture and immortalise in a video.
Great to watch. thank you and congratulations
17:45 "i put the foot up and thought - oh i have it!... il do it"
the absolute joy on Adams face as he relays the suprise of making it. LOVE IT!!
Way to go, Adam, amazing job!!!
thankyou Adam for a great journey and thankyou Stephan for the route
This is one of your best videos, everything was so amazing and the camerawork was one of the best i've seen too, congrats :)
So much hand sweat, awesome crux clear!
I have never climbed like this before. Not even remotely close. Watching your love for this and how engaged you are keeps me watching your videos! Your love for this sport really shows.
Thank you! I think you can enjoy and be engaged on any kind of level in climbing. It is the best "sport"!
Adam just knee bars himself up everything even if there aren’t any knee bars
Adam Ondra: lets put another bolt
also Adam Ondra: lets not use them instead
Classic Adam 😊
Those final moves were intense. Love it totally smashed it ..inspirational
The climb looks awesome
Is there a more beautiful, more romantic, more wholesome activity than rock climbing? I think not. What Adam and other great climbers do is really inspiring and i love that i can just stream their climbs, it makes me want to push my limits more and more.
Usually with these videos I feel I can’t comprehend the struggle and how hard it is physically but this time I felt every move ! Loved every second of it :)
Astonishing beauty of those mountains and that valley what a great shots by camera crew
Great energy as always and the climb looked great too :D congratulations
Thanks a lot! AO Team
That was lovely thank you for sharing, really appreciate especially watching the inner process of working out the impossible moves. So much cooler than watching just the finished result!
Thanks for sharing ❤ what an adventure
Wow amazing.
Congratulations Adam💪🏻💪🏻
Legend has it that Adam's bloody knee bar is still on the wall to this day...
I notice such a big difference between watching a camera angle from the ground and up compared to an angle from the top and down. When looking from the top and down you immediatly get the feeling of weight and that adds so much to the immersion. You sense the struggle and fight so much better.
Solid video.
crema e gusto. Bravo Adam for a great effort, inspiring stuff!!
Nádhera 💙 Výkon, krajina, radost..
Nothing short of masterclass climbing. It is so inspiring watching your videos Adam. And kudos to your team for producing another incredible video where we can see the intricacies of the moves you make. Truly amazing all around to watch
Glad you like that! AO Team
Insane skills and dedication on display. Truely superhuman, Adam!
What a pretty route, and a beautiful solution. Siegrest’s presence is powerful alone; it’s no wonder he’s so well known, and has accomplished so much.
good job Adas
Grande Adam, ineccepibile pure sul caffè :-)
Adam this was so great thing I've ever seen. You are inspiring . Well done film crew and keep up the good work!
The joy of climbing.
Great video. Incredible climbing Adam 💪🏻
Soak up all of these moments in life because what you are accomplishing is nothing short of amazing. Don't stop giving us the privilege of watching you on this journey.
whoa.. such an inspiring send and glad it got captured on camera. Adam's passion for climbing is always an eye opener; congratulations on the send!!
The pure joy was what i needed for today. What an incredible send, and watching how committed Adam was for the send and pushing himself to the limit, is a little reminder I needed for today.
the best ( but unfortunately unrecognized outside of his sport) athlete in the world.
ive seen many performences from adam over the years but man this one is definitely rock solid adam! great strength on those crimps keep up the good work and great accomplishments.
Another beautiful climbing adventure video…actually a mini film. You are always motivating me in my climbing progress, there is a looot to learn from your videos. You are truly the best climber as a sportsmen and as a human as well. Congratss
So fun to watch!
Best Ovomaltine advertising ever 😂
Thanks Adam, beautiful video!
What a bombastic video. Totally tense. Thank you for that.
I don't know anything about rock climbing, but every time this guy publishes a video I watch it. It's just unreal how he can grab those tony little ledges. Doesn't even seem possible.
There’s just something about watching you legends I get sucked right in but I am not good with heights anymore. Be always safe and may the gods be with you.
Thx for sharing 🎉
those crux moves were insane
awesome job Adam!!! You have some real power there.
Wow that was insane! Well done you smashed it.
Those videos are amazing Adam, pure life force! Keep it up my friend!
The last pitch/crux was nuts. Parallel with the ground to complete. Strength
So nice seeing Adam being so stoked about the send after being lowered.
What a monster! Nice man... Inspiring!
Pure rock climbing! Finally!
Props to the camera person
Nice!
Great production quality
Thank You!! 🙌🏾
Thanks for the video
Great send. Adams forearms are insane
Your content is elite, Adam!
He was climbing a ladder. Deeply impressed.
That rock looks like it just poured over the face from above, the heat to cause these flows must have been incredible. Formed millions of years ago and crumbling away ever since.
I’m not a rock climber, but there are certain climbers you have to watch, even if you are not a climber. Adam is at the top of that list.
Beautiful!
Love the footage, nice vid
massive effort, congrass 👏
Excellent!
Love this vid!!! When I see you climb Adam!! I wana get out and climb myself ,pity I'm on my rest days!!!!!😂
Incredible
Incredible!!
Eres un máquina!!!!!
Amazing 😊
Поздравляю🎉
One word - GOAT !
Route could also be called "Blood on the Wall" because of that knee bar in the crux!
Indeed 👌
Thanks to whoever did the nice subtitles
That was amazing
beautiful!
absolutely insane skill
Love the outdoor content thanks team !
Glad you enjoy it! AO Team
Beautiful work my friend! I've been meaning to ask now that age is kicking in and you are a dad now and such: do you feel like you are starting to slow down or weaken at all? Or do you feel as powerful as you did when you FA Silence?
A-daamn Ondra 🎩🎩
Ah yes, the classic moral support knee-bar to nothing
