That sounds awesome! Keep in mind that there are restrictions on drivers age so definitely check your state requirements.

What State are you in? Some states do require a For -Hire Plates
Do you recommend to start off with 3 vans to go big if we can. Or to just start small with like an suv first? My husband says to go big right away and I’m thinking no just me in our suv maybe
I would consider a lot of facts like: Do you have contracts in place already, do you have drivers that will drive these vehicles, do you have capital to run the business until the business can support itself? These are many of several factors that should be considered. If you would like to discuss this more before such a huge investment, let's talk.

Doesn't sound like there's any sate licensing requirements. Wonder how State agencies ensure compliance then. What's the point of taking all that training and certification if nobody is enforcing?

Hello ladies!! I started watching some of your videos, but got off track. I came back to this one because you have more information in this one. Question?? For 25 years, Ive been a bus driver and I have my own business as a CNA for over 30 plus year. Most of the requirements I do have. I prefer private care less stress. I live here in Fort Myers FL, and the need for transportation for the elderly, disabled is on a rise. Do I need to contract with a broker or can I just do private pay? I am working on just getting the insurance for now, and using my Dodge Journey. Later, I will purchase another vehicle. I probably wont be able to transport 4 at a time for start. I definitely want to start doing this. Thank you for your videos. 🙂
You can absolutely provide service to private pay clients only. Working with a NEMT broker is optional.

In California Is the defensive driving course and worker compensation insurance required for private pay NMET?
If you're working as an owner-operator, you aren't required to have workers' comp. However, once you hire your first employee, it becomes mandatory. Additionally, training requirements vary depending on the contracts you're pursuing.

How much is the pay to transport a patient ? And how do you get clients? I did research for Georgia and it was something I came across such as - going through a broker ? ( can you touch on that ) Do u pay a broker ?
Pay varies depending on your client list. It’s important to multiple streams of income in this industry. You do not pay to work with brokers. No. You must have everything complete.
what would be minimal year of the vehicle requirement to start nemt? like used vehicle. thank you.
No more than 10 years old. This requirement varies per state but overall if you want to built a strong brand I would stay within that range.
How old can the vehicle be? Do they have to be fairly new or as long as they are in good shape.
Most cases no older than 10 years
When you say broker in this business, what do you mean?
NEMT brokers are the middle man. They typically have contracts with the state, health plans, as sometimes facilities. They seek to contract with transportation providers to transport the members of the mentioned above.
All my staff are CNAs
Surprisedly there are a lot of CNA's that seek nemt positions due to an increase in pay.

How long does it take to get your motor carrier certificate
It can take a few weeks to a couple of months. Keep in mind a motor carrier permit is not required for all states.

Yes. You will need a business license. Reach out to your County Clerks Office to find out the requirements for their jurisdiction.

You can start an LLC or start as a sole
Prop. Most brokers and facilities will want you to have legal entity. You will need CORRECT vehicle insurance. You don’t want to cut corners in this high risk industry 💯

You do not need a broker. You can explore other avenues like private pay and service contracts with skilled nursing facilities.

We have a nationwide brokers list on our website with over 20 brokers. If you are looking for more I would definitely check out that list at mjreliabletransportation.com. Brokers can also be found by doing a simple google search online. Broker rates may vary depending on your state, services offered, distance, and the overall need for providers. We have seen WC rates as low as 20.00 base all the way to 60.00 with transportation brokers.

You want to make sure you follow your state requirements regarding minimum wage. You also want to be competitive with other transportation companies.

@@RainRay1 Just go on Facebook and search for NEMT groups. Please be mindful that these groups have changed and you may see a lot of negative comments and misleading information, so make sure you continue to do your own research.
