They did not have Liberty when I was a girl! The mere concept is so far from the type of control we were taught to exert. The mere concept that horses could do what you ask of them voluntarily is amazing and magical! Perhaps if you grew up doing a lot of groundwork, or if you think of circus horses doing tricks, it might just seem like an extention of what you already do, it might not be so surprising. But to someone who had “English” riding lessons as a young person, this is just a tremendous development!🌟❤️🥰

The military and police (cavalry wasn’t always tanks) relied on horses to help them do their jobs, even under wartime conditions-they would be foolish not to use bridles with bits! Horses can startle at little things, and the safety of the rider is paramount, along with the ability to control the horse in such a way as to fulfill the mission. The guards at Buckingham palace would be foolish to avoid using bits. Even most parade horses require greater rider control, in the interests of public safety. Bitless, tackless, and Liberty work are fine at home-especially trail rides ON EXPERIENCED RELIABLE MOUNTS-or in certain aspects of horse shows. It’s all cool, but let’s not go too far.

I did ground work with mine when I was a kid (had to look up how in a book) and if I came home from school and my horse was having a sunshine bath in her pasture, I would lay down between her two sets of legs with my head on her belly. But we didn’t have anything like Liberty.
More and more I see horses treated with the closeness and freedom of family members. One young couple takes their animals wilderness camping. Cat rides in hamper and pack horses run untethered along side with their dog. Together because of close herd bonds.
Shoot … you start running with him and the music builds … And then I start getting super emotional … As if on cue.. I start crying and laughing at the same time .. This happens often when I watch your beautiful videos.. Thank you for sharing these once in a lifetime experiences❤
Always a lovely morning with the sweetest, charming Mushu. Especially, when he is in a training session. Also, with the added fun of sparkling glitter. A shining start to the morning!!! Mushu is doing so well with liberty training, some tools, plenty of encouragement and being in the moments of connections with Shae. He is so affectionate and willing to learn. Came as a yearling, plus months, and now a young 5 year ago old guy full of promise! We love you Mushu! You are amazing, smart, lovable, affectionate, a best buddy and a happy sociable family member!! 💗🐎💗 ♥️♥️♥️

To me, liberty shows that happy horses are partners, not slaves. The horses can stop whenever they want to. They 'do' because they want to, not because they have to. Brings a tear of joy to my eye, too.
He loves you as much as you love him and it shows. He'd do anything for you and even though he's not quite sure what you want he is trying so hard. I love this sweet horse and also how kind and loving you are to all your horses.❤
Thing is he does know what she is asking. There was only one thing she asked of him for the first time and he did it flawlessly. She has built up his knowledge from very small steps so he does understand what she is asking. ❤

I Really think you should put on horse shows, that shows everything you stand for and do at Free Spirit Equestrian. I think it would really impact the horse and handler and the Equestrian world as a whole!!!❤❤❤❤

He always comes across to me as looking at everything with a sense of humor: "These humans are so silly and everyone knows horses are the smartest, but I love them and they have good treats so I'll play along with their funny little games." As if he's in on a private joke. Lol. No idea if that's what he's like IRL but that's what he seems like on screen.
Mushu is my favorite horse by far. Some of your horses are breathtaking to see, but Mushu is the one I would choose for a buddy, a best friend. He seems like good listener, and attuned to others. It would be an act of love to work with him, help him develop his skills, to gain his trust and his heart. He's so blessed to have you as his trainer. You're patient, caring, and genuinely invested to do right by him.

Props to you on how you train. Not only the verbal confirmations but the treats. I watch other trainers and I'm constantly wondering, "where are the treats?". Keep up all that you do!!!
Fun fact, I recently discovered that a horses mane stays on the side of their "lead" leg, the one they tend to start with, or, their stronger leg. When the mane is on both sides, I would assume the horse is fairly balanced with leading either leg first. Yes, and the dominant side can swap with a leg injury. I found that interesting. Oh yeah, love love love what you are doing here - go Mushu!
Mushu looks so good after his hair cut. Not just a fur ball. Now you can see all his muscles working I know he had his cut awhile ago but just to watch him is amazing. You go Mushu

I think Mushu would follow you anywhere! He looks in great physical shape these days. So interesting to watch him go over that jump. So fun! When you were working on the sideways "dancing" that took a lot of concentration for him. Such a good boy. Loved you matched in that pretty royal blue😊.

Mushu is my favorite of your horses, he has come a long way with his calm sweet willing nature, and your premier training methods. He reminds me of the horse I learned to ride on, she was the size and shape of Mushu w color and markings like a Dartmoor/ Exmoor Pony, Coco was wonderful. This was in the mid and late 60s.
I had to stop half way through to cook dinner, now I am back I nearly cried when Mushu bowed soo fantastic I can watch you again and again, especially Mushu pretending to be a dog, just the best xxx

I love horses so much. Watching Mushu is a treat for me. As a young girl I wanted to have a horse ranch. It never happened but I’ve seen many horse shows and loved them. Horses are akin to dogs , just bigger. ❤️💖🐎💖❤️

You and Mushu have a lot to be proud of. It's fun to see his spicier side as he works liberty. I think this is the best way to see how sharp and attentive he can be when he's "on".
O my Shae he could b a movie star. Mushu is a wonderful horse. You have really done a fabulous job with him. Ur horses r very lucky to have u in the beginning of there journey. You have a great mission. Never let anyone discourage you from it. it takes just what you do for some people to acquire their perfect heart horse. Not everyone has the ability to train or bring them along as you do. And otherwise wouldn’t b able to acquire such a fabulous horse. U fill a great place in the horse training world. More trainers like u r definitely needed. It’s wonderful u acquire them from auctions where they may otherwise fall into lesser hands. Thanku for being u and for doing what u do 🐾❤️🐾

I think Mushu would follow you anywhere! He looks in great physical shape these days. So interesting to watch him go over that jump. So fun! When you were working on the sideways "dancing" that took a lot of concentration for him. Such a good boy. Loved you matched in that pretty royal blue😊.

Mushu is my favorite of your horses, he has come a long way with his calm sweet willing nature, and your premier training methods. He reminds me of the horse I learned to ride on, she was the size and shape of Mushu w color and markings like a Dartmoor/ Exmoor Pony, Coco was wonderful. This was in the mid and late 60s.

I know Mushu will be moving on at some point, and my hope is that whoever he goes to will truly treasure this horse's amazing disposition and intelligence and will be his best friend, every day, forever. Shea, you should sell this precious boy for about... a million dollars.

Wwow, the glitter turns into a "DISNEY" effect. MAGIC! He is so special. Your training was like dancing a "pas de deux" with a horse. Excellent music choice too. Mushu deserves to be someone's heart horse. He has so much heart himself. So willing, so smart, so young.

I love horses so much. Watching Mushu is a treat for me. As a young girl I wanted to have a horse ranch. It never happened but I’ve seen many horse shows and loved them. Horses are akin to dogs , just bigger. ❤️💖🐎💖❤️
Mushu is such a gentleman how he swings his butt over at the mounting block so you can comfortably mount ❤. Practical, cute and funny.
Mushu is such a wonderful guy. He's amazing now, can't wait to see him in another year, or even 6 months. I love when you have the Scottish/Irish music going when Mushu is in the limelight.
