  • Continuation of the Lowrider 3 CNC build video. In this video I show some details of the table I designed for the Lowrider. The center is open to easily replace the spoilboard. Also the first project with the CNC: the company logo of a friend and the LCD frame for a screen.

    That sign looks perfect! Great use of the machine. I think you are going to love the Lowrider 3.

    I really like your table, it's the best I've seen so far. Will you share the dimensions or possibly have a CAD file for it? I would like to model mine after yours.

    • @cnc-ing
      @cnc-ing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I will try to measure the dimensions again more accurately and then give feedback. The CAD model is unfortunately not quite complete because some ideas came only during the construction and were implemented. Maybe I still manage to complete the model.

    What "black sand" did you use for the letters/signs?

    • @cnc-ing
      @cnc-ing  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thats quite cool. I used Lava Sand from the Vulcano Etna from Sicily Italia. But you should be able to use every sand 😃

    Is it better than Lowrider 2, if so what aspects ?
    cause I have a unfinished V2

    • @cnc-ing
      @cnc-ing  ปีที่แล้ว

      In my opinion yes. But to be honest, if i where in your situation i would first finish the LR2 and try it out since you probably already printed the parts. Maybe you are already happy with it otherwise its not a big deal to "upgrade" to the LR3. You can use most of the hardware but need to print all the new 3D parts.

    How did you make the table I love the idea

    • @cnc-ing
      @cnc-ing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I started with a CAD model but eventually improvised more and more. I milled out the beams so that they can be plugged into each other. On the right and left side of the frame the boards are screwed so that the gantry can drive on it. In the middle part, the spoilboard can be turned or replaced if necessary. Now a construction is missing that the plate does not lie on the ground.

      What is the size of the table?

    Do you have a link to the router that you're using? And did you design the clamping brackets yourself for the router, or did the Dewalt or Makita ones fit with no modifications ?

    • @cnc-ing
      @cnc-ing  ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually can't recommend that router. Crazy load and not very strong. I already changed to a real 1,5kw cnc spindle with an VFD. That war really a great improvement.

      Thats where i bought the spindle. But you also need an VFD to controll it.

    very nice I can't get mine to move that fast. What program are you using?

    • @cnc-ing

      I use Estlecam but changed the marlin firmware settings for the max speed. That's why I can move so quickly 😎

    Why is there a rail only on one side?

    • @cnc-ing
      @cnc-ing  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is part of the Lowrider 3 design philosophy. Basically 2 independent rails are extremely hard to align and it is not really necessary for the type of applicants that the Lowrider is meant for. But best is to take a look on the V1 Engineering page. There is an FAQ regarding this topic.

    You could've put a stencil on that and painted it. Lot's of work just to make it look painted

    • @cnc-ing
      @cnc-ing  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is by fare not the same effect. Since the Resin is clear and the black sand sits on the ground of the milled letters you can see the woodgrain on the side of the letters. Very hard to get this on camera but in real live the effect realy does look amazing. But like always: it depends on the viewer. For me the afford was worth it.

    • @LuisCasstle

      😅 technically once hanginhg it may be harder to tell the difference, but this way it woud last longer. If weathered, to renew you can sand and recoat. If it hangs at eye level than you can appreciate the detail. If you pause the video at 7:46 you can see the wood grain detail he mentions.
